- Early start to get to the Riffelsee to take photos at sunrise. Lovely conditions and (kind of) had the place to myself.

Wonderful natural beauty my friend. Thanks for sharing. God bless you.
Captivating, thanks for sharing Paul. Wow you get there in different seasons, nice! Cheers.
Beautiful sunrise with snowy Riffelsee! It must have been cold. I saw a few sunrises there in the summer, the lights and colors are different in winter. Thank you for sharing!
Yes. The autumn / winter sunrises have a different feel to summer. You need to make another trip. 😂
@@summitpaul Yes, I'll be back to see Matterhorn in January! I'm sure the lake is frozen... I just wanted to see Matterhorn inn snow.
Absolutely stunning Paul. Just love those mountain reflections 👌 you’re just coming into winter and it’s almost summer here. I prefer the snow though. Thanks for sharing mate 👍🙏
Cheers Adrian. Winter is def in the way!
nice video! I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Thank you. Appreciate you watching and commenting. 🙏
Beautiful Paul x

Nice video! Between last week in march and firt week in april, is the lake frozen? When did you take the photos? And another question (soryy😅)... are there only one way to get there? Tks
You can get there by walking from the train (2-3minutes) or walking from town (3hours).
The lake will usually melt at some point during May I’d say but it’s crazy warm right now so maybe climate change means it’ll be clear earlier. I’d guess it’ll still be frozen at the end of March?
Next time I visit Matterhorn, I want to visit Riffelsee, one of my regrets from last time :) nice vlog mate!
Ah. It’s quite a cool spot Oddbjorn. Stellisee is still the better lake if you ask me though. You hit the highlight on your last visit. But yes, you need to come again to swing by this one too. Thanks for watching. Appreciate you commenting.
Wonderful photography! What a place. No camera trickery 🙄 I was sat here telling the wife about your picture that won in the group and why I picked it and how I’ve been following you for quite sometime. Cracking vlog albeit a short burst of sunrise! 👍
Thanks Mali. Mountain sunrises so often seem short lived. Pesky clouds around a lot too. Thanks for watching mate.
Excellent Paul. I see people have trouble keeping a distance even in the mountains. 😳 🤔
Haha. True JB.
Its awesome. How and where to book the earliest train ticket and what time is the best to reach zermatt station in terms of getting proper seat?
Buy your ticket at the station or through their website.
First scheduled train only gets up there before sunrise in October but they now run pre sunrise trips weekly. Check it out.
Enjoy the lake and hope you get good conditions.
wow Paul... is that Winter with you already? It seemed a quick transituion from Autumn with you.. Fabulous refelction shots and loved the arty shot at the end too. How high is that and how long is the hike up from Zermatt? Atb Al
Still pretty autumnal here Al. Some snow around though. Got a couple of autumn colour videos lined up still. This is at a little under 3000m. About 2-3 hours walk from Zermatt. Second half of October though, the train gets up there before sunrise (til the clocks go back). Easiest sunrise in the Alps! Thanks for watching.
Hi Paul.. nice videos. BTW, what’s the easiest way for me to get to that lake at sunrise without breaking the bank and staying at that hotel?
Hi James. You could camp at the lake. Not officially allowed but tolerated if you set up late and break down your camp early. Obvs leave no trace.
Or just visit in the middle of October (when I made this video) and the first train gets up before sunrise.
Also, you can walk up from Zermatt. About 2.5-3 hours. Then you wouldn’t even need a train ticket.
Possible to get such a nice view in Early May?
Lake might still be frozen then. Worth a look though.
in early June ,May have a chance😅?
Hello .how do you reach early morning to the lake ? From zermat or from Gornegrat ?? Which is better
Depends on the time of year.
First train in summer leaves Zermatt at 0700. You miss sunrise if you get that train any time before October.
Walking from Gornergrat to the lake is about 45 minutes. Not really possible before the snow melts in June some time.
Hope that helps.
@@summitpaul and I f I plan a night stay in gorenagrat will that be helpful ?
Beautiful video, which one is more impressive the Stellisee or Riffelsee, I want to visit this place this September. At the Stellisee it's an our walk from the hut i'm staying, how did you do this at this place? I'm a photographer myself, so I like to be here before sunrise.
Hi Marleen. Both lakes are great. I personally prefer the Stellisee. The Matterhorn is it's classic pyramid from there. You see mainly the east face from the Riffelsee. Where are you staying?
@@summitpaul sounds great I’m thinking about the Fluhalp which is only 20 min. Walk to Stellisee.
does the lake melt in May?
Yes. Usually at some point. Depends on the temperatures and how much snow we have.
This year we had a lot of snow and April has been cold. Might not unfreeze for a few weeks? Worth going to look though.
@@summitpaulthank you. I'm going there on May 25. I really hope I could see the reflection of matterhorn from the lake🙏.
@@minglou3684 there’s still lots of snow around. I hope it melts for you
@@summitpaulthank you. Now I don’t anticipate the lake melts when I arrive. I just hope the weather could be nice😂
Believe me, Asians allways find a way to get in your shot😂
