I'm impressed. They managed to write a song in a major key. I didn't think it was possible.
Rozen maiden is the first anime i ever watched back in 2014 and seriously all their opening and ending songs sound so good 💕 its also my favorite anime hehe 💕 love it so much 😭💕

I really like the sound of the song, I also like the opening songs to the earlier Rozen Maiden productions. However, the pictures and the lyrics often made me wonder if it's going to be a love story after all. And now that I've seen all the episodes I don't know what these lyrics have to do with the plot apart from the words like promise, roses, thorns and so on..
In japanese anime the opening lyrics aren't always match with thr anime, a lot of times they just use the anime opening as a way for make a song more popular or similar
Well in this case, maybe the anime production stuck with ALI Project's songs because their music and their respective MVs usually involve Gothic and Aristocratic elements (also the fact that their songs are mostly in Symphonic Gothic Rock with Gothic lyrics) and Rozen Maiden is abundantly profound within this category, so maybe that is why the openings are like that. It has nothing really to do with the lyrics but rather the elements associated.
I wasn't going to comment since this was 6 year ago but there's an answer for 10 months ago so...
There are other types of love apart from romantic love, the Dolls are pretty obsessed with meeting Rozen again and be loved by him and the warmth they felt around him, that's one kind of love, love for your dad/parents/creators/caretakers.
There's also this relationship between Shinku and Jun and between Souseiseki and Suiseiseki, it's like a brother/sister relationship were they care about each other a lot and will do anything for each other.
Also Shinku and Jun sometimes are close to what we know as romantic love but I think they understand perfectly how that's not gonna work xD
And also when Jun starts to build her own doll you can see how much he loves it and he loves her and there's other kind of love and passion too.
I always see this kind of openings in this anime like that kinds of love and not that romantic and passional love that we are used to
For those wondering about the meaning behind the whole "Alice" and "Papa" subjects (Which are the basis for the plot), look for Gosick, Nabokov's Lolita and the fixation of japanese people with "ningyo" or dolls. Jigoku Shoujo shows kinda the same thing with one episode where the antagonist is a woman, obsessed with ningyo, carries out a living hell to her daughter-in-law, because she wants her to be a living doll. There are lots of urban legends surrounding this particular subject with living dolls and the sexual behavior behind them. Right now there are this sexual dolls, so you can see where this whole thing is going.

@@stoutzoo Well, Maria Holic *is* pretty sexual in on itself, while Rozen Maiden is absolutely not. I mean, there was that weird moment with Kirakishou sticking out her tongue towards Jun to make him her 'master', but that was something out of the ordinary for that series.
