Dave: I'm finally about to take Mimban's orbit.
Fall of the Republic: What about the droid attack on the wookiees?
I have noticed that while no Clone Platoons are lost in battle on Ruusan, they seem to merge platoons when units get depleted. The garrison there has gone from ten platoons to eight despite no loses being counted in the post-battle result.
I'm not sure that garrison losses are counted in the casualties lists.
Subjugator went out with a bit of a wimper, a shame because that’s a awesome flagship on the Seppy side
It needs to be properly supported so those ion cannons can down enemy shields.
corvettes might not be good anti-fighter, but their point defence is indispensable
the sad thing is they're still the best in slot for anti fighter last I checked
they ARE the best anti fighter its in the maths off hteir guns
@@kR-qj7rw Even better than the lighter one or the gunship?
@@DIEGhostfish I'm not arguing just dropping this here
Gunships also aren't necessarily anti air it all depends on the guns.
Dp20s are corvettes but not anti fighter as a role they have some but are mostly turbolasers boats per pop and reload they have one of the highest DPS of the eawx mods, they have a small frame and the Corvette shield and hull category makes them able to dodge tank a lot of damage and as all ships without hard points means they can get back to full HP or keep putting as much damage as they can at 99 or 1% of hp.
Corellian corvettes have the best anti air guns on the republic and the lac isn't too far behind, the thing is rapid laser corvettes will help with rhe point defense .
Gunships are borderline op when you ask devs who k ow the math that goes in bur people send like 5 to their deaths and never try them again, for example the gosanti has anti air guns ans a proton for alpha striking tanky fighters one squad of 3 can tango and kill like 36 fighters (3 squads ) on its own no problem and they mass very good and are good to chase the enemy snub craft around while pd (point defense ships) stay close to protect the bigger ships
Bottom line is to anyone wondering check the guns things have some units have multi role guns to help on most situations and some are really good at one thing .
Much like fighters people underestimate how much of corvettes of gunships are needed for a critical mass
Also why it's a bad idea to send bombers at ships heavily armed with anti air guns cough lucrehulks cough
Gotta love how the AI decided to just blockade that one planet until it auto fell from rebellion (which I think is really stupid you don't even get a chance to fight it out.), but Gravlex Med is like "Right! Keep marching into the grinder, lads! We'll get 'em eventually!"
" watching them fail miserably at giant dreadnoughts" .... like your first mandator attack on fondor?
Dave: Why does all of my stuff just get destroyed and characters insist on dying? This sucks!
Also Dave: Refuses to micromanage his units.
we love him tho lmao
No, Aayla ran away into a corner, you just stopped paying attention to her and a few Squadrons of Droid Fighters found her. It's almost liyou shouldn't deploy Jedi Heroes in space battles, especially Starfighter-intensive ones, if you aren't willing to micromanage them.
I'm glad you paired the support pelta with the corvettes! It's really a must do with the republic imo just cause I think their ships are pretty bad compared to the CIS. Though that said, maybe I've just been using republic ships wrong because you had some very good effect this episode!
Also Andor is incredible, I hope you enjoy it, I had a really good time with it.
Bro shipping ships
15:32 - Oh! Is that the Malevolent? Does Grievous get one as an upgrade to his ship?
Yeah, the Subjector-class didn't fair too well, did it? I think part of it might've been the tactics employed. As I recall in the Clone Wars, the Malevolent shot targets at extreme range (well beyond their own weapons ranges) with its mega ion cannons, closed to range to destroy primary targets, then used its small compliment of vulture and fighter droids to finish off the remainder. Getting that close initially is asking for trouble.
34:47 - Yeah, what this game needs is some way to tell a planet to continuously build a ship and then assign it a fleet to supply. Having some kind of fleet template with the number of ships of each type listed would also be nice. This would also make the smaller shipyard planets a bit more valuable; they could make all the pelters and corvettes while the bigger shipyards make your hard hitters. Having to do all this manually is a pain.
1:06:46 -
Dave: Sure, let's been Secura in. Why not?
Also Dave: This completely fragile fighter has exploded in this massive furball with Secura inside it! How is this possible?!
It's mostly because it was deployed in a poor formation by the AI. Hurling dreadnoughts at a problem doesn't really work as Dave has experienced on several occasions when the enemy is dug in with their own defenses and fleet. Just dropping a Praetor into a formation of CIS capital ships and support craft would've ended the same way.
That battle was amazing
Very epic! Good stuff!
You can build the strongest, most advanced ship in the galaxy, but if you have people too arrogant and incompetent to use it properly, it won't mean much in the end.
Also I'm beginning to suspect that Order 66 is already quietly under way with all the hero losses!
Andor is really good Dave you will enjoy it
Great show all of it 😄
I’m gonna love this
Nuuu, you got the hot blue french lady killed!
...So Space Bismarck was kinda meh and Mimban was savage.
As a fan of the giant death wedges, I loved the return to Mimban. The Praetor next to the Venators was glorious.
the ships here share stats with thrawns revenge, fun fact the subjugator is still great there like it can stun the 3 or so bigger ''stronger'' battle cruisers than it but its 1v1 nature means it can duel those ships easily
ts a great battle cruiser
Oh shoot I just noticed Dave forgot he could get Rothana Heavy Engineering on Rothana which would give you cheaper vehicles and Acc's.
Dropping the subjugator on you and taking the "Just out of hyperspace" bonus damage really made that a boring fight.
Pelters seem to be better at anti-fighter than corvettes. Corvettes are better at taking out missiles
So what kind of pizza did you have?
It's a shame that there isn't a similar mod like this for the Rebellion Era. There is Thrawn's Revenge, but that is post-Empire. The UI and resolution drop from this to classic Empire at War will be a shock.
@@slimdiddyd right, I need to redownload Empire at War. Thanks!
Someday the Thrawn's Revenge and Fall of Republic team intend to release one with both a Disney and EU campaign but it'll likely be a while before we see it.
So, how good is Shak Tii? He hasn't used her so far. Not that you'd want to use her, but still. I am very curious.
35:55 wouldn't base defenses work well? It's a good map for them.
the haet is also in revenge of the sith in the background on utapau (where grievous is hiding) an some other places like hangars and stuff never used in the cartooons so it deosnt have the same fanbase of the laat
Didn't see it, but i'm the first to like it.
Could you have retreated everything with a working drive and brought in the Praetor to finish of the space station and tank the fighter horde?
what is the mod folder?
The Subjugator is pretty naff in my experience, I would almost always rather have another donut when I play as the separatists.
If mustafar will be the last hurrah of the republic the ground invasion should be lead by Anakin how will "die" during the fighting and become Darth Vader
Has your Disney started working again, and are you by chance using a Samsung smart telly 😅
If I believe I am right the term Cruiser has two terms one is the one most people think of, and the other is a ship that can operate solo without any need of supporting ships. Practically an one ship navy though I could be wrong, if anyone else who knows better can you say what I said is right or wrong? Thanks.
Any more Dragon Age in the works?
I don't know how you've avoided watching Andor so far, it's one of the best things to have 'Star Wars' in the title in years.
Play Wrhammer 40k Dawn of War PLEASEEEE
He did
Dave, loving this. A couple points as someone that has also played and modded EaW for years.. some tips.
AOTR vs TR and Rep: AOTR, in my opinion, is a much better and much more in depth mod than any other EaW mod. The AOTR team has some of the best modders in the entire EAW community (with Steiners Modding Group). Not only is it probably one of the most impressive visual overhauls (individual turrets and barrels moving on ships), but the AOTR team has really really changed many of the dynamics of the actual combat systems in the game, and have made it much more in depth... I think the actual combat in AOTR feels better than any other mod. Not to sound negative towards FoR, but I think you'll find AOTR a huge breath of fresh air in a good way. Honestly, I would move on to AOTR as quickly as you can. With the amount of units, multiple factions, and the way the AI is, conquering the entire map is usually a lot more digestible. I tried FoR, and I stopped and went back to AOTR. There is also a huge update for AOTR coming soon as well.
General tips:
1) Use CTRL + A to select all units on the map, easier.
2) Use control groups, have each ship class in a control group. I usually use 1 for ships, 2 for bombers, and 3 for fighters... faster control on map.
3) Attack move is your friend. The way the AI and movement is designed, using the attack move key with ground units allows you to get the most out of them.
Ehhh AoTR's weird artillery cannon stuff seemed really bad in space.
I have plenty of experience playing AOTR, I am quite familiar with the mod (as I've said many times in this series, so I'm surprised you missed that). I also use control groups, attack move, and Ctrl+A frequently in these videos too already.
Andor is great. Hope you enjoy it whenever Disney+ stops shitting itself. (Or you seek out the ways of the Sith, if you know what I mean)
More the ways of Han Solo
I do mind the Coke. Soda is unhealthy and we want you to stick around.
