I have been playing padel for over 3 decades, and this is one of the clearest explanations of the game I ever watched on youtube. Well done.
It’s 3 decades old?
@@fedyosh4221 padel was invented in the late 60`s, in 1969 precisely in Acapulco by Enrique Corcuera. I start playing it in 1989 in Argentina.
Could you tell me why the rackets are so outrageously expensive compared to squash and tennis rackets? I want to start playing but my jaw dropped when I saw prices.
@@TheLunarnotes I guess since padel is growing all over the world so amazingly fast, padel brands are in their moment, so they have no reason not to rise their prices. Back in the 90´s padel gear was relatively inexpensive compare to tennis for example. That being said there are second brands, that have reasonable prices and they offer good quality: Royal padel, Sidespin, Kombat, Kelme, Kappa, Dufour, Sane, Sola. etc. All of this brands have nice products for amateur and even competitive players. But if you look for top brands like Bullpadel, Nox, Adidas, Head, Wilson, and specially their top of the line models, prices are up to 5 times other raquets (palas o paletas are how they call it in spanish) And believe me in this you can it even tell the difference between a 120 bucks racket from a 300 one until you reach quite a high level. Go for a medium model in a second brand and you will enjoy a lot. Spend your money on padel lessons, and you will be fine. Then may be, you need something that match your needs. But you can not know what you need unless you play well and play a lot. Greetings from Argentina, I hope you find this useful.
@@georginiuss Thanks for your response! I'm booking my first lesson soon, in Stratford, East London, UK's biggest club apparently.
I am here to watch this video because Padel recently born here in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. This sport is very interesting!
Wow this the clearest explanation of Padel I’ve watched
same for me (also the only video about padel I ever watched but it was very clear xD)
Scoring system is the same used while playing tennis (game-set-match), but in recent years the deuce has been changed to the Gold Point. This new norm is used when the game is 40-40, it's called the Gold Point bc the team that wins the next point wins the game, the team that recieves the serve choses the player that is going to recieve it skipping what would be the natural serving order.

My head is reeling trying to understand the tennis/padel scoring system. Who on earth counts 15-30-40 instead of 1-2-3?
There is a theory that tennis scoring was originally counted using the hands of a clock, hence, 15mins, 30mins, 45mins (which was shortened to 40). Hope that helps
Great video love it
Great video. I love padel. I am originally from Argentina.
this game is a mix of tennis and squash
or Racquetball.
The chess of padel sports.
When I think of panel, I always think about how diverse it is.
I’d love to try this game! Looks like the best of squash and tennis combined.
I been watching bits on BT sport lately, I'm good at tennis and squash so would like to try this but not sure best places to play.
Yo that chick buffed!
Could I play with a lower disc injury?
Padel looks like retirement sport for ex-tennis players
I think it might be vice versa. Tennis can be a lot slower than this for elderly. My grandpa plays tennis but doesn’t like the pace of padel
Clearly, you have never played padel nor watched professional players. Padel is much more about tactics and playing at the right speed. Many tennis players that start with padel make A LOT of mistakes by hitting way too hard or with too much slice on the forehand, meaning their balls: 1. Go straight to the wall and lose the point easily 2. Go too hard and give an easy rebound for the opponents to counterattack. I don't think it's easy for tennis players to get used to this.
People who liked this, including you, must have never played padel. It requires crazy reflexes, flexibility, endurance, etc. so no, not at all for retired people.
Can i play this as singles instead of doubles?
What if the first serve of the ball hits directly the wire wall or the glass without touching the opponent’s court then what should we do?
Re-serve or count a point to opponent?
the server has two opportunities to complete the serve
I think 2nd serve only counts if you hit the net or miss the service lines
Interesting sport ,never seen it in Africa.
Can I hit it into the corner so that it hits the back and side wall and then over?
Couldn't make it to the end due to the ridiculously overbearing music. What's wrong with just hearing a person speak these days?
Bro idk what u mean cuz I can hear clearly?
Could have been worse. But thanks to subtitles, you should be fine without sound
so basically tennis but with a fence and silly paddles lol i like it ngl i wanna play this game
seems very cool. was just looking at pickleball too
Is the padel raquet heavy?
what's the verdict on a situation where the ball comes back to your side without the opponents having touched it?
Point for you.
After bounce on my side, am I allowed to return the ball via the wired fence, or only via glass wall?
glass only
@@Chavi27 : Is that correct? As per 01:47 both are possible (glass and wire)
@@browserforu8306 he asked for the situation at 1:30 ... you cannot do this with the fence.... sure, when you receive the ball it can bounce the fence after floor bounce
What happens if you hit the ground and then the wire fence when in play? (not when serving)
It's allowed
can i hit the ball directly to the back wall without bouncing the ball into the ground first? " in play"
No this is out and you lose the point must bounce off the ground first
I haven’t played, but looked this up because I’m considering it. I am a solid tennis player… But my friends tend to kind of suck. So instead of good rallies, it winds up being me mostly just fetching the ball the smacked somewhere stupid. So padel might solve that problem since it’s walled in. Now they can suck all they want!
Came to see what this is all about because a video was claiming it was going to take over Pickleball but now I see that it requires a whole room…. no way. Especially when it’s not the same size as a racquetball court.
Looks like a lot of aspects are similar to tennis. With the serve area and the points system. But i'll stick to tennis 😋
very cool
Thanks
One on one would be interesting.
It's like easy tennis homie
Does it have to be played doubles or can it be played in singles?
As far as I know, it has to be doubles.
it can be played in singles
There are two different court sizes. One for doubles and another for singles. The most common one is for doubles.
It can be played in singles, but the court is smaller. I've only ever seen such a court in Spain
My partner and I play Singles at the moment. We only use half of the court and try not to hit the ball to other other side.
We're beginners, so we're playing singles until we feel confident enough to play with other people and get used to the scoring system.
Looks like a fun game to play! only the scoring system is a bit complicated
the scoring system is exactly the same as tennis
@@stephen729 which is already too complicated :)
@@lawfulhamster8724 whats complicated about it? :D anybody who even slightly play any sports knows how to count tennis points...
I think tennis and padel tennis should have same scoring system as badminton. 21 individual points to win a set and best of 3 sets. Find tennis annoying where you could win a set in 4 points. Doesn't give yourself enough time to get back into the game.
@@mikecondon93 u need 4 to win a game but 6 games to win a set in tennis. So 24 points
Why can people smash it over when it hasn't bounced over? Nobody explains this in any video
Because it is consider a volley, but it must come with the right height, so you can smash it, it bounces on the opponent court, and can go outside, or even return to your court.
1:09 what do you mean loses a point? Like im 30 i become 15?
I believe it's because the other team wins the point if you do that. Hence, you lost it.
~@2:00: ... like in tennis... If the score is tied 40:40, ... two consecutive points in a row...
Wrong?
I mean, in tennis it's "everytime it's a tie, one must win to consecutive points in a row".
And "safemoon to the moon" even declares there is a "Gold Point".
Correct, they explained it wrong.
1:23 lol is that puppey?
Is this padel Fam in US or UK?
How many minutes are 3 sets ?
there is no time limit!
But it usually stands around 90 mins
Its basically tennis then with bounce and a wall
So, they reinvented Royal Tennis a game that's been around since the 13th century.

Haaaa. So it’s a mix of tennis and squash. So many people talking about it. I just had to find out how it works.
Why don’t you just say the scoring is like tennis…?
Because not everyone play tennis.
Goog
Is this more fun than pickleball?
It's more dynamic but demands more practice
And there is created another industry
Tried this the other day. Had rented a field for 45 minutes. It is really fun they said, you should come. Ok. So I need to serve the ball in the square? Yes. Ok. Tried for 45 minutes, no succes. Went home, not my sport 😂
Turn your body sideways when serving
What actually constitutes taking a point? Watched the video but still unclear.
Hitting the net (like in tenis) or hitting the glass behind without the ball touching the ground first
Padel is tenis for defficient people
I played paddle 70 years ago and still haven't received a cup of coffee
This game was invented in 1969
Squash players would Excel in this game big time
When we lose a point but we have 40points does it go to 39 or 30?😅
There isn't point losing
Your opponent gains a point so in essence you're losing a point to your opponent but it doesn't get deducted from your score.
لعععبة الباادل موو صعبة يعني ولا بقول سهللة لااا

Excerise for people who find tennis too hard
....RIP pickleball
Can it only be played as doubles? I can't see why you couldn't play as singles 🤔
Nah u can! Padel fields near me (and i have played on them myself) have single player fields aswell
@@Toonio-mk5ou I read in another comment that singles fields are smaller? Without ever having seen a Padle field in real life, they already look kinda small? Why would you make it even smaller just to play 1v1?!
The answer is simple: DON'T!
long story short, a sport to pick up when you have failed in tennis.🤣
It’s seam tennis😂😂
can i hit the fucking gitter or what?
Dont understand what the point of the game is, its basically tennis with glass walls, and a more longer version, plus the balls fly so quick its hard to spot where its at
Thick thighs saves life
how can I concentrate learning padel when those legs are around
Don’t ask me the Color of anything
Now I need to know where to play padel with the girl in the video...
i didn't understand a word.
No, il dio anubbi no, NO IL DIOGHANE
she cute
Looks like maybe it's fun... but I would rather play tennis.
squash nutella
Bloody hell but this girl is built. Hot, hot, hot.
i was told that padel was simple, it's not
tennis table points woud match better
a bit too fast video for my taste. Other than that it was helpful
lol
Dont
Rather weird sport 😂
Not getting good at racquet sport after playing for sometime?
This might be the good alternative 😂
Looks a bit boring.
Trust me its not
@@Buggolious I trust myself and my judgement more. Boring! Just like football.
@@tazuosukuro7855 well you do you i guess
@@tazuosukuro7855 if your judgement says football is boring then you are boring, and you are wrong
@@Zneakys Not American football/arm pit football, I meant that soccer you know, the European or global football, actual game that plays ball with feet. American football is very exciting :) Every sport watched live is always more exciting than watched on TV. TV makes every sport a little more boring. Padel could be better live but not on TV. Same with soccer/real football.
This look so boring 😅 I'll stick to tennis and table tennis 🏓
She looks like a good warmup partner. Or any other kind of partner.
Either way, a warm-up is always welcome :-)

Npc comment
Bruh
Do people realize how pathetic they are with those kinds of comments? Man, this western society....
but why Nudity?!!!!!!!!!
"diverse"
lol
Fucking game
Looks like a lame version of tennis.
it's a far more physical version of tennis. While raw strenght isn't that much necesary as it is in tennis, you jump way more often, you run foward and back more often (even outside of court), and most points are decided on volley, wich means is more intensive on the quick reaction and reflexes. Since the game gives a lot more oportunities to recover, points also tend to be longer, and there are more chances to get back from a mistake in the middle of a point. Just watch any doubles match of tennis the Davis Cup, and compare it to the Padel World Tour, you will see what i mean.
Trash game wasit of money and time
Mad cuz bad
Looks like shit game..
As a tennis player this is hilarious 🤣🤣 bunch of tennis wannabes
dude calm down you’re a nobody people just want to have fun
More fun than tennis
Boring boring
Any askers?
How to play paddle - don’t!
For God sake!!!! Can anyone please explain how to score in this game nothing and no one explain it very well everybody says it just like scoring in tennis No it’s not!!!
They say if you hit the opponent ground twice you score!! And if the ball hit the opponent grid the opponent score!! That doesn’t make sense what if the opponent just play lazy and my ball always hits his grid!! I just want to understand this game and not look like a fool when I play!? 🥲
It is the same as tennis. I think you may be overthinking it. If the ball bounces twice, you lose the point. If the ball hits the net, you lose the point. If the ball hits the opponent's wall before hitting the opponent court (similar to hitting it out in tennis), you lose the point. If you double fault on a serve, you lose the point.
The part you're confused about is hitting the grid. If the ball hits the grid after a serve, the server wins the point, not the opponent. It's the same as an ace in tennis.
Watch the video
You can score in this game by:
You return the ball to the opponent's side and bounces twice.
You return the ball and bounces once in the opponent's side, the ball goes outside the 'cage' and bounces outside.
You return the ball and hits any part of the opponent's body.
Your opponent fails to return the ball by hitting the net.
Your opponent returns the ball but hits the glass/grid before hitting the court.
Your opponent hits the ball outside the 'cage' without touching your side of the court first.
Your opponent commits a double fault.
Your opponent touches the net while the ball is still in play.
Things to take into consideration:
The ball has to bounce once in your opponent's side to be considered in play, if it goes staight to the glass, grid or even out of the 'cage' the ball is considered out.
After the first bounce in your opponent's side, the ball can touch both glass and grid. (serve exception)
When you serve, the ball has to hit the court (serve square) first and then it can hit the glass, but never the grid as it would be considered fault.
You are able to play a ball that goes outside the 'cage', check the World Padel Tour (WPT) yt channel to see a great demonstration.
You can use your own glass to return the ball to the other side but never the grid, you can check this as well on the WPT channel as it hosts the bests talents of the sport.
Hope this helps!
@@safemoonlover619excellent explanation, thank you!
