    I'm so glad to have found you~ I just recently purchased my first tablet and a beginner while I have been in the graphic design industry for more than 5 years and I regret not learning pentab because I was scared by the technicality of it. Your art style is just what I have always dreamt of achieving since my highschool years and I get to see your course here on YT. I'm so inspired~

    Woah thank you so much for the explanations on top of the speed art. I've been stuck forever by not knowing where to add highlights/shadows and this helped me a lot. Took me a good 4 hours to re-create what you've done but damn I've learned a lot! It's so weird that randomly drawing strokes can create realistic rocks from far.

    Hi, I have a question. How do you achieve the slightly grainy texture of the overall piece? Do you use some kind of filter at the end?

    • @TheGeekArtist
      @TheGeekArtist  Před 2 lety +8

      I apply some noise in the end. You can do that from the option menu in Photoshop. You can also apply the noise to a grey colored layer and set it to overlay blending mode to get the grainy effect.

    great tutorials! but I have a question, I've seen you are able to make adjustments to just one clipping mask, for ex: levels or hue without affecting what is below, how do you do that?? hope you can help me, I'm desperate

    • @TheGeekArtist
      @TheGeekArtist  Před 2 lety

      Thank you.
      Well when you apply a certain adjustment layer as a clipping mask on a certain layer then that adjustment will only affect that particular layer it's clipped on to. It will not affect any of the other layers below it.

    • @juansebastianpacheco8014
      @juansebastianpacheco8014 Před 2 lety

      @@TheGeekArtist yeah, the thing is, I made a clipping mask to make the brightest part of the stone, just like in the video, then I wanted to change the color balance of that clipped layer in which the bright strokes where made, but when I apply an adjustment layer, it changes the balance of the clipped layer AND the layers below it, in this case the whole stone, I'm using photoshop 2021 btw

    • @TheGeekArtist
      @TheGeekArtist  Před 2 lety +1

      @@juansebastianpacheco8014 okay I get what you mean. In that case you'll have to directly apply the adjustment to that layer instead of using an adjustment layer. You can do it from the image>adjustment menu or use the keyboard shortcuts for whichever adjustment you're using. I recommend that you duplicate the highlight layer and keep a back up just in case. Because unlike adjustment layers, this is a destructive change and can't be reverted. This is the easy method. The tougher method is to edit a mask with a clipping mask. That is, once you take the adjustment layer within the clipping mask, you have to edit that mask (white box) by painting black on thr area that's outside of the hilight. So what you can do is ctrl+select the highlight layer to get an accurate selection of the area. Then invert the selection using ctrl+shift+I and finally go the the adjustment layer's mask-white box and fill it with a black color. Now the adjustment will be visible only in the highlight area and not anywhere else.

    Hi, I have a problem but dont know how to fix. When I’m using brush and hold Alt to eyesdrop the color, it doesnt change the color in foreground, it changes in background and I have to use key X to switch the position. Can someone show me how to fix it, please? 🥺

    • @TheGeekArtist
      @TheGeekArtist  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi,
      That's happening because up on the color palette area on the top right, you have probably selected the background colour instead of the foreground color. So every time you pick a new color it reflects in the background and not foreground. So you have to go there and click on the foreground color square 🔲 go activate it and switch it back from background.
      Hope this helps. Cheers!
