I think that ended the 19 inch vs. 21 inch wheel debate among many others. That was incredible.
Awesome love the big stand up wheelie, Miles is a animal on the big 1200's
Damn I need to get a bike! This looks fun as hell!
the bestt video of 1200 , that guy was flyingggggg lol nice video ...
Man, that guy can RIDE!!!!
I thought I was doing well on my r1200gs through the forest once when Miles past me like I was parked!!! He is an amazing rider
that was insane!
@BnSRTVguy The tyres are Continental TKC80 knobbies.
Holy Shit! He can wheelie that Beast in the SAND!!! I dunno who this Miles Davis is but he sure can ride!!!!! I can't even wheelie my KX250 at speed on a sandy trail like that!
Miles he is a beast!!!!!
RIDE ON BROTHERS!
Super!
Hi, can i ask why i rider of that level got the normal gs and not the adventure with 20mm more travel.
thanks,
@yocondino Miles Davis works for BMW and turns up on a different bike each time. This R1200GS was a current BMW demo bike I'm guessing.
Hey guy's it looks like he has one of those sand tyres on the rear from Usa ... Or is it just a knobie on the rear of the Bmw .. ??
FARKIN ELL!
EXACTLY !!!!! ;)
@NULUSIOS I have a GS 12 but I can't ride it like that off road!! The point I'm getting across is that this bloke is an awesome rider to ride a Gs like this off road , I don't get the Gs "haters" who slag it off just because its not traversing rock pools etc, stop comparing it to a 450 ... Different genres ..
Amen to that, brother... and yet, in extremely competent hands that bike can easily perform any of these tasks. Yeah, it's heavy, yeah it's big, yeah it's not a 450, but it has all the right genes in its DNA and if equipped with knobby tires at the right pressure everything you throw at it turns into a piece of cake.
Today I've completed an enduro training course in Hechlingen (Germany) and I'm in a complete state of awe; The amount of shit a GS can put with... oh my God, it's absolute bonkers. I have seen professionals fooling around with that big mama like it was a BMX bike, for fuck sake...
All my life I rode only classics and the reason I booked this training course was to learn how to ride my new GSA. Off-road. Properly. Man, all by my self I would have never ever guessed, not in a million years, what GS is capable of and more importantly, what "am I" capable of while in its saddle. They proved to me two things: #1- that R1200 GS could easily overcome pretty much any obstacle you may think of and #2- if something went wrong basically it is the rider's fault. "Control" and "body position" are the most important variables. You must practice a lot and learn how to control your body and the beast otherwise out there you're fucked. What is truly amazing is that until this Friday I have never ever went off-roading, not one single day in my whole life and man, you should've seen me today, merely two days later, confidently going up and down 45-60 degrees steep slippery slopes with rocks, gravel, sand and whatnot, 6-8-10 metres above my head... fuck me. I'm staring at my pictures taken by a professional photographer and I still can't believe it is me doing all that stuff. Funny thing is, I suspect I'm not that good; it is the bike who does pretty much all the hard work. Safe ride
I think the same as you. Pretty simply.... The guy drive fast... but.... ¿????.... The land, its so easy, flat and wide open.
How does he do it? He's a good rider. He knows his bike. He knows the road (yes, that's a ROAD not a trail).
So you have ridden one?
Ok have a look at this to see if it s not enduro ... it s a GS with a normal fork ...

That terrain doesn't look very difficult....so, there's a little sand. I've seen my friend ride a GS thru much tougher stuff than that ! Even though my 950 Adventure still works better !
Nice....he's not hardly even giving it any gas and hardly getting out of 2nd though fellas. As if a trail bike can keep up with 110 horses on a track like that, not a chance, TKC80's rock and they didn't put the traction pack on the GS for no reason, this is what happens when it's off....in saying that though you drop one of these baby's doing this and you're looking at maybe a $10K+ repair bill - when things go wrong they go wrong hard and fast on a 250kg bike!
erzberg rodeo hp2
I just dont understand why blokes keep comparing the GS to an Enduro.... its not, nonetheless, that bike, with that weight....is still a bloody handful down that trail..
GS1200 - the best dirt bike you can get, and it also does highway and adventure! Just like the best camera I've ever owned is my iPhone, the best enduro bike I've ever ridden is my GS1200. They are the best allround bike money can buy, pure and simple. You're crazy not to buy one.
looks like very easy terrain... dont see how it is impressive?

ok the guy is going fast for a 1200 gs offroad, but I'm not sure I would call this enduro riding. Pretty wide open, pretty flat, no stream or log crossings, not very techinical. again fast for a big bike on sand, but not enduro riding.
Ese camino es demasiado facil y simple..... Hasta con mi Transalp lo paso. No tiene ningua complejidad, es parejo, plano "una autopista de tierra". Que porquería de video.
That way is too easy and simple ..... Even with my Transalp 650 I overcome. Does not have any odds complexity. It is flat, "a highway of land." That crappy of video.
WOW! As a GS rider (95% street), I can tell you that it takes SERIOUS SKILLS to ride that fast on a GS off road- let alone SAND!
