Please please please renew this show for a second season!!! Absolutely fascinating. My heart really goes out to all the survivors, absolutely heartwrenching and frightening experiences
Yeah, this type of content is fascinating. Even though it’s based on the experiences of people who have survived horrible encounters out in the wild, hearing them speak about everything they went through to survive the life-altering brushes with the worst of Mother Nature, makes for riveting storytelling.
Yes!
I like how all the different birds just chill on top of the hippo's backs. 😄
You would never get me in a canoe or a kayak going down that River.
Same.
For real! I’ll watch pics /video footage
These are the most intense survival stories I’ve heard of. I found myself starting to hyperventilate a few times. These men are absolute hero’s in my book.
This video made me edit my bucket list
The wild will not miss you!!!
You want to lose a limb in Zimbabwe?
this video is why i want a big gun in nature
Same 😂
They want to be half eaten by a bear maybe
I don’t think there’s enough ads on this video. May we have another?
utube is going for gold, with as much advertising bucks before its bunker time.
Just pay for premium of course
I'm confused? What ads? I had zero ads the whole 44:24 minutes! 🤨🤔......Oh wait, I almost forgot, I downloaded the Brave browser for free, and now I get zero ads. I actually kind of miss ads, some of them introduced me to some cool companies. Kinda miss some of them...
Amazing stories, and spirits they have even with losing vital body parts. I love these documentaries about animal attack survivors telling their stories. I'm from western Washington state and thought that story would be a mountain lion. People who live away from the suburbs, even if they aren't necessarily "out in the woods" will tell stories of mountain lions roaming their property and scratching trees a few meters from their house. Apparently if you hear a song bird chirping at night, it's actually a mountain lion.
@Darryl Duncan m
I live in Maple Valley amongst cougars, bears, bobcats, coyotes, elk and deer. I never see cougars, but I hear their mating calls every year and 2 years ago my dog had a near fatal run-in with a cougar. Their numbers are being reduced due to land conversion- people move out here and then clear their land, fence it, get a dog, or let blackberries take over, reducing habitat for all of the above. It is heartbreaking. They buy a forested lot and then cut the trees down the first time they experience a wind storm. It makes my head explode.
I have definitely heard a song bird chirping at night in my woods. I always wondered what bird would be chirping at night. Now I am wondering if it wasn't a cougar....
@@darrylduncan3528 seriously"" there are cougars in the rockies but in the ozarks. have any videos share them
what vital body parts have been lost?
What an incredible group of people, I really wish them well and good health. What heroes, great documentary
When your under water in a hippos mouth time goes by really slow! Omg I can’t imagine that feeling. Simply incredible stories!! Thank you
These are 2 amazing stories of survival against powerful animals and against all odds, it's unbelievable anybody could even survive such attacks. I was not bothered by the abrupt cuts from story to story, I thought that actually added more suspense to the stories. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this fascinating video about animal behavior and man's will to survive, 2 thumbs up!
Hello 👋 lane how are you doing?
It makes me think of the herbivore dinosaurs, and how they are always depicted as slow, docile, dumb, lumbering beasts. Just because they aren't carnivores maybe.
And how they probably behaved more like the hippo. At least during calving season.
two of the bravest men ever. both had opportunities to run when the animal was distracted but they both went back and risked it all
These are brave men , So glad that they both survived , an amazing couple of stories .
What, no documented attacks on humans by a black bear?? In the Great Swamp, NJ a black bear stalked 3 college students. Picked 1 out, killed and ate him. Ate him !!!
Good would be wastefull otherwise
Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant should not be giving out false information. She is definitely wrong. Although rare, there are incidents of Black Bears predating on humans. She is no expert.
But was it documented?
@@tonyprice2256 ofcourse it was.
@@tonyprice2256 there's been quite a few black bear attacks on humans n pets in NJ 2022.
I didn’t even notice he had injuries to his face/body until the bear attack was explained and the recovery process. Modern medicine is crazy
Loved the character of the two men in this story. What amazing courage!! Weirdly, the thing that touched me most was the bit about the land mines. Most people in the western world do not understand the vast number of mines out there in war torn countries. Even going back many tens of years. I think land mines should be illegal to make or use in any conflict. Because they are not just directed at military targets. They affect civilians as well as wildlife. Hats off to those who are helping overcome this problem.
@~I STAND OUT~ Yes. I agree 100%. But those that make wars don't care about anybody or anything besides the money they make from those wars.
Blessed be God they both survive these attacks. My condolences to the ranger that passed away on the river that day.
Guess God didn't care too much for the Ranger that day.
@@amusedBYfools: There isn't no such thing as god so that's probably why
"And I knew I was in real trouble when he told me he'd give me a free pizza if I lived." This is a miraculous guy with an incredible sense of humor.
What a sad but miraculous story! ❤️
Gran historia, me encantan estos documentales sobre sobrevivientes de su ataque narrativo
Very well documented. In South Africa, Kwa-zulu natal we are fortunate that we can drive out a few hours to see these majestic animals, their power and size go unmatched and always amazing to watch, scary, but amazing none the less. Maintaining a respectful distance is imperative.
These men are both Boss's!!! Just incredible!!!
silver lining the hippo is a vegetarian.he will just kill you not eat you:)
I cannot understand how people living out among wild animals do not go out prepared or with a partner, what the heck is wrong with people? Very brave and glad they survived. Perhaps others will learn to always be prepared.
People go out into nature to find peace, which is rather ironic because nature is one of the most brutal places on Earth.
zambezi - one client in his kayak - hippo overturns it, no mention of the client - on the island, one guide missing, no mention of client - he as to get to out of there of course for medical attention and mentions leaving 'clients' behind, now more than one - doc ends with no mention of the client - did she survive?
its not about the client, its about the $ and advertizement $$ did i metion money??
You cannot blame the hippo especially since he had attacked before they took the risk it was amazing he survived
That’s right! I’m not trying to be funny, but when I was looking initially, I was wondering, did the hippo bite off part of the top left side of his head! 😀. But I’m glad he survived!
@@marjorjorietillman856 Not going to see them anywhere.
He had hippo attacks prior ..many "close calls " and still went back into the hippo territory? Wow
“You cannot outrun a black bear”. Usain Bolt” hold my coffee “.
The bravery of these men defies. They had more than equal their strength to live as oppose that creatures strength to kill them. People should take a lesson instead of looking and making jokes. Their bravery is unrivaled.
What legends Paul and John are.
Hello from KZN, South Africa 🇿🇦
Probably a small young Bear. So when we decide to move into the forest, every thing living there has to die or move.
That's a great way to put even more animals on the endangered species list.
Interesting. Thank you
Why is the dudes head so conical, or pointy on the top? 😅 at 1:03.
He was bitten& held in a vice like grip by one of the strongest bite forces of nature…..
Turning him into a Conehead, in case Dan Aykroyd no longer can act in a plausible sequel, we can call this guy to stand in 😂😂😂😂
Hippos aren't actually "Fantastic Swimmers"... They can't swim at all.
But did he get the pizza?
The important questions
Poor gu y didn't look much of a match for a bear fair play for surviving
Omgoodness 😮 so thankful that they both survived.
great stories but so much better when you do one story at a time
Bearspray is a very effective defensive weapon
sometimes
Except when it's not.
hmm walking in the dark in the mountains none too smart. The guy should have packed a high power hand gun.
It depends if it is windy or not.
Switching from one story to another all the time is realy aggravating
Yes I agree, extremely frustrating!
People, please, if you live in an area where bears lives, always carry protection from them (spray at least). Don't even go out without it. I live in Poland, here we can find bears in our villages, which are located near the mountains or in the mountains themselves. The probability of meeting a bears is very small, but I always walk with a spray, which in theory should scare away a bear if he decides to attack me (I have not had to test in practice, but I hope that the spray will not fail). I tell every tourist I meet in the mountains about it. You protection from wild animals it`s only your responsibility. In our country, if a bear has attacked a person, rangers find him and kill. I think this is a monstrous injustice to the animal. But rangers do it, unfortunately. You came to this animal's house (forest, mountains, etc.), take care of your safety.
That must have been so horrific in that moment when he realized his eye was gone!
What a friend
Amazing episode
Ahh yess i remember this story in an episode of Human Prey, pretty vicious attack!! That episode must be an older one, they look much older now 😂😂
Ahh I'm hearing details either different to, or not included in the episode..
What i want to know is does one eye bear guy still have the cabin by the forest, or did he sell it off to an unsuspecting family? And does cone head safari guide still paddle small canoes down that same river saying trust me bro, it's all good?
Great story glad everyone survived They always said we live in the animals environment 🙌
There was a guy who died on the Zambezi River. They mention in the documentary
Amazing
amazing there not all dead.
This has got to be the coolest way to loose a limb and survive.
yeah and parts of your head living it cone shaped!!
@@comfortncube510 I didn't want to say it, but, yeah, that too.
Oh yeah!! This kid had both arms riped from the shoulders by a farm machine, he still walked to his front door before his sister saw him...
That's crazy just to think about!!!!
Blessings to you all from puerto rico with lots of love
Are u for real when there's nothing cool about being in excruciating pain and living the rest of ur life not being able to use ur arms or legs again?
@@markwake3943 Oh please....Of course there isn't anything cool about being in pain and permanently disabled. The part that's cool is that he was attacked by a giant hippopotamus out in the wild, and he survived!
Hungry Hungry Hippoooo 🤙
Amazing stories
Very beautiful creatures
It's fortunate that both men are alive. It just may be the big animals thought that people are there in their territory, and might think that they are a threat. They are fascinating to watch yet understandable to have that behavior as a wild creature. Keep safe everyone to those who are adventurous enough to go into the wild :)
You would never catch me in a canoe floating down a body of water where there are crocodiles and hippos. Both are too dangerous. It would be easy for those animals to topple over a canoe. I might go if the boat was bigger, heavier and had higher sides for protection. I'm so glad both guys survived the attacks by the dangerous animals, from the hippo and black bear.
I'm not going if the sides are 8 feet tall lol.
Wow he sounds so much like Tom Hanks
3:55 Hippos are fantastic swimmers?
that is absolutly False information. Hippos cannot swim, they just drag their feet on the river/lake floor. That's a fact from a couple of other NAT GEO documentaries, and u can easily see it when watching them underwater
OMG I thought I was the only one thinking this same thing.....what the heck?!
I'm pretty sure I learned that info on this channel!!
They say it more than once too .... 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Well they can move through the water faster than you can swim or paddle a boat.
Paul needed to wear his fire arm and a knife on him or some of the other people needed to also wear weapons, doesn’t seem like they where prepared to be in hypo country
I'm left wo n during if he had some sort of a head injury in his life also maybe in his past due to his head seems to be quite slopped on one side.
He is a walking talking miracle for sure.
Now that’s a bad day, in the mouth of a hippo twice! Legend
Great video
Wouldn’t the height of respect be, though, to stay out of their areas, not build or buy homes or cabins there?
The cycle of life..
I did two 7-Day segments on the Zambezi they say if a rogue hits you and knocks your canoe over don't swim to shore go lengthwise with the canoe and supposedly the crocodiles hopefully won't see you we stopped for a few nights at Mana pools at least it was 20 years ago the only Park in Africa where you don't need a guide with a gun I saw zebra and one hyena sleeping yeah everyone needs to go to Africa there's no other place like it
Wow I feel for them omg 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
And the guy with the hippo attack I know what he’s talking about when he had a choice to make should he go or should he stay. I remember after a concussion coming off of a horse making the same decision this is very accurate the bear guy no he didn’t kick anything she just quit. Gah.
The King is coming...
Are you saved?
Wait what happened to Evans?
Died
@@GuapoGTM How? They just said he was gone. Did he drown and floated away?
That's what I was wondering and waiting for an answer about.
you see the cone head on that guy lol
I would say travel on the Zambezi is too dangerous.
tv cliffhanger edit- bad bad bad !!
BEFORE Planet Of The Apes....there was a short story, wherein BEARS ruled over Humans
Cannot understand how flying wouldn't be safe for transporting Paul versus driving over road for 6 hours.
They are very brave
Were they brave? Were they stupid? Or were they both brave and stupid?
Taking out my he rouge male when it started happening would have been a better strategy
Stick to 1 story at a time..Jumping back and forth is a NO NO!!!!
I am phobic about bees and wasps. I'm not worried about alligators because I live in Toronto. Our raccoons can handle a 12 ft gator no problem.
I can’t believe how pointy that guys head is 😮
When you know there are hippos there why would you float out there on a dang canoe? Don't they have fan boats or something more reliable? And you know a shotgun or three ? 🤷💯
Why not just avoid their territory altogether and leave the endangered animals alone?
I thoroughly enjoyed both stories about these people but quite honestly I hate the way you present them!!! Just till the freaking story all the way through and then go to the next story....
Amen!
I agree im anxiously waiting the conclusion of the Hippo story and it switches to the bear story. I thought i clicked on whole other video. Smh
Agreed 👍
Dude.....NatGeo does that and I hate it.... Same with to catch a smuggler. They burst in the door, police, everybody down......done suddenly they switch to another character n scene😡😡😡🤦🏽
I also agree, without notice I just thought it was an ad and I would not see the rest of the story. The video was just not well done, although a great story.
I wonder how that guy feels that his attack was compared to a bear attacking a hog.
yah..the idea is to eliminate the theat either way:)
😮
maybe the bear ate a kilo of cocaine?
The only thing I could think about the bear attack was that those are some useless dogs
Animals are not at fault. These people were in their homes and they only know how to defend themselves
Y’all see a group of hippos but stay in the water with them. Very stupid!
Bad idea in a small canoe.
Yup as humans we are at the bottom of the food chain
Stop switching between stories it’s truly awful: not only is it unpleasant but it’s really bad for your brain and attention span
I'm going to stay away from the wild wild season. God this is aweful.
If hippos can knock a boat over sending a person diving then why would anyone go into the hippo waters on a small boat..not brillant
Not armed in bear country will get you this
Yea right story tellers. I can't
Anyone been here ?
That man's head looks like a 🔼
😯
Terrifying
Us chicks dig scars and bad boys!
Why is this lady giving us advice on how to survive a bear attack....and not a survivor. Loved the stories tho🤘😵🔥
She is an 'expert' because she studied about them from reading books.
@@tonyprice2256 Nah. She's an expert cause she has experience with them and has multiple degrees
Waooo
Dr. Grant said that you should fight against a Black Bear.
Again, this is false information. It depends on the scenario.
If you're sleeping in your tent at 3 am, there is no food in your tent and the bear is
biting on you through your tent, then yes fight back, because it is trying to consume you.
The eyes and nose are most sensitive. But if you are out hiking and you come upon a black bear at a carcass or it has a young cub, then you "do not" fight back. Curl up in a ball. Cover your head and back of neck with arms and hands. Do not move or make a sound. Play dead. The bear will sense that you are no longer a threat and stop attacking. If you move or make a sound, it may attack again.
If you are near a carcass you could try to quietly move away from the carcass if the bear is preoccupied.
If it attacks again, play dead. Bears have an excellent sense of smell and hearing. A bears vision is comparable to the vision of humans, out to a certain distance. They see in color, leaning more to the blue/green spectrum. Also, bears have supremacy over humans in terms of night vision, field of view, and underwater vision. Bears have tapetum lucidum (a reflective layer) that allows them to see precisely at night.
I saw a black bear while hiking after a chili fest, when I saw it my bowles urrped and evacuated my body filling underwear and thickly escaped my garmets running down my legs and filling my boots and socks.
The only choice was to claw uphill as any remnants were popping out with air pressure and noise. Once atop a boulder 8ft tall the bear lost interest and left downhill, I waited for 30mins, then continued the trail to my car in the 90f plus heat a total mess and only had Cokes in melted ice to drink and wipe my boo boo with fast food napkins..it cost a $100 detail job to somewhat clean the fabric seats and no AC.
Hello 👋 j.b how are you doing?
