      Well-said. She doesn’t fit the diagnosis for Anorexia but you can’t blame these people for making that assumption. Similar to Bulimia, BED, OSFED, PICA, Dysphagia and ED-DMT1, ARFID hasn’t had enough exposure.

    • @jessicastunden5562
      @jessicastunden5562 Před 4 lety +9

      Sophie Marshall yes but this is likely a problem brought on only recently. She’s been able to have two healthy toddlers, which is something people as underweight as her can struggle with. ARFID is a term that has only recently reached the DSM-5 so she probably was unable to seek a correct assessment or perhaps she has and it was decided that exposure therapy would benefit her. That’s essentially what this show is for the SuperSkinny folk. It’s actually quite brilliant. Sorry to blather on, I just find this diagnosis so interesting.

      @@matthewwilliams4168 since it's the parent's responsibility to ensure a child has a correct nutritional intake, and fruit and vegetables just aren't part of our natural diet, I would never even let a vegetable near any children I were to have. a bit of fruit during summer, yes, because I don't want them to starve while I go bankrupt in the winter, and fruit is naturally designed to be fattening for us. but not vegetables. they're unnecessary and, for many, toxic.

    ANYONE STRUGGLING TO EAT PLEASE READ WHAT HAPPENED TO ME TODAY!!!
    I am 15 and struggling with eating and my mum knows and took me to the hospital for a blood test so they could check my health. All my veins collapsed and they couldn’t help me they couldn’t take anything out my body or put any medication in. People don’t tell you this stuff but you’ll have so many complications along the way. Choose recovery

      No, with anorexia, you will end up noticing because it is a mental disorder. She would not have cried at the sight of her bones if she had ana, she would not long for weight gain if she had anorexia. With anorexia, weight gain is terrifying and you would rather die than gain anything. She doesnt have anorexia due to low caloric intake.

      What is Arfid? I think it's interesting that everyone in the comments are diagnosing these people. I think they have Doctors doing that already. I had anorexia, yet I would not attempt to say or know what Gillian is going through.

      She's not anorexic. She's not obsessing over putting on weight and she doesn't see herself as obese.
