Welcome to my youtube cooking channel Namita's Rural Cooking. My name is Namita Debbarma, I am from Northeast India's small state Tripura. You can find various types of food recipes and traditional food recipes in my channel.
First of all I wish all my viewers Advance Happy Makar Sankranti. In this video I make another pitha recipe makar sankranti special, today I make Tripuri Traditional Pitha Awan Bangwi with sticky rice and Lairu leaves. Awan Bangwi is made of sticky rice, it is made only in Tripura. It is made by mixing sticky rice, cashews, green peas, carrots, raisins sauteed in ghee, and this mixture is put in cones made by banana leaves, or by lairu leaves and is steamed. More than a dish itself, Bangwi in Tripura describes a style of Lairu Leaf wrapped sticky rice dishes. Sticky rice grains like guria or mami and is steamed in a Lairu Leaf cone. It is also a special type of cake made by Tripuri Tribe Community People. The leaves used for preparing this cake is named Lairu leaves. I used carrots, coconut, green peas and green peas in this recipe. You can also add other ingredients according to your taste and you can use banana leaf, which according to the recipe can be used. Its our traditional food, this recipe is specially served in some traditional festivals here, its steamed sticky rice cake made in special type of Lairu leaves ( lairu leaves in our kokborok language ) Filipino language I don't know what you people call it.
