  • Here's a small segment from Merv's interview with comedian/civil rights leader, Dick Gregory one month after he was shot in the Watts riots in L.A. Sadly, his poignant message still resonates today as much as it did 50 years ago.
Merv Griffin had over 5000 guests appear on his show from 1963-1986. Footage from the Merv Griffin Show is available for licensing to all forms of media through Reelin' In The Years Productions. www.reelinintheyears.com.

lakeabaya sadly mr Gregory was part of the establishment. He spoke the truth and fought against them. He wanted out. If you pay attention he gets his information from being in that organization. He's like an insider who spoke the truth. Sadly the price of truth and freedom can be your life.

I don't know that I watched this specific show, but I was watching Merv in 1965, on a 17" B&W TV, and Dick Gregory was a major voice in those days. And 50 years later? Though we like to pretend that things have improved, have they? As of this past weekend, I think not, and in fact it may even be getting worse...

He led an evil life. He is not resting in peace!

@HNK222 I didn't bring ten kids into the world and then not raise them. Why do you say "falsely"?

    • @getsomeherb3726

@HNK222 Again, why so you say "falsely"? Dick Gregory was an evil man. He was an absent father to 10 kids (since you need explanation).

@HNK222 It seems that you have no actual response, so you try to pathologize me, someone you know nothing about. Weak. I dislike him because he led an evil life. He race-hustled for money and fame. He made tons of money exploiting race narratives and playing the victim. He failed to raise his 10 kids. He exemplified all the worst things, he was even a compulsive shoplifter. Should I continue? You don't really know much about him, I suspect. Please do some real research, and then come back.
