Gate Syllabus is compact and limited but question asked will electrocute your concept. It required special approach to prepare for exam Need to solve lots of PYQ.
Syllabus is easy compared to ese and state AE and JE. In civil engineering only 5 subjects cover 50% or more marks out of 100... But level of questions asked is top notch!!

I have topped GATE 2021 & 2022 with 99 percentile. GATE Farzi Exam hai, Jab tak aap Mtech nhi karna chahte tab koi Kaam ki nhi hai. Isse naukri ya Job nhi milti. Aajkal PSU me vacancy nhi aati aur jo aati hai unme bhi alag se Exam hoti hai. Gate farzi hai. IIT-JEE ki tarah overhype kar rakha hai.
GATE is not that much rewarding as compare to other exams, u have to put a lot of effort and still u can be jobless as there are very few seats in PSUs (Around only 300-400 Jobs per year through GATE). The main reason is very less jobs in core sector in India, even getting good rank through GATE Cant ensure a secure future. So, Better target other non-tech exams, u can crack them easily.
