    But guys, I loved the final final word of John the Baptizer: his head is on the block, he turns his face toward the window and beholds a lamb (!), the light is reflected on his face, and he says, "Thank You" to the Lord. A beautiful exit from this world to the next!

    I thought it was funny when Matthew was telling Tamar about Jesus giving him a look when he needs to write something down and just then He turns around and looks at Matthew and Tamar says excitedly...."Was that the look? As you talk about forgiveness the scene that impacted me deeply was Matthew talking to Jesus about how Peter has treated him, completely oblivious to his role in Peter's behavior. How Jesus with just a few questions gets Matthew to understand how he impacted Peter's life and livelihood and why in fact, he should apologize to Peter. I felt the sting...things I held against others while ignoring my actions that may have created the problem.

      Yeah and I kept wondering who Shimon was at the Sanhedrin who was angry at their decision regarding Jesus and watching previous seasons I found out it was Shimon, son of Hallel. I initially thought it was Simon, the pharisee who had leprosy whom Jesus healed, who gave a dinner in honor of Jesus where Mary anoints Jesus' feet.

    The Thomas/Ramah bit tied into the opening scene with David/Bathsheba and the loss of their son. That you can pray to God for healing, and sometimes He doesn't heal, and we don't know why. I'm just envisioning a tension from Thomas when Jesus raises Lazarus in a few episodes.

    • @abbykittle5058
      @abbykittle5058 Před 4 měsíci +15

      I'm thinking the same thing. He's going to be wondering why in the world is Lazarus going to be raised, but not Ramah? It will be incredibly interesting to see how they portray Thomas' arc moving forward.

      @judyridgeway-mills3076 Před 4 měsíci +29

      I think that this is where the "doubting" starts manifesting. Ramah isn't healed. Lazarus will be healed. Then, the Messiah doesn't even try to save Himself? I think Thomas will definitely question the Messiah's TRUTH and ABILITY. A test of faith, for sure.

      In my emotional response I forgot about the scenes with David and Bathsheba. 🙏🏻 Was so caught up in why Jesus said it wasn't her time when God knows our time. His knowing was the one thing that gave me comfort and peace in the grieving process when my dad died. I was so confused and I let my grief plow through. Now I see it as perhaps she was not going to be resurrected until later (Revelation). My husband saw other theories like Jesus wasn't going to perform another miracle of that caliber in front of a crowd including Quintus and other Romans.

      I prayed for healing for over 9 years! Prior to that I asked God to use me. The night of my first knee replacement, God gave me the opportunity to pray the salvation prayer with a 90yr old lady in my room and another lady who was terrified of the dark. If you pray to be used, do it sincerely and wait for God to use you His way. I love the scene of Little James when Jesus explains why he wasn’t healed yet. Spoke volumes to me! Helped me understand that God’s ways are not my ways. Season 4 is off to a great start.

    The controversial death of Ramah will signify who Thomas is, leading to one of his only recorded sayings, specifically from John 11:16, "So Thomas, called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with Him.”" This occurs before the resurrection of Lazarus, hence, this event explains why Thomas said that statement to the rest of the group later on that we will probably see in Episode 6/7 of Season Four. It will also illustrate why Thomas is a "doubting Thomas".

    I watched the three episodes last night. I have never gone to a movie where it shocked me so big and so hard, that I literally couldn't move until after all of the end credits had played through! I heard everyone else around me getting up and going out of the theater, but I had to just sit there! This is so strange, but even today, (the next day) I have had moments where I found myself just sitting and being just kind of aimless, as if someone that I loved had really passed away. There in the theater, the first thing I was able to say was: But He was right there!! Like He was physically right there and I said to my mom, that I am afraid I would have ended up being so angry at Him and possibly even hating Him. She said, that's the thing, He's always... Right There. I said, but no, like He was standing right there at which time my dad spoke up and said, He's always Standing Right There. I'm sitting here right now, writing this and tears are now pouring down my face and it feels like The Holy Spirit has put a little tornado in my chest. He is here. He's right HERE with me. Right here and right now. He is here. He Loves us and He wants us to know that The Father Loves us.

    What blew me away about the ending was the way Jesus respectfully said "It wasn't her time". I saw merciful healing for those who have dealt with the sudden loss of loved ones to accidents or murders, and then hear that those who have been healed or survive are called blessed. Of course those events are worth celebrating, but we prayed and believed for their protection. It can be confusing, painful, and isolating. Surprised about the Thomas/Ramah comments... for one it gives a bit of insight to 1st century "dating" that our youth could use lol but the writers were spot on creating this story line that ultimately will speak volumes about what it means to follow Jesus through very difficult times. Well done!!

    I applaud the Chosen's decision to highlight a spectacular athleticism of Salome's dance. Brienne from "Let's be honest" recognized the dancer as someone who is actually a famous dancer. This may be a historical source for the Chosen: The illuminations in "Holkham's Bible Picture Book": "She is depicted balancing on her hands, arching her back, and throwing her feet backwards into mid-air as if to perform a somersault. Such acrobatic entertainment would have been familiar to a medieval audience from the performances of jugglers, acrobats, and dancers at real-life festivities." Like I told a friend, I begged God to heal my son, but in His wisdom, sovereignty, and perfect love, He essentially said no. It is a life struggle that we wrestled with about why God Heals some and others He takes home. Yes, it is extra biblical. But it is relatable. I wish they would have tied it to the same vane as the blind man's healing. His ways are higher than ours! His thoughts are unfathomable. But...God is good, and everything He does is good.

So much attention being given to the Thomas-Ramah relationship, made me think it would be Ramah. But good heavens, I didn’t expect what happened! In S3, Simon and Eden had to deal with God saying “no” as well. Sometimes God says “no”. But when Jesus is talking to Peter around the fire they talk about Matthew’s bad actions and how God turned that into the course of events that allowed Simon to follow and then become Peter. I am mad at the show,, the ending for episode three needs to be rewritten,, this character could have been written off in a more beautiful way as only The Chosen knows how,, they are great at bringing beauty to this story of the life of Jesus like no other show or movie out there. To me all of the death and sadness in the Bible have a redemptive end,, the ending of this character and in the way it was done was Not like The Chosen,, it looked forced, for shock and not thought through,, we all know that Thomas has a doubting tendency,, probably that is what The Chosen it’s trying to drive into our minds,, but the Bible doesn’t need our help on any of that. In my opinion they could have wrote the character off in a more beautiful way. I also think The Chosen needed to spend a little more time at Caesarea Philippi and truly show to this generation how dark and horrible was the culture surrounding Jesus and his followers

    I thought the entire 3 episodes were mesmerizing. Jesus did not heal everybody. He did not keep his own earthly dad, Joseph from dying. He did not break John out of prison, He did only what His Father was doing, He did only what pleased His Father. There were lots of demon possessed, sick and dying people everywhere Jesus went. The healings recorded were to show that Jesus is the Messiah. “If everything he did was recorded the whole world could not contain the books.” In light of this, I believe the writers could imagine romances happening, the brutality of the Romans was far worse than depicted, the controversy and chaos surrounding Jesus was intense. Thanks for the reaction videos. Grace and Peace

    Boy, I hated the last scene and left the theater unsettled. But at this point I can appreciate some things about it. Jesus had talked earlier about how He came to bring not peace but a sword (which I'm glad was shown). I think there is metaphor to be found in Ramah's death by a sword (surely not a coincidence!). I also think that the scene reflects life, in that tragedies occur every day which God could prevent, halt, or restore, but He doesn't. (I know you guys know this better than anyone.) At some point in our lives we all have to face the question, "Why did it have to be this way?" and choose to follow Him anyway. I feel as though The Chosen is purposely confronting us with that question; it was even in the trailers. I really, really wish that they had written a different story but I have to admire how this awful scene reflects how we must choose to respond to tragedy when God doesn't do what we want. I am left wrestling with many thoughts!

    "Repent" would have been a strong line, for sure.

    Truly a powerful scene, between my two boys. Simon/Peter and Matthew. You could feel the release. I immediately thought, "it is finished!" Now the disciples can truly meld. Also, The Sons of Thunder had not idea of what they and Salome were asking. Still reeling front the last scene. Not sure why the women seem to be sacrificed when involved with the disciples... Enough said. Blessings 🙏♥️😇
