In some ways, at 61, I am jealous of the plethora of info people, especially those starting out, have on playing the six string.
On the other hand, all we had were our ears. Nothing gave me more satisfaction than going to see a “big name band” and seeing I had worked it out correctly on my own.
Yes, we emulated the harp, although not always effectively, and the saxophone, among others.
Great video! This channel deserves far more subscribers. Thank you.

Yes I know what you mean. I learned to play by watching Lindsay Buckingham (Fleetwood Mac) on a video tape! But to be fair i also had a great guitar teacher in my teens. Glad you are enjoying the videos Jim.

It’s a whole different world isn’t it! But you are right the ears are the best teacher.

Hi Darren, great lesson, thanks for the focus on embellishing the basic blues progression into a rich musical landscape. I especially like the section walking-up a scale with chords. I'm studying chord scales and how to use them. I'm hoping it will open insight into finding novel progressions that work in a key. I think basic blues is the building block to so much really good music!

Thank you, You can do a lot of cool stuff with harmonized scales, and then when you mix in the in-between chords like the diminished 7th's, things get really interesting!
      Appreciate you watching!
