- Presenting you all my footplating video aboard 7200 AZAD WP class steam locomotive. The Indian locomotive class WP was a class of 4-6-2 "Pacific" steam locomotives used in India. It was introduced after World War II for passenger duties, marking the change from 'X' to 'W' as the classification code for broad gauge locomotives. WP class locomotives were capable of doing up to 110 km/h (68 mph) and were easily recognized by their cone-shaped bulging nose, usually with a silver star device painted on it.
WP 7200 received a full heavy overhaul at Amritsar works in April 2015 and is now kept at Rewari shed near New Delhi for excursion service.
For the first time in Indian Railways, a time-tabled weekly commercial steam train service has been started between Garhi Harsaru and Farukhnagar section of Northern Railway zone, after steam traction phased out nearly 25 years back. On 15 September 2018, the day ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ Pakhwara (Mission Clean India) had commenced, Chairman of Railway Board Ashwani Lohani during his visit to Farukhnagar had announced the train service to fulfill the long-standing demand of the public to have a train service on Sunday. It has been done to boost tourism-related activities in the region, attracting tourists and steam enthusiasts from all over the world to visit these places for a ride on steam engine hauled train.
Currently, the steam train is being hauled by “WP 7200 AZAD”, a broad gauge 1947, “M/s. Baldwin Locomotive Works U.S.A.” make. It was brought to India in the year 1947, which was also the year of independence, hence, the locomotive was named “AZAD”. It has been restored to its pristine beauty as well as mechanical engineering perfections. The revival of the locomotive has been carried out at Heritage Steam Shed, Rewari of Northern Railway zone.
As per the timings for the steam train service, train number 04445 Garhi Harsaru- Farrukhnagar Steam Special train service departs from Garhi Harsaru at 9:30 AM to reach Farrukh Nagar at 10:15 AM. While on its return journey, i.e. train number 04446 Farrukh Nagar- Garhi Harsaru Steam Special train service departs from Farrukh Nagar at 11:15 AM to reach Garhi Harsaru at 12:00 PM. En route, in both directions, this steam special train service has a stoppage at Sultanpur Kaliawas Halt. The introduction of this steam train service has been a big achievement for the national transporter in terms of heritage preservation as now its display and ride has been opened to the public at a nominal fare of Rs 10 only.

Steam Engine:--- The True Engine
while staring the video, the videographer should've shot the front view of train and movements of the wheels and pistons. It would've highlighted the grand occasion. Steam locos was/is a wonder to watch

This was an American (from USA, Pacific class ) engine. Later even made in India by Chitranjan locomotive works.

@@aveekraymukherjee3386 Bhai england, netherlands me usse bhi purane engine ko kayse 160 ki speed me chalate hay wo pehle pata kar lo...However this is a WP class engine with a maximum speed of only 110 kmph not 160 but......If they would have repair it properly then this old baby could run fast too.....

It is attached to provide electricity to the coaches as the loco is not generating any electricity

Does this train (I mean, this Garhi Harsaru - Farukhnagar Steam Express) still run on weekly basis on each-and-every Sunday? Net says, on September 2018 it was inaugurated, and due to lack of tourists, it has been closed forcibly as only local people used this train and not even twenty seats💺 were filled up ever. Last train ran on 25th November, 2018.
Please provide latest and updated information regarding this DREAM TRAIN. I will be highly obliged as an avid steam-rail fan.
sorry to inform you but this heritage steam train aka Swachhta hi Sewa express is not running due to the current global pandemic. but there is a plan to resume the service.

Can you share information about fare and where to book?
Sure . Normal fare is applicable for this train i.e ₹10 from Garhi harsaru to farukhnagar . You can get the tickets from either Delhi as Delhi to farukhnagar (₹15 i guess) as well as from Garhi harsaru station . But remember it only runs on Sundays.

It used to reach 100+ kmph on daily basis but add the steam locomotive maintenance is very hard nowadays it is restricted to 60 kmph

Manufacturing and using of plastic & polithin is nothing, emission of fuel smoke from automobiles🚗 is nothing, chopping off the woods is nothing, Just running a steam locomotive as a joyride in a shorter root, and that too, on a weekly basis (and NOT on a daily basis) suddenly tend to create a havoc against the environment, eh? Sorry Sir, but if mother nature acts such biased, partial, and selective about whom she will choose to be her deadliest enemy, we're helpless.
But we can no way leave or get rid of our beautiful old steam goddesses (be she a Canadian/American WP, be she a British WG), even not by your perseverances, provocations, and (endless) propagandas 😡😡😡
If you are such an obsessive lover of scrapping the relics, why don't you just throw away all your shitty furniture out of your abode? But no need to give your uncalled for advice to the Indian Railway. Already they have done so many blunders by taking wrong steps one after another, now only those fewer things they seem to do the right way, you tend to ruin that too, right?
