Goombay Smash Cocktail Recipe: The Bahamas In A Glass
Vložit
- čas přidán 14. 05. 2024
- Emily Cooper created the Goombay Smash cocktail at the Blue Bee Bar in Plymouth, Green Turtle Cay, Bahamas. This popular cocktail contains three types of citrus and three spirits: aged rum, coconut rum, and apricot brandy. It's sweet but balanced, and you don't taste the rum. Try it out, and let me know what you think.

Quick Note. *** I made an error in the recipe that shows on screen. It should read 1.5 oz 45 ml Pineapple Juice.
The original way how we do it in The Bahamas 🇧🇸 🎉🎉
Awesome!!!

This drink is a "smash" hit David 💥
Thank you very much, I'm glad you liked it.
Delicius i have all at them 🤙🤙😎😎
Awesome,
Definitely trying it . Don’t have the apricot brandy though . Peach schnapps could probably be an option , different flavour but probably would mix well .
Thanks for another good video 🍹
Was thinking the same. I spend way too much buying random liqueurs for one cocktail 😊
That is the Peach schnapps will work very well for this.
Nice video David! I sometimes have a half of a Goombay Smash in the summer - not a big fan of rum or OJ in cocktails. Sorry! I admit I do love a good Mai Tai in Maui! For the summer I love a gin cocktail in the that is classy, tasty, very cold and crisp!! Yes to a fab Martini! Hendrick's just released a new cocktail book - terrific recipes. I bought a copy yesterday! Hey keep an eye out for the new 4th edition of the Lagavulin Offerman 11 yo (so delicious!!) scotch - newly released! I bought a case this morning as they will get very difficult to find quickly! The 3rd Edition is my fave but this one aged in rum casking is fantastic! Lagavulin is fabulous!! I think you would like this one as you live rum! Lagavulin smoke and rum are a fab combination!! Cheers!
That does sound good Chsristine, I guess I will have to try it out.
@@boozeontherocks It's a treat! I am sipping on a dram now! 🙂
@@christinecamley Awesome

Had lots of Goombay Smashes on a Royal Caribbean cruise last year. They didn’t use fresh lime or OJ, however…and I don’t recall them adding any bitters when I watched them make me the cocktail… Nevertheless, the drink was delicious!
I have seen a few different recipes for sure.
I think I'll try this in my spherification experiment this week, make a Goombay Gummy 😅
That sounds really tasty.
Can you tell us what brand you use for each ingredient please? It would be easier for viewers to try replicate it.
I can work on doing that for sure.
I love your videos and particularly admire your bar set and your attention to detail. I have learned a lot from your presentations and enjoy each and every one. However, I feel as though you punish yourself far too much every time there is some spillage, or a slight mistake is made. For me, the important thing is to generate a natural flow to the video by keeping things moving and ignoring the mistake. Therefore, when you drop something, spill something, or flub your words, it is important to just laugh and move on without hesitation. We all make mistakes, so don't draw attention to the blunder, and continue to focus on making the cocktail. Great job, and keep the videos coming.
Thank you very much John. I will do that.
Very interesting! I got introduced to the Goombay Smash in Nassau. When I got home to the States I looked for the recipe online. There are a lot of them! The one I eventually settled on, which tasted best to me, goes like this:
1.5 Oz. Pusser's Rum
.75 Oz. Cruzan Coconut Rum
.25 Oz. Cointreau
3 Oz. Pineapple Juice
.25 Oz. Lime Juice
.25 Oz. Simple Syrup
Angostura Bitters to Taste
The use of the strong Pusser's rum in this drink makes more sense to me than the Appleton Estates. I find the Appleton rums to all be very, very sweet. I like them, and have toured the estates on Jamaica. I think their products are extremely sweet.
So, here's yet another Goombay Smash recipe for the record. And I will surely try it! :-) I wish there was some way to tell, for sure, which one is the original...
Your recipe looks really good. I will definitely try it.
Ah yes, “Paul’s Friend’s recipe.” I agree, that one is good. Probably my favorite. But I have yet to find one that really tastes like Ms Emily’s. I feel like the citrus flavors in her original version are more intense. I’m not sure how to achieve that.
1.5oz equals 45, not 15ml. This clearly is just a typo, I know.
That is a good catch, I pinned the correct amount in the comments
