I love to watch the video of Bjorn, Anni-Frid, and Benny’s performance of Why Did It Have to be Me in Australia in 1977. The exuberance of the song and performance is wonderful. Watching it over and over, I eventually discovered this video. I really enjoy this version of Why Did It Have to be Me. Benny is such a talented composer and musician. He appears to have mellowed with age, but I noticed that at about 3:25 into the song he started to jump up like he did when ABBA performed the song so many years ago. You really can see and feel the joy of the performers and audience. The orchestra (Orkester) and singers are great and they appear to be having such fun performing the song for their audience…and themselves. I am happy I found this version. I added to my favorites playlist.
Although I'm Norwegian I've loved Swedish music all my life, especially what has come from Benny Andersson and his arrangements. Björn Ulvaeus must not be forgotten either.. And the voices of Helene Sjöholm, Tommy Körberg.. They are marvellous!!
I´m a Swede and I´m so critical toward anything Swedish. I don´t live abroad without a reason. But when it comes to music... Wow! My deepest respect to my fellow Swedes!
So you know all composers around the world - right? Gosh, you music consumers make me sick. Music is not athletics, there is no first, no fastest or no strongest guy. So why don´t you write that you just like it a lot? That would be enough.

He is the only person i know that writes pop-music, musicals AND "gammaldans"... BUT, i can agree, this is no contest. Paul McCartney/John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Madonna, Michael Jackson where all great music/song-writers, among many.

Well seeing Benny has still got the rocker instinct....Helen and Tommy both give a cracking performance of `why did it have to be`. Got the crowd up with them too.....the old Abba magic is still there......even Benny,even in his 60`s,gets into the rocker beat....I would love a copy of that concert on CD.
