My family is from Durango but I was born in America and haven’t had the chance to visit yet. I’m eternally grateful for this video which gives me a glimpse of what my homeland looks like! Thank you!
I hope I will be able to go back sometime I left when I was 16 years old and I am 67 now an I hope I be able to go back once again thanks for the video muchaisimas Gracias
I married a Mexican doctor who is a native of Durango and I like it. It is a bit challenging for a vegetarian but we are working that out. And we are only 3 hours from Mazatlan!
Certainly limits the restaurant options, but plenty of great grocery stores. I hope you fell in love with the city and surrounding areas as much as I did. And that's true, a beach escape is not far away!
@jim bruton You and your wife are living in Durango? What area of medicine does she practice? I plan to move this fall and will be looking for a primary care doctor and English will be a plus.
So glad you got to go visit your family and experience the Durango life again! I absolutely loved my time there and now thinking of getting a ranch out there in the near future.
@@benvoyage that was always my fathers dream. My dad had 10 sisters 1 brother, most still live there. My cousins are teachers and lawyers there. So we still have so much family there. I was born in Rodeo, Durango which is about 2 hour drive from the city. I showed my dad your video it was cool to see him light up always when talking about Durango. I still have pictures of the house my dad grew up in there in Durango.
Hi Ben! Your story resonated with me! I am moving to Durango next month after being in the Philippines this year. My parents are actually from a small town outside of the city but I haven't been there in a long time and would like to stay in the city. A couple of quick questions for you: 1. What are some of the best areas to stay at? 2. How was the internet speeds? Thanks for the video!
Hi, sorry for late reply! Your parents must be a part of the rancho culture being outside the city, that's awesome. I really liked staying in El Centro since I had everything I needed within walking distance, but still only a short drive to anywhere in the city since traffic is more or less not a thing there. I had a friend live on the outskirts of the city near the Sendai Sushi NOT in the center and that is a great place to have more land and to raise a family. Anywhere near Parque Guadiana is also nice, but much more working class. The internet speeds were fantastic, very modern. Of course it will depend on if you get your own internet or if you're at the mercy of the provider your Airbnb has chosen. You're going to love the city, especially if you enjoy visiting the smaller areas outside the city in addition to what the city itself has to offer.
Enjoyed your video! My grandfather was from a small rancho (La Lagunita) outside of Santiago Papasquiaro. Visited often as a child and returned a few times before pandemic. Whare can I find your vids of outlying areas? As much as I love the capital, I'd love to explore other towns.
Glad you enjoyed it! I agree, the neighboring towns and ranchos is the reason I love Durango so much. My first camp video will be uploaded in the next couple weeks, been learning the whole editing process so the first one is taking some time as I learn.
I want to move to Durango. Been researching the area for a year. Live in Baja but the whole peninsula is overrun with Americans and cost of living is sky high. Why did you move to Durango?
Great question! I moved to Durango after living in Bali for 2 years and I wanted to get a genuine Mexican experience, with almost zero tourists, and in some of the most beautiful untouched nature I've come across. Once you leave the city it is all rancheros, hills, and mountains. Pure bliss to explore.
Thanks! Great video! I want to visit Durango city someday. I love Querétaro, and I live in Pachuca because I love having cold nights all year. I know that Durango is cold at night too. What do you think about Durango weather?
Glad you liked it! The winter is a bit dry for my taste, the lack of humidity isn't good for my skin. But overall I love the weather, especially in the summer and fall. Since I camp often, it's important to have cool nights to survive.
@@benvoyage Thanks for your answer! I love the high altitude dry air. Durango is not as high up as Pachuca, but it's something. What are the most beautiful areas in the city?
Did you enjoy the tourist tram in the sky? 🤔 I like the towns westrrn feel environment. Years ago I use to go with a good friend to watch the rodeo competition shows at club rodeo in the hills/mountains. Durango vs Mazatlan. Durango cowboy riders 🤠. put on a great show and the DJ would play the favoriate song of the winning rider... Of each team. Fun times, lots of fine ladies and dancing 🩰🩰🩰🩰🎶🎵.

Glad you enjoyed it thank you for comment!

man, I truly understand the getting emotional when leaving a place. It happens to me and I have never stayed months anywhere while traveling.
Yeah man you get it. It's not an easy thing to leave a place you developed an emotional attachment to.
