- A video that doesn’t involve the Flood? Hidden, are you ok man? Yes, I’m fine :) I just felt like taking a little break from the Flood and covering something else, that something else being the 7 ages of the Covenant that they progressed through to become the behemoths they once were. It’s interesting stuff, as it shows the Covenant higher ups were lying the entire time!
The next video will likely be ANOTHER comparison between Halo and Infinite Warfare, given that the new trailer for it contains a few things that look like they were ripped DIRECTLY from the Halo engine. It’s gonna be a good one, the amount of similarities are, yet again, ridiculous and frankly hilarious xD

Halo has such a cool story for a first person shooter.
You know, what might be fun is a "what if" scenario. As in, what would've happened if the Covenant actually did not make the mistake of reclamation/reclaimer. Would humanity be integrated in to the covenant as the vanguards of the Great Journey perhaps?
You can anwer that question yourself - do you think it's likely that the human race would willingly join the covenant despite our rebellious nature? We would either be enslaved or slaughtered without hesitation.
I've tough about that . Maybe the humans would have become the new leaders of the covenant and fired the halo array along with the rest of the covenant :O
You are forgetting the fact that the entire covenant religion would fall to pieces because the sangheli and other races would realise that Forerunners aren't gods and the prophets are liars.

These 7 ages were established before The Banished were revealed. But probably.
The Banished were formed during the 9th Age of Reclamation aka during the Human-Covenant War

They cant just change the name of the ages. Once they are named they stay named. If they could change them they would've called 9th age of reclamation the 9th age of THE FUCKING COVENANT IS ENDING. or something along the lines of that.

343i really need to stop focusing so much on Humans. We need far more books, series and games that touches on all the other Alien races. I'm sick of 15 years of mainly Humans.
Well, there is a series of forerunner books. And basically every single book does have at least a few chapters from the point of view of some of the covenant races, giving insite into their culture.
ReachStudioPro Broken circle and Shadow of intent are both entirely about other species.
ReachStudioPro, as long as 117 is alive, the Halo games will continue to focus on humanity. I would love a survival horror game focused on the Flood.
Or playing as various Arbiters throughout the various interspecies wars.

I've wondered if the covenant had wiped out other species before such as maybe a species that dismissed the covenant faith entirely or a species that refused to join the covenant?

Whoa Dubby because hummans were mistraducted as "reclaim" but it was in fact "reclaimers" so the covenant atacked because of that, and when they realised their mistake, they lied and continued their assault because the whole covenant faith was built around forruners being gods, and that was telling otherwise.

The Yonhet are a species that has ties with the Covenant, but is not a formal member of it.
After the Covenant fell, the Yonhet began their trades mostly with humans and Sanghellii

Technically, the Covenant didn’t really end after “Truth” died. “Jul Mdama” continued it.
The Covenant ended when Truth died. Jul Mdama was just one of many warlords who foolishly claimed that they lead the new Covenant, even though they only lead a small remnant of it.

Halo has sooooooo much expanded lore outside of the Halo games, and even at that, most halo games (cough halo 5 cough) have extremely good stories within them.
343 has missed out on their opportunity on trying to be different, on trying to be what every other shooter is, by trying to appeal to the COD and BF community, and even with the story, they just tried to hard.
They need to stick to the roots that halo gave birth to, and maintain that solid foundation it so wonderfully had in halos 2 - Reach.
I'm disgusted by what halo has become, and the fact that soooo much lore, has either been dismissed, or is currently irrelevant.

Amir Hasty ironically, you do realize the bulk of halos lore is actually through 343 not bungie... in fact reach actual broke lore and needed many retcons, as did some plot holes in 3. The covenant back history, the forerunner lore and on and on... while I agree the campaigns are more simplistic than they need to be (halo 5) people complained a great deal about the necessity of needing lore for halo 4 (which had the most external lore within it). So they struck a balance, they hid plenty of story lore within the campaign in collectibles if you haven't gotten all of it and seen comparisons and good breakdowns you would be surprised at how deep and intriguing halo 5s campaign is, it still has flaws but isn't not bad by any means... halo 4 was an excellent campaign so 343 is fully capable (halo wars 2 seems to be shaping up well story wise and the lead writer will be working on halo 6).

Its a clever turn on the writers part. I mean despite aliens being conquerers in a lot of stuff, that they are just as petty as we are with religious conflicts and whatnot. when i guess the general theory is that they would be peaceful through advancement.

As cool as it is that the Covenant have their own unconventional calendar system based on "the times" rather than time itself, it really makes no sense to use this kind of a system alone. To any self-respecting Covenant historian or businessman or archaeologist or whatever, a system like this is useless. Consistent units of time are much better than ages when there's no way to know if an age lasted 10 years or 1000 based on its name alone. And while the Covenant do have something called a "solar cycle" to basically represent a year, they barely use that unit as far as we know.
It reminds me of the Japanese Kanji system where some Kanji can have 12 different ways to enunciate the same symbol based on the word it's in which makes no sense, but they don't change the system because it's easier to deal with the current system than go through a transition and change it into something better. The Covenant are probably in a similar predicament with their age thing.
I can only imagine that logically at some point in the Covenant's history the citizens who cared about keeping tabs on time like merchants came up with some specific variation of the solar cycles system that spread all over, but for the sake of tradition and consistency they kept the age system in certain things like official imperial documents, history museums and so on.
The Covenant probably uses a numbered calender system, but just like humans, they are more likely to refer to various time periods according to the events taking place. Like I could mention the Industrial Revolution or the Space Race, and you probably have a general idea of when I'm talking about.
It's probably easier to teach and learn their history without having to remember the dates and years. Mention the dates and people having no real sense of time, just get lost. Kids for example. Also lose all interest when you mention how long ago it was. "The 2nd age of reclamation was 5,300 years ago and blah blah blah". First thought for most is," Who cares. That was waay back when. Things were different back then." Completely dismissing the lessons of the past. Easier to teach only the MAJORLY important times of their history. Gets rid of alot of the clutter in history noone really cares about. Teaching only the Problem and the Solution. As well as the lesson. Keeps things simple, clean and Direct. You don't lose your student's attention with clutter. Being only mayor events with stories of battle and what not. I like it. Very efficient. Probably keeping the dates and information of the rest of their not so important history for those who wish to research whatever else that interests them.
