I almost cried watching this. I had tears when he passed 21 riders and was riding that lonely 4th position knowing he would lose his championship but he never gave up, rode like a champion and proved a rider needs heart to be a champion not speed and the no.of championship points. Thanks Valentino! #forever46! #forzavale!

+Ryan McIntyre true. But also don't forget that Rossi is probably the best on the grid at managing used tyres. The combination will be interesting, Marquez will be quick regardless. But I also can't see him going all year without DNF'ing a few times as he always rides so far on the limit (apart from Valencia 2015, of course).

The moment when Hayden pulled up alongside Rossi at 3:08 got so much more meaningful a few years later :(
After Hayden's death, Rossi recaptured this moment:
"But the best memory I have of him is when he came to shake my hand after the unfortunate race in Valencia in 2015, on the lap of honour. For him it was a goodbye to MotoGP™, and I had just lost the World Championship. His look of support from inside his helmet is one of the few positive memories I have from that day. Forza Nicky, we're all with you."

Nobody has ever done what this man, this legend, has done for this sport.
    Valentino Rossi is the one.
There are things in the sport that have even more value than a championship, and you can see this when people are screaming the name of the one who have lost, riders are shacking the hand and showing respect to the one who have lost.
Because the one who have lost in this case is the one who won the love, who won the honor, who won the respect...
the one who’s name means MotoGP.
    Valentino Rossi 💛

I think those handshakes were beyond showing respect and made Rossi to know they are with him, but the riders felt this race was something special. They had the chance to experience as a legend ride as he gives all what he got and made him the best rider ever and they took a part in it. If we recall those glory memories when The Doctor fought agains those magnificent rider back in the day and those battles what he won were all relived in Valencia. This race was more than a battle for a title. This race was a statement and proof, Valentino Rossi is the the rider who personalize everything what motorcycle race about and what a rider should be to reach the highest level in racing. And if we watch this race, without any preconceptions and not to make any theory about conspiracies, makes it all clear. To compete as Rossi did in his age after 16 years of top class racing is amazing. To judge him negatively or not respect his acheivements is not else but jealousy by people who doesn't feel themself wise, confident and persistant enough to be as successful as Valentino. It is nothing about how good rider Jorge Lorenzo is. Jorge got everything to be champion as he proved it already with 5 titles. But without any sarcasm. The other champions on the grid can't be compared to Valentino Rossi yet. Not because he won 9 chamionship, not because he has more than 100 trophies, but because how he did it. He had good days when wins came easy like it did for any great young rider. He had bad days, when everything went wrong. He was really loved and hated over more than a decade. Then he stood up again and won the greatest title again. He defeated uncertainty what built up by people who tought Rossi is not good enough to be champion again. I hope he feel the same about it as I do and this race gave him some extra strenght to fight for his crown next year again, as he does since 1996. I respect Jorge Lorenzo and Marc Marquez too. I do not want them to fail or wish their title would be Rossi's. But what I saw in Valencia, even I never lost my hope in Valentino, was mesmerizing. To see someone fight until the last second even everybody in the world knows he can't win without a miracle and he does not give up whatever happens is unbelieveable. Maybe in 10-15 years time we think about Marc or Jorge in the same way. But that's insanely far away.

As I've said in a lot of my comments on here; the riders were all rooting for Vale, and all knew what went on. That says a lot and will speak volumes going forward. There's an underlying respect from the riders with Rossi, because they can all just look at him and be like wow, this guy has been at the top of this sport for 16 years, he's now 36, he's still at the top and he's still faster than me.

At the 2015 closing station, I saw Lorenzo win the world championship at his home stadium in Spain, but the cheers in the entire stands were not for Lorenzo, but for Rossi! The Spanish audience cheered for the Italian Rossi, but Lorenzo won the award. The stage was booed, and almost all the drivers came to greet Rossi when they were going back around the field after the game. When Rossi returned to the PIT, it was obvious in the video that all the staff of other factory teams also came out to say hello to Rossi. Rossi applauded and cheered. Chez Kr It's in this video, just go to the time 3:09. You see Rossi gets a pat on the arm from Hayden, but he doesn't realize it's Hayden until he starts to ride passed him.
Rossi knows it's Hayden's last ride in MotoGP so he reaches out to him to get him to come back, then he twists the throttle a little bit to catch up to Hayden to give him a proper goodbye. Grabs his hand with both of his hands to let him know he'll miss him from MotoGP.
The handshake he gives Hayden is different to the other handshakes and back-pats he gives to any other rider in this video.
I'm sure there's a lot of respect between these two riders for so many reasons - especially for their championship battle in 2006, and when they were teammates at Ducati. And just the fact that they're both professionals that handle the MotoGP life with class.

So Jorge Lorenzo, aged 28, at the peak of his powers, with the general consensus being that he had more speed than anyone else this season, did not lead the championship until the chequered flag fell for the final time and took it by a margin of just 5 points.
His opponent, 8 years his senior, who has seen a few generations of racers come and go during his stay in the premier class, finished ahead of him in 2014, and almost got the title this year, despite his supposed lack of 'outright pace' as so many asserted.
The more I reflect on this season, the more I realize what a titanic effort it was for Valentino to do this at the grand old age of 36, this being a sport which chews up and spits out the very best in their early 30s. The 10th title, sadly, wasn't meant to be (we can list the reasons why) but what has been was pretty fricking legendary! #ForzaVale

He couldn't handle the stress and frustration so spoke bad after Philip island where marquez took 5 points from Lorenzo by winning that race. Rossy told what he all knows... Marquez did the same in Indianapolis, in the middle of the championship, and surpassed him in the end, because you attack someone only if you are sure that you can make times fast enough to get away from him. Marquez had the same pace as him, so the most logical thing for him to do was to stay behind him and then attack him at the end, so as to better preserve the tyres. If he attacked Lorenzo for the entire race, then Pedrosa would have just passed them both way too easily. In fact, Lorenzo mentions Pedrosa when he talks about "a help between compatriots" because he knew what Marquez was up to, and Pedrosa attacking him definitely helped Lorenzo getting away, even if it's just some few tenths of second, but those one or two tenths of second can decide both a race and a championship as a whole.

The acts of Marquez from the end of the 2015 season will never be forgotten in the hearts of the true fans of the sport. A true champion never clashes with other riders currently fighting for the championship. A true champion always does his best to win the race or to win the championship and does not interfere like that in other riders fightings. Philip Island 2015, Malaysia 2015 a Valencia 2015 were a terrible evidence of that. VR is the true champion of the 2015 season. Real shame! Many champions did things, that weren't right, like for example Schumacher in 94, 97, Alonso in Hungary 2007, Hamilton in Abu Dhabi 2016, Rossi in Jerez 2005 etc. etc., but always under the immese presure during the fight for the victory. Marquez wasn't fighting for the victory at the end of the 2015 season.
