- Reactions continue a day after Ghana's parliament passed a harsh anti-gay bill. Concerns are growing about the possible impact on the LGBT community. But first: a leading Chadian opposition leader is among dozens of people killed in Wednesday's gunfights in N'djamena. Yaya Dillo was set to be the main rival to his cousin, President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, at the next election. Plus we head to Ethiopia, where over 30,000 Sudanese have taken refuge after fleeing the fighting back home.

See, polygamy ACTUALLY does harm on the continent. My grandmother was in a traditional polygamist marriage. My mom was not allowed to go to school. This is the reality when you say polygamist marriage, a patriarchal system suppressing women.
There’s a reason why countries with higher rates of polygamy also correspond with lower female outcomes and overall lower standards of living.

I'm 100% in favor or LGBQT+ rights. However, I live in a first-world country whose culture struggled for centuries with acceptance, and still does. To expect developing nations to move in lockstep with supposed first world "enlightenment" is asking them to be orders of magnitude better than we ourselves ever were in the past. This issue is one for each community to work out on its own.
