Just a great piece you have there Ricky!!!!!!! Love it thanks bud
Thanks Pete...It was there for the picking, I'm glad I pulled the trigger on this one ✌️
Rick that’s a nice edition to your collection I got the new Pioneer X with the additional scissors nice pocket carry, and on Friday I will be turning 74,thought I was going to be with my 4 kids and 4 grandkids but the COVID changed everyone’s mind,so no presents until later.
Yeah Larry, this Covid mess is tough on everyone - but separation is the best thing we can do for our loved ones at this moment in time. I think things are going to get better soon, so hang in there birthday boy -
Happy Birthday My Friend!
Be Safe for now😒
It has a great look to it, I think it's a bargain at $65 as it's a knife you will enjoy using, I like-the color, the brass and the cross. The 1950's before everything went insane. Plus I like the chunk of magnesium on the left, your collection is always nice on the eye. I think you'd have enjoyed collecting knives as a kid too.
Ahhh, you spotted my firestarter, good eye Stone - Yeah, I really like everything about this knife too. It will get alot of pocket time for sure✌️
I have carried a pioneer in my pocket since 1997 ! Not the same one as they have a habit of escaping?
I really wish victorinox had kept to the original design on these! It was discontinued around 1999 and when reintroduced in 2003? They went for a new look we have even today!
Very cool! I really like victorinox knives, and it's always neat to get to see a vintage one once in awhile. Good luck with the MRI, buddy.
Thanks David, You really don't see many vintage SAK's up for sale, I guess people like them so much they hold on to them for their entire life & with their quality construction, I can see why!
Take Care ✌️
I have the Pioneer X and it's one of my favorites.
Can't go wrong with Victorinox Rusty.. probably the most recognized knives ever made.
I love my victorinox knives.
That's what most everyone says about these knives Anita!...That ought to tell you something about them right there.
Jejeje you have everything, what a collection is enviable, you will see I love it, if I were there I would have others in your area GEC, Northwood, which here in Spain is difficult to buy, you also have a very good cutlery 👏👏 greetings
I'm going to give you a big Thank You on my next Video Ruben - You must be the 1st person ever to binge watch my channel!🤗😀
I have a pioneer with the old cross and a 97 stamped in the blade.
I love the Old Cross versions - I'm sure you agree since you also have one!... LoL
I'm not sure what the 97 means - mine doesn't have that. Probably made in 1997?
@@Warthogg1 to be honest. I exchanged it for a Buck camo knife lol. It seemed interesting and I wasn’t wrong.
You’d have to ask Mr. Harvey that one!!!!!!!
Mr Harvey will chime in.."utility/sak/military" knives are all his favorites
Nice find, that’s a cool model- great blade for sure. I think you got a good price- they are very popular and getting harder to buy. A Pioneer with brass liners will fall between 1957 and 1984. Unfortunately it’s impossible to narrow them anymore than that unless you have one with a surplus soldier knife blade with the date stamped on the tang.
I should have checked your channel! just watched your 2 video's on this knife.(your comments are turned off by the way). Both of knives pristine - curious to know how much you got for them on Etsy?. So, what I can gather, mine is most likely 1975 - 1984? (no Elinox stamp).
Thanks for all the additional information - I didn't know Victorinox "did" a stonewash or a brush grind on their earlier models.
Very business savvy to use overstocked parts from the Soldier model on the Pioneers.
Take Care✌️
@@Warthogg1 I want to say around $95 on those red Pioneers- less than what they would bring today obviously. That Victorinox stamp with the small V dates back to 52 but Pioneers began in 57. Brass liners on them stopped at 84. So I think your tightest date range is 57-84.
Enjoy
They don't produce the Old Cross ones any more as a standard production since 2000 I believe, but they did a few special runs and limited editions with OC scales after that. Thelast one was in 2011, if I'm not mistaken.
Thanks Miklos-
Any info you can add about this knife is a big bonus for me, I've never really did a deep dive into the Victorinox history - even though I've had at least one in my possession for most of my life.
But, I knew the "old cross" versions were special & some are extremely valuable - I've seen some sell for upwards of $1000. Of course this one isn't in that bracket, but the seller thought it was worth $155. So getting it at $65 seems like a bargain, especially since I love the vintage appearance it presents - and of course it's as solid as the day it was made.
Take Care ✌️
Hey Ricky I dont have any swiss knives YET! I do need to pick at least 1 up but we all know how that goes 1 turns into 10 lol.
@@stuartharvey2523 Thankyou Sir I will . I remember growing up every kid wanted a swiss army knife bc of Macgyver!!
@@stuartharvey2523 But being a kid I got the swiss knockoffs lol my Dad knew we would lose them in the woods.
didn't like it at first
10 minutes later,
cool as all get out
Good one Hogster
I do like a red Alox! I bought the red ltd edition set, was it 2018? They’ve never been out of their boxes!
I'm the wrong one to ask about SAK's Slick! I just bought this one because, in my opinion, it's the coolest Victorinox I've ever seen 😆👍
I would like to have an estimate of a victorinox similar to the one on the video, I have exactly the same one, there is no date on mine, Pionner alox red, the old cross, with the 4 tools intact and works great, it has the same wear as on the video. What is its estimate today in 2022 please? thanks ^^
Hello My Friend!,
as far as pricing, remember this - My Appraiser once told me: "The value of a pocket knife is as much as someone is willing to pay for it" ...
Just look at GEC knives, that quote rings true here.
1) Victorinox collectors will pay a premium for a piece that they want bad or need to fullfil their collection.
2) I was lucky, as I paid around $65 for mine, but I've seen them go for much higher.
I think you can expect to get $125 for yours, if of course its in full working order & has at least 90% of the blade steel left.
Thanks for watching blade brother!
Have a great weekend, sorry it took so long to reply - it's been a madhouse over here the past 2 weeks.
All the best to you and yours ✌️
Mine is a 2205 double blade in 2006 I found it at the dump helping my dad it's been my secondary edc now I'm getting nervous now that I've done research it is a supper durable knife. You got yours for a steal
