So many people online that day were wondering how the smoke could’ve gone from Canada to New York….I guess those same people learned about what wind was that day, because anyone who understands basic science and biology…..would know that the wind can carry anything it wants for miles. The wind could pick up a small object from California, and have it travel miles away to like Arizona or something.
Just so everybody knows, there was also a major wildfire in Jackson County, NJ, which is in central NJ near Six Flags (between NYC and Philly). This helped blanket NYC, NJ, and eastern PA with smoke as well.
I doubt that. Unlike Canada, NJ is on the water and we know that the wind blows from the water to land. After the other day, I did not see or smell smoke.
It is imperative for this type of shot to use a fixed white balance, 5500 or 6000K, otherwise the Gopro will adjust and destroy the true color of the smoke, but also the golden light of the evening sun or the color of artificial lighting. This is one of the most important landscape settings. Thank you for indicating the date!
Here near Chicago we've had white skies for a few weeks from Canadian wildfires. But ours are from Alberta and British Columbia and we haven't been getting the fumes. Just a huge amount of haze.
amazing to see how the fire from canada affected the whole NY city. First time seeing NY city in the oragne smog..... it does give me a sense of Chinese fumed cities like beijing
