Would love the Rupert Spira video, if you can find the time to capture and upload.

So, I should stop looking for what I want?

I accept this, I understand this. I just don't know how to practice this. If I'm smoking a joint, spending time with friends, playing games and being merry, as I often do. Aren't I in practice already letting go of my future needs, my future desires. Do I need to do something else? My mind is too black and white to know how to put shades of grey into practice.

you still have to be on a journey. to want to be on the journey. this isn't about remaining static, it's about searching for the true goal.

I really liked this clip because I couldn't 'progress' (see the marks?) in The Witness because it was too hard for my limited brain.
I watched this clip over and over-luckily I was still good enough to get this clip-and I realized I should just let the fuck go and not play this game anymore. I believe there are weaker minds than me: people who started the game but were not able to receive this clip. so this is me. not down there, not up there. just your average person who recognized their limits.
it's been 2 or 3 years now and I STILL absolutely have no fucking intention of resuming this game. :) thanks Gangaji!
ps. the graphics were very nice. very stylized. I liked that.
pps. the lack of dopamine, now that was just unacceptable.

I like this story as a relevant, concrete example of Gangaji's message. I had never considered how the videos might apply to the game itself! (Besides the Moriarty lecture, which was a little on-the-nose.) Thank you for sharing.

I had a similar experience but only regarding the triangle puzzles. For the life of me I couldn't figure out their meaning and stopped playing until one day the solution suddenly occured to me months after. This is a very special game.

this is one of those deeply meaningful concepts, if it means something to you. If it doesn't then it doesn't. see what I did there?

"what is here when I stop trying to get anything, and how much of that is here?"I'm gonna take this as advice on how to play the game too, because so far I'm hating it! It's super dull and repetitive and so far nothing interests me about this seeming meaningless communication. The Witness is one of the most painful games I've ever played and I don't mean Painful like Counter Strike but as in: I hate every minute in the island. It's like doing homework. It is not fun, it is frustrating, monotonous and tedious...
Still, Jonathan Blow is my favorite person in the planet not just in games and Braid is still the objectively the best game ever made and and my fav of all time!
The Witness is sucking hard for me right now! I hate everything about it. And I won't stop until I 100% it.
John got high on his own supply, but that's okay. I need him to make at least five more games before he dies. I hope everyone plays and buys The Witness.

+Stacy Mitchell Wow, for me The Witness it's so mysterious and beautiful, and every aspect of the game has a lot of meanings, I'n enjoying every moment of the game. I hope you can too.

+Chiko Chonny I felt like that with Braid. Braid was a dream to play and joyous time but The Witness is painful. I'm not done yet, I'm in the swamp now (the last area for me) and I'm dreading going back just thinking about it feels like a shore but I'm still trying my best. I just uncovered a whole new area and while trying to explore it I was immediately hit by a dozen or more panels creating great resistance for exploring and learning something new...

But I want to finish this damn game.
Also I always think about what Dave Chapelle said about "The Secret" when I see trash like this. Try saying all of this to a room full of starving homeless Africans displaced by their neighboring warlord. "Relax just investigate yourself" "BUT I NEED BREAD YOU DUMB WOMAN!"

      @IuliusPsicofactum Před 7 lety +10

I think this is about what you want to make or achieve of yourself, and giving it up, not to give up what you need to exist in the first place to be able to achieve something or to be able to give it up and start investigating yourself for a little now... A starving person could still do it, in between the times while looking for food.
