  • This prop has been a favorite of people visiting my home haunt. Using a simple rotating motor and adding in a skeleton you get a pretty awesome effect. Plus the same principles used here can be scaled up to a larger version of this prop with stronger motors or applied to totally different props.
Most of what I make I try and do using as much free scrap supplies as possible, so if you're into DIY Halloween props you should definitely subscribe!
Here's a link to the motors I use:
6 Set Cup Turner Synchronous Motors (6 RPM):

Fun... and the perfect project to use my old rotisserie motor for!

I use a BBQ grill motor for this sort of thing. They are geared down a lot and have good torque so they can drive a heavy mechanism. They are also quite cheap used, and can be often found at yard/garage sales.

Oh nice! I've heard of people pulling motors from old recliners, shiatsu massagers, and a few other things that often get thrown out but still have usable parts that can be scavenged.

Just checked out your channel and subscribed. I don't think it's a coincidence you found this video and commented here. Success through struggle.
I haven't made it public on any of the channels I run but less than 2 weeks ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 linitis plastica stomach cancer. This came about a month after my wife and I had our first baby. Yesterday was my first chemo treatment. The numbers are stacked against me and as long as my body can take it I'll be fighting. One of my doctors is pushing to do some new more experimental treatments to give me as much life as possible. I've got to thread the needle on this one to come out the other side. Probably not the reply you thought you'd get commenting on a random halloween prop building video, but I just wanted to let you know your message has helped strengthen me today as I endure my first round of chemo. God bless you!

Definitely on my list of things to build. I have some rocking tombstones that I think could possibly work for a see saw as well. The trick will be making sure everything is PERFECTLY balanced. If not I think you’d a need stronger motor than one of these little ones.

Do you have a tutorial for raising an arm in a slasher style swing? I have 3 extra 5rpm motors I'd like to try something new to add to my set up.
