- Cameron Herrin has been sentenced to prison for his role in the street-racing crash that killed a mother and baby along Tampa’s Bayshore Boulevard in 2018.
Herrin agreed to plead guilty to vehicular homicide charges. As the driver who struck the pedestrians, he faced up to 30 years in prison.
In April of 2021, Hillsborough Circuit Judge Christopher Nash decided to sentence him to 24 years. The judge said Herrin’s track record of excessive speeding contributed to the decision. Herrin’s attorney says he plans to appeal.

I think it’s more about how accidents happen. I drive a car. If I go driving tomorrow, it is possible I’ll end up getting someone killed. As long as humans are driving, that chance is unavoidable. Should people really get jail time for accidents? What purpose does that serve? Accidents happen, and people shouldn’t be punished for them. Punishments should be reserved for those who purposefully go out of their way to harm someone.

I came here to watch this video after the incident in Pune. A drunken boy of the same age killed two people with his luxurious car, got bail within 15 hours, and was punished with writing a 300-word essay. Additionally, for awareness, he was required to work with the traffic police for 15 days. Similar incidents, but different judgments.🤐😶

At least in Pune case public is in full support of victim's family and becoz of that we got to see some change but in cameron's case it was opposite public was in support of him so basically justice is not easy for poor people I've realised that and it doesn't really matter wherever u live

I honestly think he does feel guilty and sad towards the lives he took. He's had 3 years to think about the fact he killed two people. He is also in front of lots of people including cameras. It is reasonable that he doesn't show much emotion. His lawyer probably coached him on exactly what to do as well. Anyone would breakdown if they were sentenced to 24 years in prison especially at his age. By the way I am Not a fan of his and feel that the sentence he got was reasonable.

He was not driving his car quickly, on the contrary, the charge was framed to close the case after they tried two years from the date of the accident to prove his involvement, and when they were unable, they made a deal with his friend in order to implicate him
The biggest mistake of the mother, who crossed the street from a close distance from the cars, and Cameron had to change his lane when his friend changed his lane towards him when he saw the mother in order not to collide with him, so he found the mother in his face and could not avoid her and hit her

A rule of thumb is to bring 2 bars of soad when u shower..... soap gets slippery! If you pick your soap off that floor you will be known as a NASTY MF. I just considered it gone forever. Cracked a few jokes myself and used my back up bar of soap. The "drop the soap" thing is 100% myth. Only ppl gettin graped in prison were sex offenders, people who hurt women, and snitches. But 24 years is too long to give a teenager driving recklessly in his first car. 10 years would’ve made more sense. i am 21 and i own a 2017 zl1. You can’t make a general statement like that implying all teenagers or young people are idiots like him. I’ve never drive my camaro over the speed limits, at least not intentional. And when i do, i don’t go over 15 mph over the speed limit. Don’t blame the cars or young people, he was just an irresponsible idiot behind the wheel. Not everybody is like him.

Seeing his eyes get really big at 2:29 was so satisfying. I think it’s finally settling in for him how big of a mistake he actually made. Though, after 24 years he will still have his life and despite the challenges he may face, he will have a chance to be successful. The same can’t be said for the 2 people he killed. He's going to get out in less than 10 years I would say, he can appeal and the sentenced would likely get shorted for being his first criminal charge, then after his chase gets shortened to more like 15 years he gets out at maximum around 5 years then probation for 10-15 years. Happens every case

1 - The speed of the mustang was 102 mph before he started braking according to electronic evidence from the car by police.
2 - Cameron was not on a HIGHWAY. He was on a street where the speed limit is 40 mph.
3 - NO MATTER HOW BAD YOU FEEL, CAMERON CHOSE TO RACE THAT DAY regardless of warnings and without any common sense that racing on the street can hurt anyone.

As a member of the car community- Cameron honestly deserved more time. It’s people like him that give the community a bad name- I’ve lost countless friends to street racing wrecks and bike and car accidents (most that didn’t involve street racing), once a life is gone- it’s never coming back. I empathize with the husband and feel his pain- not to the same extent of losing your partner and child, but in the sense of loss. Anyone defending Cameron, shame on you. I believe it speaks volumes coming from someone who can relate to the street racing and car enthusiast aspect that Cameron I can assure can relate to, saying he’s getting what he deserves. Anyone who managed to get this far in my comment who just got their license or is in the car community; there are event coordinators and clubs/car brands that host events in controlled areas to race!
