  • Dick Clark Interviews The Blasters on American Bandstand. Dave Alvin shows his guitar, and explains why "Johnny Cash" is written on its arm. Alvin then introduces the members of the band: John Bazz, Bill Bateman, Phil Alvin, and Gene Taylor. After that, he talks about the influence of Chicano music on their work, and about their recent experience with Eric Clapton. He and his brother, Phil, also talk about the experience of opening for Queen. Finally, Dave Alvin says he writes the songs for the group.

      @@lastnamefirst4035 is was at the Orange County Fairgrounds with Los Lobos and -X-. Then saw them play 3months later with -X- at the Greek Theatre. Phil has been ill as of late or I would've seen them play this last Saturday. Praying he gets better👍🙏

    Saw the Blasters in 81 in Frisco. They definitely rocked the club. Fucked us up! A great band live…best you can see.

    Every video Phil has a serious and different guitar.
    That Blonde Super 400 ces he has here was worth 4k new.
    I couldn't guess what it's with, now.
    He was playing a Gibson 335 dot neck IN BLACK in another video.
    Fucking crazy.
    I wonder if he still has all of them?

    Dick Clark never had a clue about the music/bands he interviewed...other than Buddy Holly, maybe.
