    I served alongside these men. I can tell you, that apart from every one of them being a skilled musician in his own right, they rehearse as a band until everything is perfect. They leave nothing to chance. Awesome!
    These men are the drummer/buglers of The Corps of Drums of Her Majesty's Band of the Royal Marines! Listen in awe and have the hairs on the back of your neck bristle!

      So static, like toy soldiers with their stick you can just about see their wrists moving in quick succession like a gentle breeze, you can’t see if feel it but it’s there (like radiation)

    "Soldier an' Sailor Too"
    As I was spittin' into the Ditch aboard o' the Crocodile,
    I seed a man on a man-o'-war got up in the Reg'lars' style.
    'E was scrapin' the paint from off of 'er plates, an' I sez to 'im, "'Oo are you?"
    Sez 'e, "I'm a Jolly -- 'Er Majesty's Jolly -- soldier an' sailor too!"
    Now 'is work begins by Gawd knows when, and 'is work is never through;
    'E isn't one o' the reg'lar Line, nor 'e isn't one of the crew.
    'E's a kind of a giddy harumfrodite -- soldier an' sailor too!
    Kipling

    This is the sort of tonal balance I'd expect of the side drums in a pipe and drum corps, with a single cranked snare drum for the principal side and standard snare drums for the balance of the section. Premier® has the 0189-RQL 28"x14" bass, 1072-RQL 16"x12" tenor, and 0097-S 14"x12" snare available; adapting the HTS 800 14"x12" free-float (for the principal side) to the 0913 snare/tenor sling (don't know if the 1903 lug-mount hook will do at the batter counterhoop) and 1902 leg rest might be a trick, however.

    • @Jackwylde68
      @Jackwylde68 Před 8 lety

      The Royal Marines actually play Pearl Viscount snares and bass, but the high tension is an HTS 800.

    • @cogidubnus1953
      @cogidubnus1953 Před 9 lety

      Yes it certainly is history...the drummers are formally referred to as "buglers"...IIRC it's a throwback to the Royal Marine Light Infantry in the 19th Century and the difference in the bandsmens uniform also originates with this...

  • @irvsstella
    @irvsstella Před 3 lety

    A little known fact, the drum skins have a fine coating of either cocaine or ketamin and every time the Drummer sniffs the sticks, he gets a shot. The best drummers can hit over 210 bpm!!!
