As someone who regularly sells on ebay, I totally agree that they treat sellers very poorly. Buyers get away with so much that wouldn't be tolerated in any other type of store and the punishment they receive if any is absolutely pathetic, even if they are repeat offenders. Ebay needs to remember who pays the fees and look after their sellers much better.

I have been an eBay power Seller for over 20 years...
Sorry to hear about your experience.
I have only run into a few of these people over the last 2 decades.
The only way to protect yourself from most of the Scammers
is to sell low priced merchandise. Once you get into higher priced
items you open yourself up to these individuals. Most of the scammers
won't waste their time on items costing $15 or $20.
If I do sell something in the $500 range, include in the listing you will not
sell to anyone with less than 25 feedback. If someone tries to buy it with
no feedback I immediately cancel the order and block them.

WE DO NOT GIVE PARTIAL REFUNDS so we record the testing (IF APPLICABLE), shipping and returns of all of our items to prevent fraud. If a buyer tries to steal this item we upload all 3 videos to CZcams and send the links to them in the claim and they have sided with us 100% of the time on our 3 eBay accounts. @samgorin9836 Před rokem +7

Glad to see you posted an update video, sorry that it still hasnt been resolved. I've been and still am a seller on eBay since 1998. That being said - I've gone through ALOT with them (thank god you never had to deal with the clown over in their VERO dept) and I'm down from 30k-40k a month to a few hundred at best - at some point - it just wasnt worth it. Mercari and Posh give a buyer 3 days to make a claim, eBay likes to be generous with a sellers funds for 30 days +. EVERYONE should know or needs to know 1) when you sell on ANY site - you need to view it as a DEFENSIVE game not OFFENSIVE. NO ONE cares about your money - NO ONE except you. Dont be a sheep, be a wolverine. Call them and bother them as many times as needed. Get case numbers (SR #s) and names in case you need that info later. 2) DONT EVER sell anything on eBay that you cant afford to loose (I learned this after "eating" a few high end Denon phono carts. 3) NONE of the people you mentioned - FTC, Police, USPS have the time, ability or care enough to help you - you are a simply 1 small number and there are a ZILLION people just like you EVERY DAY. 4) eBay and Adyen are together now - as apposed to be the old way where it was eBay and Paypal - where you had a shot at winning. Here - since eBay believes that sellers are noise and that buyers are their TRUE customers - ones they wont dare loose - eBay just goes through the motions to placate you. Get on their case, call them again and again with that SR# (SR numbers are their internal case numbers). 5) Do consider an attorney OR find out how to sue in small claims court (the buyer not eBay - that doesnt work btw) as its not to expensive and the buyer will be compelled to come to your town to respond. 6) dont bother with eBay front line overseas bozos - ALWAYS ask for a US based manger. I hope this works out for you ! One last thing - go to eBays Facebook page and make a racket. Use the "eBay for business" section and post a complaint there. eBay hates bad public pressure - people have reported that it gets them to actually do something (never did it - cant verify). Best of luck my friend!

Couple of things: I have been an ebay seller for 20 years. Now granted I have never sold anything as high priced as you have, but I have had a couple of similar situations. Once sold $150 old iphone that was a few years old. Seller returned claiming it never turned on. When I received the phone it was a different phone. This phone wasn't as banged up as the one I sold. I talked to ebay and they said I had to file a police report in order to win my case. I did just that. I took it to my local police department, showed them pics of the phone I sold and what was returned to me. Like you, the police said they probably weren't going to do anything. But I did win my case.
This just recently happened. I sold some items about $300 worth to someone in Australia. Three days after the sale, they opened an unauthorized sale with their cc and my funds got put on hold. Long story short, once the tracking showed delivery, my money was released. I don't understand why ebay is playing hard ass with you over this. You should, IMO be protected via seller protection. (Like I was with my Australia shipment).

They shouldn't allow "guest" to make purchases. They need to sign up for an account, add a cc, and be vetted in that the cc address and the shipping address matches. This would help, but not completely eliminate the problem. But as you said eBay needs to stand behind their sellers because that's who pays the fees. Hey there! Your past two videos came up on my recommended tabs and I figured I'd share my experience.
I own a retail gaming and collectibles store and often times we get people trading in high dollar ticket items. We had an incident semi recently where a customer purchased a $500 item from us and it was shipped via USPS with signature confirmation and insurance. The day after it was delivered, I received a message stating that the transaction was unauthorized and they already filed a chargeback and was demanding their money back. We promptly ignored it because if they were being truthful about the chargeback then I would've heard about it already.
About a month later, I got a notification from eBay stating there was a chargeback and the reason was an unauthorized transaction. I was talking to a representative on the phone after and they said I will be protected as a seller because I bought the label from eBay while also including signature confirmation, which was enough evidence to suggest the chargeback was untruthful since the buyer actually signed for it. The case closed where the bank sided with the buyer, but I never got the money deducted from my balance because of the two reasons listed. eBay basically ate the $500. I know you said you'll stop selling high dollar items on eBay but I wanted to share my experience with you and others as to how I handled this situation and what the outcome was.

It was a 3,500$ deal but for me it might as well be 30k ebay says It's looking good for me, but they seem to be on the side of the buyer more than me! I hear stories from other sellers who get returns with the item being switched and returned. I have heard that such a thing is mail fraud and to file with USPS but who knows what goes on there. I have wondered if sellers could protect themselves by making sure that serial #’s are in the photos and to go beyond that create a stamp with a UV dye and mark goods before shipping which can’t be seen with a naked eye. I certainly don’t blame you for being done with high end products with eBay and they certainly need to get this cleaned up for sellers. Intercepting mail is something I have done with a couple of orders with Amazon and it is a good option. Glad to hear that eBay let you kept the money and it is concerning that the credit card company did not want to pursue this.
