If anyone is more interested in Djamel (the Frenchman who left to join Osama's ranks and was found frozen to death in a cave), here is some context behind him. He was trying to escape Afghanistan into Pakistan with a large group of his fellow Taliban due to uprising pressure from the Northern Alliance(US-backed locals that fought against the Taliban) as well as constant airstrikes and bombardments from US fighter jets right after 9/11. While on the long path to Pakistan, by horseback or on foot, groups of Taliban would use caves to take cover from bombings. This path was not easily navigated and required people to stay behind in one of the caves and wait for others to guide them in the correct direction. Djamel was one of the two volunteers that decided to stay. From what I've gathered, he ended up stuck in this cave due to weather conditions or airstrikes and either starved, froze, or was burned to death(one French military fandom website says burned for some reason... I think someone made that shit up lol I didn't hear mention of it anywhere else). His family life and childhood are investigated in a well put together documentary from 2009 narrated by a French woman (if you want to watch, use auto-translate to English, its not great but I used it and still understood the jist of it). The title of the documentary on CZcams is: Bureau 2 Tabac : DJAMEL LOISEAU, ITINÉRAIRE D'UN SOLDAT D'ALLAH (Documentaire).
He took part in the Battle of Tora Bora, fought in the Tora Bora cave complex. The border with Pakistan is only around 7 miles away. Why he ended up the way he did is bizarre.
