Atarashii Gakko - Tokyo Calling First Reaction

this was my first reaction to Atarshii Gakko's "Tokyo Calling" MV. Such a nice weird change of pace from all of the XG videos i've watched. Emphasis on the weird though lol, Atarashii Gakko is for sure a group i'm going to look into going forward.

AG is going on and AG are definitely "weird".
Atarashii Gakko No Leaders (New School Leaders) was formed in 2015 by Asobisytem. Mizyu (the one with two ponytails) was already on their books as she was a back up dancer to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and they brought in Rin, Kanon and Suzuka to join her. The school girl uniforms come from when they were still in school and set out to represent "Japanese youth culture". They do all their own choreography and also create dances for other groups. They have some of the most original choreo I've seen from an idol group. In fact they are almost an anti-idol group as their motto is "With individuality and freedom I'm going to stick out" and they sing about challenging themes and have appeared at Pride events and do some pretty avant gard art projects. In 2020/21 they joined 88rising to break into the US market and have had success on social media and just completed a small N. American tour. They recently broke out on TikTok in Japan with Otona Blue which is quite an old song and the First Take version has over 50M views. So check that out next.

As both an AG and XG fan, I can tell you XG has the better intangibles, but Atarashii Gakko is a performance like none other (and they have actually met before). Check out some more..
