  • Watch til the very end for the "Out Takes"! :)
    First of a few camps that I plan on doing using very basic kit. In this video I camped in a British Army Goretex bivi bag in an ancient woodland.
    Wild camping is not encouraged here so we elected to arrive at camp quite late (about an hour before sunset and leave quite early the next morning.
    I had to cycle the 20 miles each way Bike packing all my kit.
    The Bivi bag was more comfortable than I imagined but I did end up sharing it with quite a few slugs!

      @@WiltshireMan Funnily enough I bought a British Army bivy bag for 20 quid from Brookwood market back in 2000 whilst residing there. Was very excited and keen to test its waterproofing immediately. Once home I climbed inside it in the bath and turned the shower on. My wife of that time came in and said what on earth are you doing. To which I replied field testing the camping kit. She shook her head and left the bathroom looking very bemused.

I understand that most won't watch mine as I make them for me and my audience is motorcycles, pipe smoking, guns and kayaking. LOL, the slugs did your washing up for you. I had a mod on my bpm bivi, had a center zip put in it for easier access. like most people I started out with the cheap army bivi then by inches got lighter and lighter ones, but, nothing seems to beat the army bivi for keeping condensation to a minimum.
    so now settled on using that all the time.

They appear after dark (eleven ~ twelve PM or more if they detect human activity) in my property, even in my kitchen. Being gortex it breaths so you don,t get so much condensation which will keep your sleeping bag from getting too damp. I have a cheap Rab bivi which is very poor on this point!

I had a stroke in my left eye and after all the injections and implant in it then a cataract opp I want to protect what I have.

    Any chance of a 10 month update on the Brompton? I’d love to know what changes you have made especially after the Oxford trip showed up the saddle. Also what bags you find most useful. I’ve very recently purchased a 2016 Brompton M6H; after watching you catch the bus to Morecombe and do your shopping down the road from your home, it seemed obvious I should do the same. Thanks for the inspiration. Your Fellow CZcamsrs Stu and Julian helped get me over the line too, I must admit.

    • @WiltshireMan
      @WiltshireMan  Před 10 měsíci

      The Brompton is the ultimate Utility bike I reckon, good for a bit of road touring and the weekly shop etc but the only downside is not very good for off road adventuring.
      I'll do an update on the bike at some point. My mate Dave has modded his bike more than mine so maybe I'll show that too

    • @SimonBrowneNZ
      @SimonBrowneNZ Před 10 měsíci

      @@WiltshireMan That would be awesome Sandy. And yes, including Dave’s mods would be very interesting. He always seems very confident in his decisions. And comparing your 2 bikes very helpful. Just a thought; back in the old days of bike gangs, not that you and Dave constituted a gang, there were Mods and Rockers. Do you think Mods refers to boys who highly modified their motor scooters? I’m thinking Quadraphenia by The Who? Just a thought.
