Dave, on a serious note, I literally get up for work, wash up, eat breakfast, immediately check to see if you made a new video every morning. You are like the best neighbor I never had. You are such a great bass player, luthier, comedian, and youtube friend. I enjoy and have learned a lot form your videos. I watch your videos, keep in touch more with you than my family. LOL! Cheers
Great Tutorial Dave. I have an 1986 B.C. Rich Warlock (The pointy ones that scare you) that over those years has acquired numerous chips on those edges. I always went the "sharpie route but seeing how you use the thinner to soften the chip edges I think I might give the old girl a proper make over. Thanx Rock On! out, t
This thing's Fuggin' beautiful! I love me wood grains, pinty guitars and the sweet sweet V's! My RR1 has sharpie marker on the tips, LOL /w\ METAL HERE /w\
it happenned to me about a week ago right in the headstock of my bc rich aveng sob in one of the points, its a little chip but I hate it man, it sucks, Ill try this to see if it works
I've used Black fingernail polish for this type of repair a couple of times,,, not quite the quality repair you've got going on,, but,, it'll work in a pinch.
Hey Dave I have a white Gibson Custom and it needs touching up around the nut area where someone previously did a bad nut job and disturbed the paint and lacquer. Only thing is as with all white Gibsons it has started to cream! Will I touch it up with cream paint knowing that it won't age like the rest of the guitar?
Davey, dude... I bought a Jackson Rhoads shape. Came in the mail today. The guy who sold it didn't package it right and one wing was DAMAGED to hell. A big ass chunk came off. Do you think someone could fix something like that? Or is it just ruined? Thanks in advance and congrats on the 6k subs. :D
Dave, I have a '97 california series Tele that some goof dropped the string ferrule out of the back of without realizing it then the sting pulled through the front and chipped it below the bridge. It is a heavily faded classic white and it is poly finish. What type of finish do you repair poly finishes with? I have the chip unbelievably.....
How long do you typically have to wait for the laquer to fully cure before any polishing. I'm finding it takes days to months depending on the depth which seems crazy long.
I bought a Dean vmnt end game v which had been dropped off the truck while unloading at less then half price because the end of the v where the knobs are was broken like a bat. I reshaped it with a detail sander and painted it. Not perfect but way better.
Hey, I have a question for you. Okay so I am trying to start working on my own guitars and I have one that has a problem. I have a Epiphone les paul and the neck pickup doesnt work. When I have the switch in the middle nothing plays unless the volume for the neck is on 5. Do you have any clue?
Alright and how do you think they'd do it? Would they cut off more of the wing so there is a clean cut, then get a shaped piece of wood and add it onto the guitar to make it look like it's part of it? Not familiar at all with guitar repairs.
Ive got a Esp that has a TONNN of chips none are too serious though but its an eye catcher haha thankfully my guitar is a solid black so im going to attempt this and hopefully i dont fail D: Thanks for the vid though best repair vid on youtube.
Okay, so here's the plan. Party for all 6000 (plus) but have it the week "after" you move. It will be at your old house and all of us can then go and ask the neighbor if he has seen you? "I've seen the guy."
6008 subscribers @ 7:28 A.M. CST. Proof that your subs are breeding like rabbits and have the attention span of one. Seriously though your vids are like getting laid. The best 5 to 10 minutes of our day. Thanks!!!
Celebrating six thousand subs & 2,728,923 views (i would have spelled it but i ran out of characters) & not one shout out to the members of your eight string fanclub, WTF?.... LOL :- )
You're welcome, Dave. :) Just kidding. Love seeing a video every day or two from you about how dumb people can be with their, or God forbid, other peoples' guitars.

Tell me, do I obscure the actual repair with my entire hand, before or after zooming in?
I bought a Dean vmnt end game v which had been dropped off the truck while unloading at less then half price because the end of the v where the knobs are was broken like a bat. I reshaped it with a detail sander and painted it. Not perfect but way better.
MobileDecay any pics?

Hey Davey, anybody ever asked about using fingernail polish for repairs? I think it's nitrocellulose laquer.
Dave , I have used Testors black to repair an Ovation chip and I thought it was enamel and took forever to dry. Was I sadly wrong ?
Can I use nail polish on a tobacco burst telecaster? The chip is on the dark part.
hey Dave, what's that thing on the bottom side of the guitar? Looks like a rumble strip or something.
would it work if you just touched it up with gloss black nail polish instead of this method? I'm in the situation at the moment. Thanks
Dave's World of Fun Stuff
So if i found the exact black, that's a possibility to fix it?
I used auto touch up paint.
What do you recommend for ivory colored lacquer?
Dave, Seal the wood first with either Shellac, or thin CA. :) The lacquer will not soak in so much.
Your the fucking man, Davey!!!!!
how remove little dents from lacquered maple wood (in back neck from a electric bass guitar)
Alright and how do you think they'd do it? Would they cut off more of the wing so there is a clean cut, then get a shaped piece of wood and add it onto the guitar to make it look like it's part of it? Not familiar at all with guitar repairs.
I have the same problem. Were you able to repair it?
Ive got a Esp that has a TONNN of chips none are too serious though but its an eye catcher haha thankfully my guitar is a solid black so im going to attempt this and hopefully i dont fail D: Thanks for the vid though best repair vid on youtube.
Good job, v's are just waiting to have a hunk knocked out, awkward shape but great sound
nevermind just spazzed for a sec lol
Black nail polish works to
Very helpful! How do you do the last step of polishing once you wait a month for it to dry?
Almost 41, 000
i tried to find those ultrabrush on the lee Valley site but darn to much stuff on thercan't find them ;o(((
Can the crack affect the sound of youre guitar?
I fixed a chip on my black Gibson SG with some black gloss nail polish
How can you tell what finish a guitar has? Nitro, Poly...???
920 represent! im not far from grafton !
what is the name of Lacquer drip..? please send me the link to buy!
Dave,
Epi's are polyurethane, Gibsons are nitrocellulose.
What do you charge for this type of repair

You're welcome, Dave. :) Just kidding. Love seeing a video every day or two from you about how dumb people can be with their, or God forbid, other peoples' guitars.
