I've often run into people who think the comics of the New Yorker are funny (without being able to explain why), look down their nose at some comedians because they view the humor as too juvenile. They just didn't dare call the character Adam Sandler. I could be wrong, but I think the impression, the singing, and the reduction of the character to a 6yr old was all an intended as an unflattering satire of Adam Sandler.
