    One important thing about the Marcato, besides the runs, is that it had an overall sound improvement so now it is WAY better for action-oriented/stronger melodies than it was before (I did already liked it for that but it's much better now) and you can use portamento transitions with it!
    I write a lot of Japanese inspired melodies and tracks and new Marcato will see a lot of use from me for melodies!

    There was a small fix to this update done a short while ago (1.7.1), the creator Alex explained it on VI Control: (9-3-22) "Expressive legato in v1.7 vs Advanced legato in v1.5.
    To the folks that commented that the new Expressive legato mode feels different to the previous Advanced setting, please accept my apologies - you were actually right. As it turns out, I realised this morning that I had mistakenly changed a couple of parameters in the legato settings, and these two parameters have made quite a noticeable difference in the way the expressive legato "flows". I must have made this mistake very close to the actual release date, and because I ended up using low-latency legato for all the demo material, I simply didn't notice. There are literally hundreds of parameters to be tweaked in the back-end of every patch, so it was just an oversight that will be easy enough to fix. So anyway, I was wrong to shut that conversation down - my bad. I just didn't want it to instantly turn into a "v1.5 is better than v1.7" thread."

    Thanks, was looking to upgrade my Strings, been using note performer for a while just because I love the fact that I can write freely without having to worry too much about the programming end, but CSS seems to make it easy to just jump in and play. Thanks for taking the time and Happy-late Birthday Chris!

    Why does My CSS have audiable Hiss noise on the background ......especially with high Dynamic(CC1)????

  • @michaelrasbury

    Suddenly my articulation sets in logic don’t behave the same way they did with version 1.5 or 1.6? Any ideas? So I'll send a CC58 data or a combo of CC58 and note on to call a poly sustain setting. These articulation settings worked flawlessly in 1.6 but the same go haywire in 1.7. I think the problem happens when I try to switch between a sustain legato and poly. When I use the basic articulations listed in the manual on CC58, all works fine. Tapping the actual key switches work fine also. I even rebuilt my entire articulation settings and they work fine in 1.6 but not in 1.7. It’s like something has changed a little bit in the scripting inside of Kontakt. In Logic, how do I make an articulation set that has a sustains poly and sustains legato? Every time I try to switch between legato and poly on any sustain articulations the articulation settings don’t work anymore. I literally opened 1.6 in logic and all articulation settings worked fine but that same group of settings does not work correctly in 1.7. Have you experienced this?

      In case you want to re-open old projects using CSS, this will help keep both versions separate. It's the way Alex recommends going about this, at least for now.

    please put more pauses between your phrases when you play legato ... no string player plays like this... you play strings lines like a piano player .... note after note with no break-in between....thanks for the review.

    • @ChristopherSiu
      @ChristopherSiu  Před 2 lety +11

      To be fair, theoretically they could play continuous lines as long as they wanted to, haha! Do keep in mind this was more to demonstrate the patches and the overall sound. Thanks for watching!
