Hey Kyle Thanks for a lengthy but terrific review of your trip equipment worts & all. The map review was instructive & confirmed nothing replaces being there. Joe's illness could have been too many bugs or sun stroke;but I'm only guessing. I do know I hate Black Flies & as a result avoid areas like that in May & June. Still you guys made it home safe. thanks Brian 76
Anything you and Joe do is enjoyable watching. Good job.
what a great video! thanks for breaking everything down for us - and can't wait to see more about the camp tarp set up!
Great info! Especially the route with heads up on the "tough" portages. Keep them coming, thank you.
Thanks Kyle, these gear, info and map video's are excellent.. really appreciate you taking the time putting them together... really helps with trip planning when your not that experienced at it.. please keep them coming :-)
Glad to see you putting up more videos bud, looking forward to this one as that trip was gnarly.
excellent video! the gear rundown was great! knowing what to possibly take and what to leave at home was very cool! showing the map in better detail was also great. very well done!
Really liked your video of the trip. Also liked this one on your gear. Thanks for taking the time to break it all down and explaining your likes and dislikes. Thanks again and well done.
you are the man
Always interesting to hear these sort of after the trip reflections, and the detailed look at the route on the map is much appreciated. That Arcteryx gear looks like nice stuff.
Great video, it looked like you both enjoyed the Temagami trip and I appreciate you taking the time to share the gear and route you took.
Great review Kyle. Keep them coming!!!
Thanks for posting the map portion. Going to do a trip up in that general area this fall and it was very useful looking at your information. 😊👍
Great video breakdown!!!! Very organized!!!
Very informative video! Awesome.
Great video
Great video, very informative. Thank you!
You really have some smart ideas. Really love the belt with Velcro patch.
really like the route breakdown with the map.
There used to be a nice bridge at the "golden staircase" that made the portage MUCH easier. But a few years ago, instead of repairing it, the MNR removed it altogether because it was "unsafe".
You guys did one of the harder routes in the area, awesome video. The temagami obabika loop is awesome too but not as long and alot more people. I'm from the area and It's definitely one of the best parks to canoe in the province
going canoeing this sat over at shawnee pa, only 10-15 miles down a river. Just a day trip, relax a bit, getting away from the city, nothing as special as your 9 day trip. Bringing a cheap dive knife in case something happens
Maybe you could try wearing yoga pants/tights under some cargo shorts? Buy some Permethrin and spray your clothes down before the trip. I do it every year before our week-long canoe trip and it works great. "If the portage is named, its not fun" - accurate. Great description of the route and portages. The tips would be very useful for someone planning the same or similar route. Nice video overall
Thanks for another great video! :)
I agree bug shirts suck, I personally wear a large boonie cap with a cheap bug net. The hat keeps the net off my face and protecting my face is all it takes to make life a bit less miserable and more tolerable. The hat is also great on the canoe since you are soaking in boatloads of sun all day.
Check out pants called Ocoa, made by a company called Frilufts. I used these pants almost exclusively few months ago when I was hiking in the northern lapland. It poured rain and snow one day and these pants got soaking wet, but because they are super fast to dry up I didnt even bring any rain pants with me.
very informative....thanks for sharing
those pliers.. easy way to rig up. go buy some Velcro and attach them to the inside of your boat about where you would be sitting. I put a piece on the steel belt clip that's on the sheath and the other part to the boat makes for a pretty fool proof plan. I don't even take it off for transport and it holds up pretty well and the tether attached to the pliers keeps them close so you don't have to worry if you dump it or get excited and drop it.
Nice video.
One thing that would make them even more interresting to watch is if you would aim the camera, so that we can se the table with all the gear on. That way you can study pieces you already talked about if something really catches your eye.
Not that just seeing you in picture is a bad thing, but yeah atleast imo that is a far more enjoyable way of seeing gear videos.

Great Video! You guys did a great job, thanks for sharing the trip! This review is a nice idea. Normally see vids about the prep packing but I think I like this just as much if not even better. Great learning experience. Which camera did most of the video footage during the trip? Thanks.
Where can I go over the same map that you are showing? Planning my trip
can you make a video on how you make your silny bags?
Sorry a little late with the question what headlamp were you using on this trip?
Kyle, just tuck your pants into your hiking socks. No bugs and very little water in the boat. Give it a try
Welcome back to the 85-90f Cbus weather.
Dude, is that a diamond plate electrical cover? Anyway, Great video as always. I'm very jealous of this trip and you shared some great insight.
Yeah its a diamond plate electrical cover. It looks right in the garage. I'm glad you like the video.
Kyle, great vid. Awesome trip. Lots of great stuff. But can I help you with that audio? You are between two flat walls (by the sound of it) causing that unwanted reverberation. If you were to put something like a bookshelf behind your camera, with a bunch of books or whatever to break up the sound, it would do a lot to get rid of that slap back sound you have here. It can be tricky to find or create a decent-sounding place to record audio in a house/apartment. A good way to test how your voice will be affected by the room, and where you are in it, is to clap your hands and try to find a place where there is no 'flutter'.
It was record in a garage with cement floors and high ceilings so not the best space for sure. I'm organizing and cleaning up a small room in the house to store gear and will do future videos there as the audio should be way better.
No worries. Looking forward to the new digs! The more gear you have, the better the room will sound. So feel free to use that as an excuse next time you drive past an REI.
on your vid i was asking why you didn't use the Latchford ( montreal river ) access....now i get it...you were not in that area....
maybe try and look at some convertible pants. pants that zip off at the knee to make them shorts. just a suggestion
Hey Kyle what size are the Kifaru pullouts that you have? Thanks
Medium
Thanks for the video. I take it you guys don't carry bear spray with you, unless I missed something??
Your correct. I do not carry bear spray in Ontario. Joe and I make so much noise the closest bear is 5 miles away. Especially with all the cussing on the portages. I do carry bear spray out West.

Take your pants to a tailor and bring the bottoms in. Most of what you experienced can be fixed with a sewing machine and you won't have to buy anything new.
