I am always so glad to see Mig 17's at any airshow I attend. They were way ahead of their time. You can actually afford one. Just not the fuel.
The rate of climb is just mental for an aircraft over 60 year old. Lovely

Worked a hotbox where Randy was performing over a decade or more ago. Was able to really dig over this aircraft. Recall him mentioning his continual training with overseas air forces still utilizing the older Soviet birds.

That pilot perhaps had prior military training, the way he flew was so aggressive.

The mig 17 had the tightest 360 degree turning ability of a fighter jet until the f16 came along

@@hippoace The F86F and the MiG 17 never fought each other. The MiG 17 was never deployed in Korea. The only dogfights that come close are between Chinese J-5 and Taiwanese F86F and were pretty even. So, at the end a Situation where the better (trained) Pilot holds the upper Hand...

Wow! The MiG is quite the performer! What a difference between it and the Phantom in terms of turning -- two adversaries that shared sky over SEA. Now you can own them for yourself. Great video as usual!

The AK47 of Red aircraft, very lethal, one pilot , one engine uses all of its advantages to great effect and NO REO to share any glory with ! Only the pilot gets the ACE !!
YES.....I compare it and the MiG15 with the AK47.
The automobile equivalent for me is the Citröen DS31 in terms of form and function.

What a beautifully elegant aircraft, and a fantastically talented pilot!! Many peeps will think this is such OLD TECH, but just imagine a swarm of these, and all AI pilotted too, and you can see the effectiveness already ie 10 x 10M AI "OLD TECH" vs 1 x 100M HI!!!

CAF has both a Polish MiG-15 and a 17 in the hanger, sans engines. I can't convince them to buy into the insurance and making some of their inventory airworthy.
