It was really weird seeing people sexualize draco when he was 13 and people defending that saying that “he isn’t anymore” or it’s “just a fictional character” made me uncomfortable cuz that’s literally a child, no matter which way you slice it.

i feel like every halloween/fall there is a peak in the harry potter craze. like it happens EVERY SINGLE YEAR. and dracotok was created in early september… coincidence?

It’s depressing cuz people who never watched the movies or read the books start watching the movies only for Draco and join the fandom without truly knowing what Harry Potter means.

I'd like to think that at a certain point Harry Potter had chilled out into a comfortable love for the franchise, but I guess the internet has proved me wrong 😭

this is parallel to the goth/alternative scene. goth was a dying subculture but then all of a sudden, emerged the tiktok e-kids and goth was back on shop shelves again. however it ended as soon as it came. i was so confused, like who are these people who just came and went and why did alternative clothes suddenly peak for no apparent reason? honestly, i think it was bcus of quarantine. most people were stuck at home with nothing to do so they decided to explore new interests and it happened to come in the form of alt clothes and harry potter. 😂

honestly I agree with everything said in the video. I started watching hp bc of dracotok just to see draco. I never pretended to be a slytherin just for him though. but a year after dracotok started I realized how much I loved Harry Potter and not just for draco. Harry Potter honestly saved my life, without it I wouldn’t have a comfort character. it surprises me how much harry potter changed my life

I had a girl in my class who was EXTREMELY obsessed with draco, she hadn’t ever read the books and even told everyone that she only watched the movies for draco. We were even having a convo abt tiktok in lunch and I brought up dracotok and how gross it was. She looked around and said something around the lines of “ Im on dracotok” I just laughed it off but inside I was a bit pissed

I miss the time people were honest with themselves as Slytherins. And this is like the first ever time someone has been honest with it!

things on tiktok that also equate this type of energy/hysteria: One Direction Tok, Harry Styles Tok a boom in things that everyone liked before. I think it's because younger kids appreciate it now because they can relate to it when before they were walking around in diapers not caring who they were when the fandoms were at their peak globally

Watching this (late) as my sisters and brother in law jusy finished watching the 4th movie. We all are in our late 20s and early 30s and remember Harry Potter well from the book craze from our elementary to teen years to the movie craze that ended into our early 20s. We all aren't on tiktok so when I saw this I was curious then my stupid self looked up dracotok and was horrified 😂🥲. I was like... What is this nonsense 😂!? I am 30 (almost 31) and I felt the cringe and then concern 😬. I also think Tom Felton may just be milking it because though he has money etc. Maybe just something to do or interact with the fans idk🤷🏾‍♀️. Great video btw!

Being a fan of Harry Potter I do agree with what was said. Just joining the fandom to cause drama and then leaving it was embarrassing for us true fans. Do I l have a crush on Draco? Yes. But he's not why I love Harry Potter. It gave me a sense of creativity and imagination that I could embrace when reading the books, bringing back my childhood imagination that had died down over the years. Even though Jk Rowling is not a nice person for the things she has said she did give me an outlet away from everyday life.

As someone who utterly detests Draco, I'm honestly not surprised that a lot of that was the *Draco in Leather Pants* trope in a nutshell.
If you don't know what that is, just go to TVTropes and search that. lol

See heres the thing, i have read and watched harry potter so many times like i am obsessed with the series its very nostalgic to me. However, I do love draco so much. But i also love Ron weasley, so what im saying is im obsessed with just Harry Potter overall 😅 But I honestly hate when i say harry potter people say “oh for draco” LIKE NO i watch it for harry potter. But i still find draco attractive yk? 😭 IDK I loved dracotok so much but that doesn’t make him my fav character. Remus Lupin and Ron weasley will forever be my favs

i feel like it especially sucked for slytherins. like i’ve literally been raised by the books and it was really annoying to see a bunch of new fans say they are slytherins just because of draco. slytherin has always been one of the least populated houses but during dracotok it had by far the most people in it. it’s kinda nice to see on the polls on the wizarding world app that the slytherin number has gone down a lot lol

There’s a lot of gate keeping in these comments 💀. Also I don’t understand why it’s wrong to enjoy a trend and/or find new things through a trend? Like why’s it matter lol (no hate to anyone)
Also it’s a bit weird that Tom Felton is still milking Harry Potter 💀💀 a final thing is I found hp though tiktok and I still like it to this day and ngl I miss the tiktok bc it made me happy lol. I also think it became a big thing bc it was around the time a bunch of kids started getting tiktok so maybe that how it started 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

    • @zaina643

I mean, the fact that people are just joining a fandom, without knowing anything about it, just for a hot guy is saddening for me, as I have been a hp fan for 3 years now, this is just my thought though
There's nothing wrong about finding new things through a tiktok trend, it just that they are joining the fandom just to simp over a hot guy.
Also, people are labelling themselves as Slytherins, just cause Draco's in it, and it just doesn't seem right to me
I wasn't clear enough with my intentions ehdhsvgw
