    Rough and rugged outdoor style in a tough and sturdy design
    Introducing new PRO TREK watches built for the rough and rugged outdoors. The sharp lines and tapered edges of the metal bezel evoke the sharp edge of a sturdy wood axe. The carefully selected materials, colours, and finishes are all inspired by bushcraft survival gear.

    Casio products are superb.
    They are the only quartz watches with consistently perfect seconds hand alignment, a trick Seiko will never master.

    Casio I applaud you targeting the outdoors community with these watches. But you need to start targeting outdoor youtbers in North America and Europe. Protrek is an awesome brand. I use my Protreks hunting, fishing, hiking and my everyday life becauas of their features and what it says about me and my hobbies. Nobody knows about them compared to gshocks. Please oh Please start marketing these to us (and put saphire crystals in more of your models😅) The outdoor communities would eat these up IF they know about them.
    I see more people wearing over priced victorinox watches because they perceive them as tough outdoor watches and they know nothing about Protreks.

    • @loganholmberg2295
      @loganholmberg2295 Před rokem +5

      So please target outdoor youtubers as well as watch guys. Send out samples. If they see value in your product they'll tell their audiences. Its something the outdoor equipment guys here have been doing for over a decade to huge success. We are talking about people who will buy a 300 dollar axe to chop firewood not because of its marketing. But because a youtuber showed them its a good valuable tool that will last years upon years while looking great.

    It's good to build every new things from bio plastic except watches!
    I have Casio watches purchases in 1995, work without any problem.
    By shifting to bio plastic, The watch will be less durable and it's will be destroyed by normal bacteria activities in +20 years.

    • @loganholmberg2295
      @loganholmberg2295 Před rokem +8

      Its a valid point. I think their hyping biomass plastic since its made from plant material but these watches aren't cheap. Is anyone going to want to invest in a "tough" watch likes these if the cases are going to start breaking in 10 or 20 years. These aren't smart watches. people are buying these as tools to wear till they break. And in the case of gshocks and protreks we hope that's a very long time.
      Is anyone going to drop a few hundred dollars on a Protrek if they know it has a built in shelf life? Id rather stick with my Prw-60s and 70 with their metal casebacks and lugs
      I applaud Protreks focus on recyclable packaging but they need to communicate how long these watches are going to last otherwise consumers are going to drop the brand like a hot potatoe. Which is a shame causa they don't advertise this brand enough outside of japan. They are fantastic field watches and the people who are into bushcraft and the outdoors are also into tools that last lifetimes that they might pass on down to the kids. I know that's what I'm doing. But I'm leary of these biomass products. I don't buy expensive Casios cause I see them as disposable. When the batteries eventually die on my solar watches I plan on maintaining them. not throwing the watch in the trash.

      @@loganholmberg2295 exactly true, biomass plastics are good materials for many usages, except watches!

    • @grepastvchromebook8949
      @grepastvchromebook8949 Před rokem +4

      Exactly my thought since I first saw this move. Unless they have some ungodly special treatment of said bioplastic, it will crumble apart in an unreasonably short period of time. Considering the amount of non-biodegradable stuff inside, it is very likely that it will be less eco-friendly than buiilding the watch from something more durable in the first place.

    • @grepastvchromebook8949
      @grepastvchromebook8949 Před rokem +4

      Adding on: Satisfied PRW-50 (analog) and PRW-30(digital) owner
      Both plastic+stainless watches. The important part, back casing+strap lugs is on both molded in a single piece from stainless which is fantastic.
      Casio has some really important things to prove after switching from this to biomass plastics.

      Nope - there are often confusions, but note that “bioplastic” does not mean “biodegradable plastic”, whether plastic or bioplastic, they both need an additive to make it biodegradable. There are non-biodegradable bioplastics out there.
      Also, even if something is biodegradable, it will need to have the right composition for the decomposing bacteria to thrive such as humidity, temperature and surrounding nutrients, and your wrist and wherever you keep your watch at home is not one of them. If enough decomposing bacteria is able to thrive on your wrist, it’s probably gonna eat you up as well.

    i love protrek watches but the big problem with this one is that it was designed by a designer.
    if you want a watch for bushcraft people then you'd better involve them in the process of designing it.. in the outdoors everything needs to be the most practical possible. every single design point in this video is just that: design /form /"inspiration". it's a very good example of form over function design in an area where function is all that matters..
    what casio should do is a protrek watch equivalent to citizen's promaster tough line. if casio could put a triple sensor in a Citizen Promaster tough it would be the perfect bush-craft watch. there's no need for knife shaped fire colored hands and nordic pan textured dials in gigantic watch cases that get bumped around and caught in your gear.
    also the stainless steel back-plate with integrated regular lugs in the prg30 and prg50 series is the most brilliant thing casio did in a while in the protrek line. those should be in every protrek. you can use whatever strap if needed (even paracord straps) and you'll never have issues with broken lugs like on the rangeman (gw9400).

    Casioak success must've gone to their heads. This feels like a play for the Patek Phillipe Nautilus aesthetic now. It needs better colorways asap. The design and marketing is incongruous on many levels.
