I’m a Japanese from Tokushima Prefecture. Tokushima is original of Awadance and we have a big festival of Awadance. So I have watched it hundreds of times but I never heard anime’s chants. We usually use different words. I think Tokushima Prefecture’s Awa dance festival in summer is the best, and it is much more incredible than anime’s. Actually I don’t like anime’s Awadance. Because I can’t feel respect for real Awadance.
I agree. I have seen and danced Awa Odori many times in Tokushima and the real dance is MUCH better than the version in the anime. The real dance is filled with joy, power, and spirit. The version in the anime is just lifeless and stiff.
