- 👋 After owning the new manual transmission 2023 Toyota Supra for several months, how does it compare to my R35 Nissan GTR? I have owned the R35 GTR for over 5 years and it truly is a special car! My GTR is FOR SALE tho! I also owned the 2020 Supra alongside this very GTR for 2 years back when they came out. Honest thought about fun factor with the manual Supra vs GTR. They are very close! I love rowing through the gears in the Supra! It is a fantastic transmission and these cars make plenty of power to be so well balanced! The handling of the Supra is just amazing! It's such a drivers car and craves to be driven and pushed! I really love driving the manual Supra and it offers something more special than when I had the automatic Supra. R35 Nissan GTR is a true super car with blistering speed and a super raw mechanical feeling. While it's heavier and isn't quite as good in handling. You can go so much faster doing everything and fly through the roads! It is so stable at high speeds and want to be driving very fast! They both are cars that I crave driving and really miss driving if it's been a while. New for new I don't think I could justify spending twice as much for a GTR compared to a brand new manual Supra. On the flip side, a $60k GTR will be very old with high mileage and I couldn't justify that either because of the trade off with having an 'old car' compared to a brand new Supra. I think the GTR sweet spot is $75k-$100k given the year and mileage. My GTR is for sale at $80k, 2014 model year and has 49k miles. Great shape and I have no reliability concerns. So for a $20k increase over what I paid for my new manual Supra, I think both offer the same bang for the buck. The automatic Supra isn't as fun as a GTR in my opinion, but it makes for a good daily driver that still has a fantastic fun factor. But when you put the MK5 Supra head to head with the R35 GTR, having the manual in the Supra makes it right on par for the price difference and I really can't pick which car I'd rather drive on a given day! Both are a blast! If you're looking for a super fun car, put a manual Supra or a gently used R35 GTR on your list! In this video, we're comparing the two cars - the Manual Toyota Supra and the R35 Nissan GTR. We'll see if the manual Toyota Supra is more fun to drive than the R35 Nissan GTR. So which car is the more fun ride? We'll find out in this video! We'll take the cars out for a drive and see which one feels more responsive and gives you a more exciting driving experience. Yeah new Z is definitely a step down from a Supra. It's a good budget alternative. But the Supra and GTR are very close in many ways! I love the manual in the Supra and that for me is what puts it right next to my GTR! Both are great cars!
Nice video! Here in the UK I have a 2014 GTR and a 2011 370Z and I like the way they complement each other (one being 4WD, Twin Turbo, Automatic DCT and the other RWD, N/A, Manual Shift)

The itching to drive it is so true with the Supra manual or any car that it fun. I find excuses to run errands and go to thr grocery store just to hop on my Supra 6MT.

This exactly what I did. Wanted to buy a manual Supra when it first came out. All the dealers wanted 5k to 15k mark up, plus I would have to wait. Decided I can just buy a use GTR without waiting. No ragrets.

Thanks! Honestly I don't mind driving it stock. It's still way fast! Just too quiet for my taste. I'm itching to do a midpipe and intakes just for fun lol! But car is going to the dealer now so I'm not driving it anymore

Interesting perspective. Hard to imagine we are in a world where a R35 GTR is considered old school. You should definitely drive 80's and 90's Jap stuff, that is what I would consider old school.
Haha yeah it’s a pretty old feeling car. It was designed not long after the 90s ended and hasn’t really changed much.
My GTR feels very mechanical when compared to my RS5, which felt so refined and way too comfortable! The GTR really comes to life when RPM is above the 3500-4000 range! Daily driving it feels like making a 100M sprinter speed walk…
I'm sorry i have to go with the GTR. New or old it stands on its own, and pretty much destroys anything on the street. Including Hellcats.

$30k into the Supra and you'd literally fly. High flow downpipe, bigger turbo ans a tune and you're pushing 700+ hp

Then you drive an ND Miata and realize it’s half price of the Supra. Just as (if not more) fun for street use 😉. You should also experience a GT350 for the driving experience. The R35 and mk5 Supra are both great cars! Thanks for making the video.
We drove a new Miata at the tail of the dragon alongside the 86, Supra and Z. Miata was a blast for sure in the twisties! Not quite my taste, but it's a blast to drive!
Hey so i was actually looking to pick up an 09-11 CBA GTR as a daily driver for around $60k. I’m coming from a 400whp STI and the MK5 supra with the ZF felt kind of underwhelming while the GTR felt really good but idk how it’ll feel driving everyday reliability wise. What do you think of purchasing an 09-11 GTR as a daily? Or should i save the extra money for a 12-16?
Overall they are pretty reliable. I’ve seen that if you get a TCM tune that helps a ton with the transmissions. That’s the weak point of the 1st gen. 2014 and up is when the GTR trans is solid. But if you get an older one. Just make sure it’s been maintained well and just don’t go E85 or anything after that in mods. Stick with FBO pump gas and don’t launch it and you should be good overall. Provided the car is in good condition to start

“Fun” is subjective. People said playing for the Patriots wasn’t fun, others that won superbowls there said winning 6 championships is a ton of fun! Since the GTR rarely loses, I’d call that FUN!
Yeah this video is purely my opinion of the fun factor of each car. Winning is fun, but driving a manual is fun too. For me these cars are equals in the fun department. Both offer something I love behind the wheel

Cool cars for sure! Love the R34 and MK4. But I'd probably never buy one at this point. Maybe one day tho if I could justify $150k on a 30 year old car lol

As a 2010 GT-R owner, I love it and it gets attention everywhere I go... I really like the look of the Supra, it looks really good, but the fake body vents and BMW engine make me say no. Plus I smoke every Supra I see....
Yeah the fake vents are overkill. However the BMW motor is why it's so good! The Supra is more of a drivers car then the M2 to be honest. Made a whole comparison with them. Supra is such a drivers car its crazy!
GTR looks fun, but is very heavy. The Toyota is heavy for its size too. If anything a Cayman 981 S would be a good buy if wanting something modern but has the total package. GTR is sort of old news at this point. I've probably seen a million reviews on them at this point. Compact cars like Supra, 370Z and Caymans for me will always be superior to outright power with a high seat position and lots of computers. Drivers car over outright power. Id take the auto Supra to make up the performance shortfall and extra performance. Manuals are great if you live in the sticks. Each to their own though.
Honestly GTR weighs as much as a Mustang or Camaro V8. Just has the AWD and better transmission to put power down, and is much faster. So it doesnt feel heavy. M4 weighs more. Supra feels light on it's toes and for the power seems good. Cayman GTS from what I've seen has the same performance as a Supra but it costs almost $100k. So the Caymen seems like you can only get a base for Supra money. I couldnt justify that one to be honest. Auto Supra is a great option if you daily drive it for sure!
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Depends on which Cayman. GTS 718 is about 55-60k used here with the 4.0 abit more at 70k. A 981GTS thats 40-50k here in UK with a few miles. The S is around 30-40k. The new M4 X drive can be had for 70-90k. Those are UK prices. It wont feel heavy thanks to the assistance from computers.
I dont think weight makes a good sports car. I think engineering and understanding its limitations does. The GTR, though hated by many, is still one of the best bargains you can get (not brand new). The supra is definitely a gorgeous powerhouse and now with a manual is very hard to beat. But unlike the 90s the GTR is NOT a skyline anymore, they can’t be compared. You buy them for totally different reasons. Awd vs rwd. Grand tourer racecar vs 2 seater roadster. Manual vs dual clutch. The Z is still the better comparison.
Well you can compare them since they can both be bought at the same price. And since I own both I'm answering the question of which car is more fun to drive. I did compare the Supra to the Z and the Supra is significantly better at everything. I love how you get a different driving experience in the GTR, but the manual Supra is a car I have just as much fun in as the GTR. So as far as fun factor the GTR and manual Supra are very neck and neck as far as enjoyment level. Z is way behind both cars in fun factor.

Looking from an outside perspective on it, for brand new cars, i prefer the compare the z and supra for price brand new and similar chassis designs. Hope that makes sense 🙏🏽
Yeah I hear you. Supra certainly has a lot to offer and I think it performs better then it's price range. Much better then a Z for similar money, and even from Porsche, you need the GTS Caymen to match a Supra. So it has a ton to offer for sure!

Not even close. Evo is a fun car but feels pretty junky and even modified they really arent that fast. Still just feels like a 4cyl Lancer to me lol Supra is a big step up from the old Evos

To be honest I don't think the R35 and the Supra are in the same class. The GTR is like a Super car or super car killer, meant to compete with Porches, Corvettes, Ferraris, etc. Where in my opinion the Supra is refined a fun spirited Sport Car.
Oh they are in different classes for sure. But you can buy a used GTR for the same price as a new Supra. So while they are in different classes, they are cars people cross shop. And having as much ownership experience in both cars and owning them together, I can say I have the same amount of fun in the manual Supra and the GTR. This video is about fun factor. Heck even a Lamborghini Huracan I wouldn't say is any more fun than either of these two cars. But it's cool to see how these stack up since a lot of people cross shop a used GTR for Supra price point. Also Supra is a much more fun car then the same price Porsche or Corvette to be honest. So the Supra stands very tall for it's money. A base C8 or Caymen I wouldnt want own. They don't have the same good feature or performance as the Supra. GT4 Caymen and Z06 Vette are the ones that compete with a GTR.

Supra already has a turbo lol. But in this video I have an intake on it. So you can hear it a ton more then stock
