The stock in the tote boxes is a way to avoid business rates, a company (dummy company) will rent (for free) the building for 3 months and so they get it rates free and they put stock (junk) in tote boxes, They have to cover a certain % of the floor thats why they space them out like that. Once they move out, the building ower then gets 6 months rates free as the buidling is empty. You see it a lot in warehouses.
Very interesting explore, thanks Matt. What a huge place.
Great explore thanks matt, what a labyrinth, reminds me of the Beatties Department Store in Wolverhampton, which is still empty and seeking an investor.- price tag = £7.5 million.
Old money ..loved shopping in sutton coldfied store had some right bargains thier..wonder if the sutton coldfieds shops still open.?😮
and whilst your at it up the cherries, welcome to Bournemouth, you got in there just in time its being redeveloped into uni housing and smaller shops soon.
Another one on my doorstep! Used to love shopping in Beales (along with Dingles next door and Debenhams) Sadly now all have gone. Eerie to see you walking over shop floors with the counters and signage still there - which until recently were full of merchandise.
Such a shame - it’s a huge building with fabulous views from the roof and not far from the cinemas you visited!
Well done on one of your best explores yet!
👍👍
I heard the covid-19 pandemic was the reason why that business shuttered a lot of businesses had that same similar issue in the United States
Thanks Matt. Brings back memories. Bournemouth is in a sorry state these days. Fab place in the 90's.
Oh kids.. pay attention. The breakers for the lifts are by the desk and clearly numbered.
Fantastic explore Matt!
Great explor Matt enjoyed looking around the store and couldn't believe how massive the shop was 👍
The red 'twisty' power sockets are to try and prevent accidental disconnection of critical equipment (often by the cleaner plugging in the vacuum). A UPS is an uninterruptable power supply - using large rechargeable batteries and an inverter to provide 240 volts (usually to comms and IT equipment), automatically switching to backup power in case of mains failure.
That was an EPIC Explore
The Brox firework sign is retro now, they actually started making in 1698 Islington
Indeed WoW folks Interesting explore Matthew Thank you very much folks Cheers
Cool explore. 😁
Man, talk about city of bones! How many secret areas does one building need? 😂 You found a few secret vaults in secret places! I love that you notice the silence and say the place is so massive that even Jordan is silent! 😅 Thank you!
There's a empty one of these in Mansfield aswell
Brilliant explore Matt xxx❤🙏🙏🙏
Where has Jorden gone to.
Super clean and well maintained for an old department store.
Great explore was Beales in Worthing but got converted into flats thanks for showing
Nice of them to leave power on for you
Very good👍🏻🐪💨💨
Nice explore Matt so far
Great explore Matthew, That store closed in 2020, and there are plans to extend the building up to 13 floors with 130 flats and commercial units as the bottom, I wonder if covid finished the business off.
could i please get a dm of information if possible as a local i would love to see it.
Welcome to Bournemouth plus I use to go in there with my nanna brings good memories back to me thank you
Another great explo, Matt that place was Massive ❤️👍🏻
Nice Matt! Another good explore. The HFC227ea = FM200, now regulated under the F-Gas rules. It's not dangerous for people though.
Iain must Be Bealing!👀😂
Should leave the lights on
🙋🏻♀️Hello! Can you please tell me the date this store was first built or opened for business? I am very interested historically in old high street buildings such as Beales. Thanks! 😎👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It looks 1930's late Art Deco.. In the popular "ocean liner" style seen in early large airports. I bet it was a lovely shop back in the day.
Who walks past at the end of the room at 5.24 minutes?
His two friends that he came in with !
@@juliahoyt3162 Really? He only discovered the door was open
6 storey grow
Plenty of power available, lots of secret spaces, so probably will end up as one.
15:00 Locker room for staff. Mirror is still there. Lockers either side are gone. And the access is one way in, the other way out.
❤❤❤❤
Well i am not going to bealls ealls for tea and crumpet now its closed ed 😂
The boxes of random crap must have been left over stock from all the floors?
I'm freee
Im local guess wont be getting in here now
Did you delete my comments man wtf for? Or was it an other video and I was to stoned?
🥇
Great explore Matt, whats wrong with your camera about half way through.
The strange almost crescent shaped artifacting that started as he went up some stairs? I thought that was just my ancient computer being a pillock again, or my eyes going a bit squiffy.
