Any plans on doing a video for the closed end pen mandrel system and how it all works and showing the making of a closed end pen using the mandrel system?

Such a wonderful instructor. No ums or ahs. Stayed in sequence of correct steps. It does look as if the clay is “proud” around the bushings instead of flush with the bushing. Is that typical of clay pens?As soon as he suggested to hide a “messy seam” I knew he was the real thing. Only a trick that someone who has made pens before would know that. Great video. Just submitted my order.

This was a terrific video. I watched it several times and purchased a kit and presser! I just made my first pen and I love it. I wish the website had a space dedicated to polymer clay. I'd love to learn more about using your different products with polymer. It doesn't look so easy to find other blanks that are compatible with polymer. Thanks

To answer some of the comments, we do plan on demoing other pen styles. They can be made flush using carbide tools or sanded. The video was geared towards an absolute beginner with clay so we didn't focus as much on bulk and fine finishing. With the clay it's very easy to get any result you like. Thanks for the feedback.

Can you turn these down with carbide tools so they're not so bulky? Or do you need to sand them down to the bushings to make them flesh?

Figured this out must use a mallet to get the top on tight.

  • @ambientartphotography2245

Great video. But no need to buy a pen press unless you are making tons of pens. A simple one handed bar clamp that you get for about $5 works fine.

I have made several pens so far and I must say I'm highly disappointed in the process. I have found the blanks are not hard after cooking but are rather like soft rubber. I have used a thermometer so think the temp is right. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but the pens are so bad that I won't even give them away. I would rather disasember and start over with wood or some other material. Can you provide some insight as to what I'm doing wrong? I hope you are still watching this video for comments. Thanks so much.

Where can I obtain a wide variety of polymer clay..The hippy flowers & rock candy patterns are nice, but lets face it, they're pretty boring. I saw some Christmas ones with trees & houses but that's about it. somebody out there has to have jumped on the bandwagon....right?

if there not flush hun simple means you need to match the thickness to your bushes. same as when we buy new pen kits you need to get the new bushes as their your guide to fit the pen kit you purchased
