- I'm excited to show you all around my room, and explain my living set up here in Seattle. This is my Seattle Apartment Tour 2019, I pay $1200 a month.
If you have been following me for a while, you know I've never really been the best when it comes to interior design, nor have I really cared about my living situations for the past 2 years, so I didn't put much effort in. This last fall when I moved into my new place, I was excited about the space, and new I wanted to finally invest in some quality pieces of furniture that would last. I live in a 5 bedroom townhouse in Seattle, with my friends. For $1200 a month I get a room and I share a bathroom with one person. For my room, I love the mid century modern look of furniture, and got most of my items at West Elm. I LOVE WEST ELM, sorry if I sound like a broken record explaining where everything is from. I also got a few things at Urban Outfitters, but there quality tends to be hit or miss, but there stuff is trendy!

to clear things up, the $1200 is what I pay for my portion of the rent, and I got one room out of it. The ENTIRE house costs more than $1200!

@@CmatthYBR A good rule of thumb in most high tech areas is $1K per bedroom. A 5BR would be $5K per month. Maybe more, maybe less.
The palm plant is a sago palm or _cycas revoluta_. It's absolutely not great for cats. Calatheas are pretty fickle; maybe even more fickle than the fiddle leaf fig. You have a calathea medallion seem pretty fickle. Consider getting a humidifier for your plant babies.

$1200 is a mortgage payment on a house here....it always fascinates me to see the cost difference in cities. Beautiful room!

MrsDavis913 My sister lives in NYC and she’s lived in 6 different places, always just a 9x9 bedroom room with a tiny shared bathroom and tiny kitchen, while what she pays per month for that is the same or more than my mortgage for my 1,300 sq ft 3 bed/2bath house here in Maine. Wild.

If you have Google Lens installed, you can point your camera at your plants & it can guess what each plant is. I tried it the weeks I volunteered at my Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) & it was better than 90% accurate in identifying the veggies in the bins.🤔🤔🤔 There might also be a future video of what in Seattle Google Lens can & cannot identify? 🤷♀️🤷♂️
1200 is not bad for one bedroom out of a house like that in Seattle. Seattle pricing can get pretty insane. I love what you did with your space! I also vote for the 73 questions!

since i'm a young, broke student i'm not letting myself spend money on nice furniture etc.. I don't even have a bed frame lol. I can't wait for the day I get to decorate my first home (hoping it's a tiny home). Love all the plants everywhere :D
I can say in your country you people are blessed. The landlord keeps everything for you bed, washing machine, closet etc. Its just that if you rent his apartment you just come with your bag. Here in my country you rent plain walls only. Yes the kitchen its placed but not decorated like in that state. I will show you a $200 apartment in my country and you will be flabbergasted

I was watching one CZcamsrs vid the other day where a designer was like "why buy West Elm when Target has cute stuff" here's the thing it might work short term to buy target, but always check the material things are made with a lot of stuff that's cheap is made with particle board making it incredibly short lived. If you shop at thrift stores most likely a solid wood piece is going to be more pricy than something cheap as well just remember when shopping to check the materials. I swear some designers just want to get re-hired. I like this approach and I think you've learned from past rooms what not to buy so that's good.

Monica, living in Seattle, what is your main choice when it comes to transportation? I am from Bellevue, and I hate driving myself to Seattle because the traffic and roads stress me out. Do you choose to drive? Bus? Uber?

Just adding my opinion as another Seattleite. I live in Cap Hill and spend a lot of time downtown. I bus most days (sometimes light rail) and Uber/Lyft if I'm in a rush (or I don't want to deal with the rain). But I hear ya on the roads being stressful...I've gotten to the point that even taking an Uber and having to sit in traffic is too stressful. I like being in the big ol' bus and not really noticing the traffic. Is the bus pretty good from Bellevue over to Seattle?
Erica Gamet Yeah the bus is really nice because of the express lane. Mostly I like it because I don’t have to find or pay for parking 😂 And the hills too... I hate traffic on them.
