      @@mjm3091 no. If you watched OG DB & DBZ you'd know Goku isn't that dumb. He knew what was going on. He only didn't know what marriage is when he got out of mount Paozu for the first time as a kid. and started to meet people other than his grandpa for the first time. That's when he thought it was food. But when he met ChiChi again as a teenager he already knew what marriage was and realized he had to fulfil his promise. And in Z we see him act as a normal father in all the slice of life scenes. He did kiss ChiChi too in Z. The scene from Super was a joke about Vageta not getting that Goku wasn't talking about kissing but feeding someone mouth to mouth. That's why he said "what does that have to do with anything?" when Vageta pointed out that he had 2 kids. It was just badly executed in Super. It's common for fans that watched OG/Z & Super to complain about his "downgrade" in Super for a reason. He was a normal husband in Z. The family wasn't Chichi's "work".

    Dragon Ball’s conflicts vary from season to season/arc. They aren’t always hunting for the Dragon Balls. The Dragon Balls are these orbs when brought together summon a wish dragon. Man, it's incomprehensible to think that there are people out there who have no clue about Dragon Ball, even through cultural osmosis. This was a very, VERY fascinating reaction. BTW, those are just different versions of the various openings, the guy who uploaded it just played each version at the same time for... I guess time reasons, so their video wouldn't be too long I guess. Back in the 80s and 90s, long running anime didn't really change their opening themes too often, so they'd usually just switch out the visuals slightly to reflect the current arc. Nothing interdimensional really happens until Dragon Ball Super and Heroes.
    BTW, Dragon Ball Heroes on it's own has dozens of openings as well (well the arcade version does at least).

    Boys first opening is actually a chapter in which Goku is small so that the shot next to him that is attached is also from the same (first part) of the series but in the last three seasons the opening is different because Goku has grown up in the story. By the way, Dragon Ball ranks as the second most important manga series with over 320 million copies of manga sold, making this anime the SECOND most important manga series of all time.
    PLOT:
    The Story It talks about seven dragon balls, each of which has a certain number of stars, when all seven are gathered in one place, the Divine Dragon (Shenron) is summoned, that huge green Dragon that can fulfill any wish and even bring dead back to life. After a wish is granted, the orbs scatter around the world and turn into ordinary stones for the next three years, after which you can collect them again. The story is interwoven with comedy, but in Dragon Ball Z it takes on a more serious tone, otherwise it is a story about martial arts. The main character is called Son Goku

    If you really want to see the OLDEST anime, then, outside of the World War 2 propaganda stuff, you should check 8 Man, Tetsujin 28-go (also known as Gigantor), and Astro Boy (also known as Mighty Atom), all of which came out in 1963, as Japan's entertainment industry recovered from the aftermath of the war
    All of these series by the way also got modern remakes.
    And speaking of WW2 stuff, Norakuro is worth checking.
    Despite starting of as wartime propaganda in the 1930s, the character was popular enough to be brought back after the way, and got new anime adaptations in the 1970s and 1980s

  • @Dr.Mlieko
    @Dr.Mlieko Před 11 měsíci +5

    Also, Dragon Ball is definitely NOT the oldest anime.
    Dragon Ball is from the 1980s
    If we don't count theatrical shorts from before WW2, then the earliest anime (that aired on TV) was from the 1960s
    Technically the first TV anime was "Instant History" from 1961, which was an educational show
    But if you wan the first anime to feature a legitimate story-line, then go for Astro Boy (also known as Mighty Atom) from 1963
    Astro Boy also had remakes in 1980 and 2003, and several spin-offs

    I do love how confused you both are though. But basically don’t think too hard about the differences in each opening when it has a split screen. That’s just the same opening but updated with new things from later in the series than the version before it.
    Also DBZ and DBZ Kai are the same series but Kai cuts the filler from DBZ out. It came out in the 2000s.
    DBGT came out after DBZ ended but in the late 2000s they came out with two new DBZ movies and made DB Super which made GT non-canon.
    I’m honestly surprised you both haven’t heard of some of the things from Dragon Ball since the series is so popular and mainstream in both Japan and the West 😆

    Tbh - it would be much easier to theorise if you watched the changes progressively, but also knew the progression of the show.
    Like small changes to the openings would be more easy to spot I guess. And you would notice that his son is actually his son (as we the mother and we see him age through openings).
    And the progression of the show - would make it more linear.
    We had few series. DB and DBZ cover the original manga of Dragon Ball pretty well. It's a story about a boy (Goku - monkey boy), who goes on an adventure with a girl (Bulma daughter of big technological inventor and future inventor herself) to find Dragon Balls. During their adventures they fight multiple villains who want DB for themselves. Like Emperor Pilaf or Criminal Organisation - Red Ribbon. They find more friends over time, but also fight some other villains as well.
    At some point Goku becomes a student under certain old man - and starts participating in a fighting tournaments. That's pretty much like second big part for the original series.
    =====
    Then Dragon Ball Z story happens - Goku is already married and has a kid. But then came aliens and ever since show moved into fighting anime vs big bad groups trying to save people.
    There are Sayians (including Vegeta), the Mewtwo alien, then Red Ribbon came back with robo-people, with their ultimate weapon being a giant Cockroach dude - which you saw in bottom versions of the DBZ/Kai openings
    Then Goku dies and his son Gohan takes over (the whole superhero arc he has and reason why Goku has angel halo). Before they can bring Goku back - the pink villain happens. Which is the end for original Dragon Ball.
    =====
    Then as Toriyama (author) ended the manga and didn't want to really continue - anime showrunners decided to add additional saga and new "more fulfilling" ending to the series. It had utilised some ideas from the author - but it is non-canon.
    That's how GT became a thing. The original character - Goku (he already was back to life) got de-aged by a malicious wish using evil Dragon Balls (they were created as a counter to all the wishes our crew have made over the years). It was done by a mistake by the very first villain we had in old Dragon Ball actually.
    As evil Dragon Balls scattered around the universe. De-aged Goku, his granddaughter Pan and Bulma's son Trunks - go on adventure to collect evil balls and later defeat the villains created by the existence of the balls.
    This was original ending to anime.
    =====
    Theeeeen... After all those years Hollywood made super bad live action Dragon Ball movie and Toriyama decided to help make new movie and later revive the manga.
    Multiple movies came out that were successful.
    During all of it Dragon Ball Kai was released. It was basically just Dragon Ball Z, but reanimated without fillers. I think it may have even came out for Anniversary or something.
    =====
    After that was also successful - Toriyama properly started working on new series. Dragon Ball Super anime and manga came out simultaneously.
    Toriyama wrote detailed plot drafts and designed villains. From that anime crew made new anime and a new mangaka made new Dragon Ball manga.
    This is a story directly after DBZ/DBKai ended. Two movies got first adapted as the early arcs of the anime. Involving totally new characters, but also old villain (Mewtwo alien - Frieza) got also brought back. After few sagas with fighting new villains and so - we learn about different universes.
    Long story short - Tournament of Power is decided to happen, when people from different universes fight each other.
    You can see the team of our Universe 7 in last opening. The pink blob was supposed to fight, but he couldn't in the end - so we had to bring the evil original villain Mewtwo alien - Frieza.
    And that's basically where anime has ended with Tournament finishing.
    After that manga continued with few more villains. Then two movies came out that also got adapted into the manga. And we probably will be back to some bigger tournament at some point. Who knows - anime probably will come back to cover the manga - now that they aren't released simultaneously, it will actually be easier to produce it I would think.
    Also there are multiple other games and web-series anime (Dragon Ball Heroes). All having separate stories.
    It goes DB -> DBZ -> DBGT for original run and now it's: DB -> DBKai -> DBS, when it comes to linear canon storyline.

    A kid named Goku sets off on a Journey to find the 7 Legendary DragonBalls.
    DragonBall Z: Set Roughly 5 Years after OG DragonBall.
    Now an Adult Goku is faced with even greater challenges revolving around the DragonBalls.
    DragonBall GT: Set Roughly 5 Years DBZ.
    Goku now a seasoned Warrior at his peak sets off on a Journey into Space to collect a mysterious new form of the DragonBalls after being reverted to a Child.
    DragonBall Kai: A retelling of DragonBall Z with far less filler, a more accurate Dub(with arguably better performances), and touched up animation.
    Not much else to say about this except that it yet on a Hiatus, but eventually returned as DragonBall Kai: The Final Chapters, and you'll hear people call it DragonBall Z Kai, but that's just the name it was given in the West.
    DragonBall Super: Throw everything about you know about DragonBall GT out the window.
    DBS is the new canon sequel to DBZ(GT was made by the anime staff with minimal input from the author Akira Toriyama)that takes place 4-5 Years after the final battle of DBZ(it technically takes place before DBZ ends, but we still haven't reached that point to see how much they'll change the original ending).
    DBS is still technically ongoing, but the anime has been off air since 2018.
    In place of the anime we've gotten 2 movies.
    The Manga for DBS is still ongoing(it's 2 full Arcs ahead of the anime), but parts of it's story, and certain events play out differently from the anime.
    The anime will inevitably return, so there's honestly no better time to catch up on all of DragonBall before it come back.
    If you were to watch the Series I'd recommend watching it like this...
    DragonBall, DragonBall Kai, then DragonBall Super and its 2 movies that take place after the anime.
    If you were to finish all of it before the anime returns you could check out GT just for the hell of it, but know that nothing in it is relevant to the series as it currently stands.

    Also Dragon Ball is considered the father of the some of the most popular anime that came after it. Like Naruto is based on Goku, the main character of Dragon Ball. Heck if you look at Naruto’s hair and Goku’s transformation you can see that Naruto’s hair was based on it.
    Also no Dragon Ball is not the oldest anime. It’s probably the oldest you two have reacted to but there’s plenty of older anime out there

    The Dragon Balls are seven mystical balls, each numbered with a star from 1-7, and gathering all seven allows you to summon Shenlong the Eternal Dragon which can grant the summoner any wish they have.
    And the different openings just show different arcs of the story, so the character changes, grows older, meets new friends and get's stronger. No alternate timelines.

  • @senpaitsuy
    @senpaitsuy Před 11 měsíci +1

    If you are still confused...
    1st Point
    -Each opening you see there are from different arcs. It means as the show progress, some parts of the opening are changing to adapt on the current story time. It also mean that the characters grow older and also gave kids. The one you told earlier that is he (Goku the mc) a clone is actually his son...
    2nd Point
    -If you don't know much of the lore or didn't watch the series will really confused you. I hope both of you will watch and react to dragonball episodes.
    3rd Point
    -Dragonball Z Kai is just a remaster version of Dragonball Z so it has practically the same story.
    4th Point
    -Dragonball GT is a different timeline that takes place after Dragonball Z while Dragonball Super is a different timeline that takes place before the last episode of Dragonball Z.
    5th Point
    -If you see why the main character suddenly got blonde is because of a power transformation. Not gonna spoil much.
    6th Point (SPOILER)
    -The Dragonballs that the main character are finding is to summon a dragon to make a wish.

  • @roflnagi15
    @roflnagi15 Před 11 měsíci +1

    okay guys, you read WAY too much into this
    so to clear things up without spoiling anything
    the first OP had two different videos because the right one was from a later arc but with the same song
    the same with the first DBZ OP but the bottom right was from a special the made long after the show ended and had all the characters grown up
    so about dragon ball kai
    kai is a sort of remaster of the original DBZ but cutting out a bunch of filler, wich helped some arcs immensely
    also yeah all different arcs
    so dragon ball super
    super is the most recent show and unlike GT, that was made by the studio without the actual artists of dragon ball, it's the canon timeline after DBZ
    i also can not wait for the day you actualy watch dragon ball and see how right or wrong you where with your theories
    here is my recommendation on how to watch it
    watch the original dagon ball and don't mind that it is more a comedy
    then watch kai, it's way shorter then DBZ and you miss nothing
    then watch the movies "battle of gods" and "resurection F", that way you can skip the first 2 arcs of dragon ball super and go straight into the new content

  • @kaioken1482

    Older anime usually have like 1 song for like hundreds of episodes, unlike anime nowadays they change opening like every 10 ep. They use the same song but put additional animations based on story progessions. Thats why you see like 2-4 version of the same opening song.

    You have no idea how weird it feels to hear someone say they don't know what Dragon Ball is about.
    There was a lot of confusion in this video because of the multiple variations of each song. That's because Dragon Ball is a very long series, from before an anime made a new opening song every 12-24 episodes, instead it kept the same song for most ofit's duration (or until there was a long timeskip) and only changed a few scenes in the intro when new characters or villains appeared. So when it showed several openings at the same time it wasn't that there were paralel universes, but that the ones on the rigth and below were later in the series. There was some confusion on continuity because the opening were in chronological order on how they aired, but that's not chronological in universe.
    The first opening you showed was the original opening of Dragon ball, the one in the left for the first part and the one in the left the second part. That part lasts 152 episodes, and represent a period of 7 years inside the story.
    Second Opening (with it's 4 variations) is the original opening of Dragon Ball Z. It happens 5 years after the end of Dragon Ball and represent about 5 years. The different variations show the different villains and the changes on how the main characters look like in its 194 episodes.
    Third Opening is the Second opening of Dragon Ball Z. It's a part of Dragon Ball Z that starts after a timeskip of 7 years since they defeated the last villain. It was the opening for 95 episodes, which comprises a period of about a month in which they fight a new villain, plus an epilogue of a few days that happens 10 years after they defeat said villain.
    Fourth Opening was the opening of Dragon Ball GT in it's two variations. It happens about 5 years after the end of Dragon Ball Z, it had 64 episodes and represent about 1 year in story. At this point in time 39 years have passed since you meet the main character, (in fact, the girl that appears in the opening is the MC´s grandaughter).
    Fifth and Sixth openings are from Dragon Ball Z Kai. That is a remastered version of Dragon Ball Z, which means it covers the same arcs with better graphics and animation.
    Finally; the Seventh and Eigth openings are from Dragon Ball Super. It lasts 131 episodes and describes what happensin the 10 year period between they defeat the last villain in Dragon Ball Z and the epilogue I said happened 10 years after that.

    12:15 -12:21 Hercule nickname is satan. But a lot of animes based some of their lore from fallen angel lore. Also piccolo green guy is a demon. Actually. Literally piccolo symbol on his clothes is called demon. Namekians are based off demons. Irl. And black dude in chair Hercule. Is symbolism for satan. Thats why everybody calls him mr. Satan. Satan irl does what hercule does in dbz. Lie n etc.... shenron the dragon represents satan as well. Because they called satan "the Great Dragon" dont believe🗣 (do your research before assuming im wrong plz)

    @dogti2959 Před rokem +1

    Oh my x) If you have no knowledge about Dragon, it can be very confusing x) Here's some basic knowledge to understand what you're looking at :
    The original manga is called Dragon Ball but was adapted between Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. The major difference being that Goku, the main character, grew up between the 2. Then, the first sequel called Dragon Ball GT and its second one, Dragon Ball Super (who takes place between Z and GT but came out later). Finally, Dragon Ball Kai was a remastered version of Dragon Ball Z with better pacing. When you see 2 or more versions of the openings, let's say it's the different seasons of the show, with light differences.
    I highly recommand you to watch Dragon Ball, the first one. It's a classic and you can't see Z before, it wasn't made that way. And you wouldn't understand most of what's going on in Z without seeing the first one.

    Dragon Ball's tech is set like modern times, with advancements like flying vehicles (expensive!) and people can use guns, but martial arts is still popular. that's part of what makes the show good is that you can see Dinosaurs, Monsters, Aliens and Mecha all in the same show. and the OG Dragon Ball is my fave, Z and onward gets too flashy and the pacing gets horrid.

    Dragon Ball's earth isn't like our Earth. It's a completely made up fictional world with it's own charm and world building. It's a world of fantasy, sci-fi and mystic & magical stuff. It doesn't neatly fit into any one or two genres. So I just think of the world as it's own "Dragon Ball style" world. and the original story takes place over a period of 40+ years. So that kid isn't a clone nor did the main character wish for himself. The main character grew up and had his own family. It's just his son lol. He got him in a normal way.
    A lot of your theories were right or close enough so shout out to that. Like that there are different timelines, that there are aliens and different worlds/planets, that there are gods fighting each other, that they sometimes look and fight for the Dragon Balls, You mentioned a "clone" being evil and that's close enough to what actually happened in the show, That the guy with an M on his forehead got brainwashed and that's also somewhat close to what happened. and many other things were right too.
    Other than that a lot of your theories were WILD lmao. NOTHING to do with the show and that was fun to listen to. Him cloning himself or wishing for a kid, the Dragon Balls being a treasure guarded by a dragon, the dragon balls changing reality/dimension, the power of friendship, his grown up son being his twin because realities merged, etc...
    it was a worth watching fun video. Keep up the great content. great reaction👍

    So to summarize what the balls are without spoiling too much if you collect all of the balls it summons shenron the eternal dragon which is kind of like a genie/djinn and can grant a single wish. The wish does have some limitations but is not limited to wealth, eternal life/immortality, de aging oneself to being in their prime, raising the dead just being some of the possible wishes. The balls are the cause of many of the conflicts of the anime

    I think the first anime started coming out in the 1960s... Some came to the west, but it might vary from region to region and stuff would sometimes get changed in the translated versions... These days there tends to be more call for authenticity, especially by the more hardcore anime fans, but back in the day, many people didn't even know that the shows were Japanese... Astroboy, Speed Racer, Gigantor, Kimba the White Lion... I think Dragon Ball is one of the older shows that is still very popular in the west... Although many Dragon Ball fans in the west might have only started watching from Dragon Ball Z, which is like the second series from the franchise and came out in 1989 in Japan, I think, but was released mid to late 90s in the US... Other western countries may have gotten it earlier...
    Lupin the Third is a pretty popular, long running anime franchise, at least in Japan, I think... The manga started in 1969, I believe, although the anime first came out around 1971... I'm not sure when it first came to the west... But I think we got the specials more than the series... I think most openings for Lupin the Third are the same song/tune though, so I don't know if they'd be the best to react too... At least not all of them together lol...
    Another popular anime franchise is Gundam, which first came out in 1979... Gundam is a bit odd though, in that it has one long timeline,, that spans many seasons, but then they also release many one or two season shows, that are either set in alternate realities or so far apart in time that things are very different... I think alternate realities is more likely, although one series shows clips from all previous shows up to it and has people excavating stuff from the original timeline, but not necessarily in a way that makes sense to that timeline... Gundam might be a fun journey in terms of openings, but there are A LOT of them and, while a you might be able to get some sense of story from the openings, not all of them released in chronological order and many aren't directly related to each other lol... Still might be a fun journey though, if you're up for it... You might want to split it into multiple videos... Then again, it looks like you did an almost 2 hour video on One Piece openings, so maybe you'd prefer to do it as one lol... Gundam might have more openings though... Oh well, I'll leave that to you to work out.

    I am getting RWBY Openings reaction flashbacks. O_O
    I am also getting mixed feelings about this because in Latin America, Dragon Ball was a really huge hit. So I know intellectually that people unfamiliar with the series exist, but it always feels so freaking weird when I see it.
    As for the split screens, it is not that they are different timelines but that they used the same opening through the series and made small modifications to it to reflect what was happening in the show at the time. So to avoid showing 4 openings in a row with the same song and just a few modifications the one that made the video decided to show all versions of the same opening at the same time. So it would be that the one on the top left was the first opening, the one on the top right the second, the bottom left the third and the bottom right the fourth.
    As for decoding the plot... well, the Classic dragon ball would be the original series. Z is what comes after the original. GT was a sequel to Z that is now considered non-canon. Kai aired after GT but it is Z with remastered art style and less filler. Super aired after Kai and it is a sequel to Z/Kai that chronologically happens before GT and that is currently considered canon. So if you watch the openings for classic, Z, GT, Kai and Super in a row and try to figure things out as if it were the same timeline... well, I am just surprised that Time Travel didn't come up at some point.
