In this modern age, too many now feel it is their right to make complaints or allegations about others who are going about their lawfully permitted business. If, after investigation, their accusation is found to be false, then the complainant should be fined for wasting Govt. time - in the same way as in Police cases. And the accused - if found innocent - should then have the right take legal action in return. There needs to be a deterrent against these people.

Hi Noel. I had exactly the same thing happen. I took a neighbour over our village so he could spot his house. 10 minutes after landing I had an email from the owner of the club saying he’d had a resident ranting and raving in his ear. Apparently I’d been ‘zooming low over his house’, ‘recklessly endangering…….’. Etc etc. in this instance it was handy that the guy had been cc’d in on the request to explain myself. I simply sent back the SkyDemon debriefing pack for the flight which showed I had been no lower than 2,000ft. As it turns out I knew who the guy was. He couldn’t look me in the eye next time I saw him……. Tosser.

Exactly, the sound of a little prop plane at 150 feet would wake the whole village up as I mentioned, you've probably heard police helicopters flying low when chasing criminals or doing exercises, and yes their engines are usually gas turbine and noisier, but 150ft is a height that would disturb hundreds of households and now with social media and smartphones being endemic, it's strange that the person who complained didn't have backup witnesses or evidence of his own to back up his libellious accusations!!

I've spent nearly a year and a half in the UK working as a flight attendant before moving back home to Italy. With all its ups and downs, I've got to say that this complaint culture in the UK goes way too far way too often. I've been working at the same job in Italy for 5 years now, never got a single complaint or report in my pigeon hole at work, whilst in the UK I used to be targeted by ridiculous claims every month or so. Not surprising considering how on every block and bus I used to find a solicitors office ad haha. Not all people are like this of course over there, but far too many treat this thing as some sort of sport, ignoring the consequences it can have on people who most times do nothing wrong or do any wrongdoing purposely.

The "try not to piss people off" advice is a bit of a delicate one. There are all sorts of people who will get pissed off by the most normal thing, to try and keep everyone happy would mean to stay at home and do nothing. And sometimes that will piss your neighbour off as well!
The real lesson learnt here is to always cover your back by tracking your flight.

Firstly, great to have found this channel to top up my Inflight Video fix each Sunday! Interesting video, as someone who has worked in customer service I know only too well that no matter how much you try someone will always find something to complain about! Don’t take it personally! Look forward to more vids on the channel and please let us know if you plan to fly to NWI again as I’ll buy you a McDonalds in return for a selfie 👍👍😊

In my experience as a FISO and ATCO, the general public are awful at guessing how high a light aircraft is. I've taken a lot of noise complaints in the control tower where I work, and they normally amount to people who stray into their garden a couple of times a year, never realizing how often light aircraft fly overhead from the other side of their double glazing, wanting to have a moan.

Reminds me of a friends mother who used to sit in her garden in Hampton and take pictures of any plane on its way to Heathrow which she deemed was too noisy. She then wrote to the airline to complain and had a filing cabinet full of letters from the airlines. This was back in the 1970's so with the DC8's, 707's and Concorde being amongst the nosiest she was kept busy. :-)

Guilty until proved innocent is a dangerous trend. Be aware that by providing tracklogs and data to the CAA it is very possible they would look through the whole thing to try to find something else to get you for. With recent actions from the CAA especially regards to their airspace infringement I'd be extremely warey of providing anything more than the minimum required.

I can't count the number times over the past 13 years that someone has called my office to complain that "THE AIRPLANE WAS 100 FEET ABOVE MY HOUSE!" Sadly there is not much you can do about such people. No matter how much data you provide showing the plane wasn't that low they will reject it and keep on complaining.

Someone who doesn’t know anything about flying. Sometimes planes that are travelling at 1 thousand feet do look like 100or 200 feet so they either thought it was because they don’t know how much 1000ft is or they are just sad and have to annoy someone because they have their own plane and they don’t.
