  • The international VulcanaSymposium on Canary Islands submarine volcanology organised by @IEO_Canarias and @GeoTenerife takes place annually in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This symposium brings together leading institutions, emergency managers, and guest speakers to share their research on submarine volcanology and adjacent fields. Speakers in this session include:
    - Sam Mitchell "Incomplete records, data opportunities, and equitable research in marine volcanism"
    - Ajay Wynne Jones "VolcanoStories, the power of science communication to engage, educate, and inform"
    - Jesús Alcázar Treviño "Acoustic detections of the lava seawater explosive interaction from the Cumbre Vieja eruption (La Palma, Spain)"
    - Jesús M. Arrieta "Impacts of the volcanic eruption in La Palma (Canary Islands) on the nearby marine bacterioplankton communities"
The presentations are followed by a q+a sessions with questions from the floor and our international virtual delegates.
The symposium will always be an open-access event and is streamed online for free to increase the audience of the science. This has allowed delegates from a range of international institutions and organisations to share their research with marine science students and academics.
