- A few weeks ago, Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart (The New York Knicks) were nice enough to visit the Brooklyn Basketball Academy. While they were there, JJ Redick's son, Knox Redick, challenged him to a 3-point contest. Let's see what happens.

Josh is the best.
I bet that made you feel like one proud daddy. Very cool moment for your son.
Clearly not at shooting 3's 😂
He was being easy on him. He clanked a couple on purpose. 😂
Well clearly not!
Josh is the second best
>loses 3 pt contest to 8 year old
>shoots 52% from three vs philly
Wild.
Of course JJ’s 8 year old son is shooting 40% from 3
Some of this stuff is actually transferred over genetically. Look at Dell Curry and his sons, all great shooters. The only thing they have to do is work really hard and they have a good chance of improving on their father's legacy. (or Mothers)
@@pinobluevogel6458 In a lot of cases the children are worse than the parent. Steph is an outlier.
@@pinobluevogel6458 theres no way youre calling a jump shot genetics 😂😂
@@spoodermun1722 it’s 2023😂😂
@@iZaners Well a lot of it has to go right to make it to the top. A ton of hard work, a decent amount of luck and most importantly the right attitude.
I'm mostly claiming a high proficiency in sports carries over in children, giving them some amount of base aptitude that is above and beyond a blank slate. There are several cases where athletes in all kinds of sports saw how easy their children picked up skills. Almost like they were naturals.
The fact that Josh allowed this to be published content shows he's a pretty good dude and can take a joke
He's always come off as a really down to earth dude as far as NBA players are concerned and his Knicks just beat the Cavs today!
He lost a 3 point contest to a REDICK! Nothing to be ashamed of.
You know he let him win right?
Probably not. Josh is a 33-35% shooter. He’s streaky. I’ve seen him shoot 7-9. I’ve also seen him shoot 0-9. Let’s not diminish the kid. He won fair and square.
@@3piecespicycards930 C'mon man just have common sense I can't say the kid has future but don't get me wrong any NBA player makes at least 85 % of their shots at practice so don't tell me that jj's son won him fairly as good as he is at that age
I cant help but imagine that’ll gonna be a core memory and go a long way for Knox’s confidence
given hes a son of a famous nba player thats still relevant after retiring its hard to imagine the kid doesnt play ball with a lot of his guests
Id make sure i have a date every single time josh hart is on tv and bring this up :D
People who say "core memory" were either molested or want to molest
@@rogoznicafc9672 Only thing I'd counter is, how many are chill like Josh though and would let the kid feel the pressure of having the lead and force him to keep making shots and okay with losing to an 8 year old.
Ten years later, Josh Hart will have his revenge 😂😂😂
Hart is such a class act, man. As a dad, I applaud you for having men like him around your son! Character is more an imitative behavior than a learned one!
I am sure Josh Hart is already planning his revenge ten years later 😂😂😂
Villanova breeds not just great players, but great human beings
I grew up with him. Mans a Diamond
I suspect that character is more complex than that. You can be raised by terrible, selfish, awful parents, and be surrounded by criminals, and yet turn out to be a stellar human being. And someone raised by the nicest, kindest parents can turn out to be selfish scum. The truth is that we don't know why we are the way we are, and we might not learn for a long time. Brain research is still in its infancy. Maybe we will never know. But I do know one thing, deep down we humans are selfish, tribal, instinct driven animals suffering the delusion that we matter.
@@Zeno_334you still need some sort of influence to show you which way is right even when you only know your folks are wrong. You'll get it from somewhere
Perfect timing. Right after a game 4 masterclass from Josh Hart, RJ Barrett, and Jalen Brunson
Yeah, you definitely can't post this after a poor performance from him. He'd be trolled like crazy haha
@Justin Waters lol. I love whites that hate other whites. Trips me out so hard.
@ is that serious in basketball you need to be confident and think are the best even if it isn’t true
And a year on after this video, Josh Hart is shooting over 50% in the playoffs from three, yes it’s been three games, but still he’s improved that’s for sure
A year later and even though we don't have Barrett anymore and Hart was off this game the Knicks had another game 4 masterclass♠
That’s definitely gonna be a running joke in the Knicks locker room 😂
yup, i heard it at the practice earlier
@@kingjasko fr we pop corned his car😂😂😂
Nice name 💯
@@trippyChief You to bro!
Don't worry Brunson saw it live and will him know about it to the day they will be in a rocking chair reminiscing about life.
"I know what a 3pt contest is" psycho genetics lmao
He has Duke written all over him early hahaha
Like father, like son, they say.
JJ's son already better than Marcus Morris
Ben Simmons too
@@thecleaner94 😂😂😂😂
Needs to adopt Ben Simmons
He prob play better defense too
He’s also better then the entire roccets team
What a gift to be able to give your son. Access like this can’t be duplicated. As a dad, I worked my a off to give my son better than I had growing up. JJ must be on cloud nine knowing his hard work and sacrifice is setting his boy up for success.
Access in one generation is privilege in the second, redick unfortunately also setting his son up for criticism in twenty years :(
@@therealbs2000 no doubt. If the criticism is valid I hope the young man was raised to reflect and improve. If it’s not, and it’s just a bunch of hating then that young man can “carry the hell on!” To quote the great KP
@@therealbs2000 weird how we talk about criticism like it’s a bad thing. if Knox grows up to be a NBA prospect criticism just comes w the game. as with pretty much anything you do in life (jobs, school, etc.).
@@LilShrooms the comment is not about criticism as such. the comment is about the fact that the very thing that you praise in the present will be the thing the future will criticize you for.
Man every team needs a Josh Hart. Such a solid dude.
Underrated comment. NYK need to sign him to 3-4 year contract. Heart and hustle.
@@SPLIFFSNWEALTHMEDIA Hart and hustle
Facts
Yea we probably made a mistake giving him up in Portland, but I'm happy for him now playing with his pal JB, making a run in the playoffs
Josh Hart shoots like lebron brick
Respect to Josh!
I bet it was a lot of fun for Knox. Oh and the bragging rights on P.E. lessons. Damn.
I am sure Josh Hart is already planning his revenge ten years later😂😂😂
Perfect timing to release this video, didn’t think Josh and Jalen could get any better as people. Those Villanova boys are just the best ❤
Very classy from Josh Hart. Love him as a player, and from what I've seen of him off the court too.
This kids gonna carry OKC to the 2035 championship
So old still gonna by rebuilding by 2035 😂😂
Bron still gonna playing that time
@@Pyronek thunder gonna have 10 chips by then
The fact a 8 year old can make it to the rim from the 3pt line IA honestly truly amazing lol
He was shooting high school threes, not NBA. Besides on the sides, Josh had to shoot farther.
@@alsansoni5321 either way still impressive. I really hoop and at 8 that was not my range whatsoever lol
@@gawdlyb5117 problem is that Knox is lunging. This is not good shot mechanics. I'm surprised JJ is letting him shoot beyond free throw line extended tbh. Obviously JJ knows way more about basketball than I do but I do wonder why he's letting him shove the ball instead of shoot it.
@dp-rd7cq steph did it. That's why it look like steph pushes the ball. Him shooting with his dad before games made it that way
@@dp-116 He's 8 bro, he's never getting enough power for proper form. I'm sure he'll grown into it and they'll adjust as he gets older.
This kid is WAY better shooter than I was at that age. Actually, I cannot remember anyone in 2nd or 3rd grade in my school to be able to even score a single 3...
It's tough to even have the legs to get it there at 8 years old
my coach at that time in mid90s actually screamed if i put up one even i constantly made them in practice and called it a stupid shot. good for todays kids
It’s extremely impressive, and he’s not hucking it at all. One hand involved, stayin in the cookie jar, etc.
He’s going to be a great shooter one day, if he wants to stay with bball!
The door is closed comment had me cracking up!
“I know what a 3 point contest is”. Does JJ know who he’s talking to 😂
Having your 8 y/o shoot 40+ % from beyond the arc is Crazy 💀
Flash forward to him drilling 3s against Philly
Josh is such a super nice guy. His smile is infectious. Love this dude, since the time he moved to knicks.
this is so inspirational. i bet knox will cherish this moment and brag about it with his friends at school. jj ur awesome for this.
Thank you for letting us see you little guy much respect to you JJ always im a Orlando Magic fan always respected how you carried yourself and I followed you through the rest of your career.
You should definitely create a series where Knox battles NBA players from the 3 😂
JJ has some great timing. Let’s go Knicks !
Love the content JJ! would love more IRL stuff on this channel!
facts, he needs to peep all the sidemen soccer videos and take notes 😂😂😂😂e
incredibly impressive for an 8 year to be shooting 3s especially hitting 40%
well done Knox
and kudos to Josh Hart for being a good sport
Little man holds his follow thru! Great job JJ.
the shrug by Knox 😂😂😂
loved every second of this keep up the fire content and dad life sir
I love this so much. Josh Hart has catalyzed the Knicks into a promising playoff team and has played himself into a huge multi-year contract this off-season projected at $16M+ per year. And I here I was sweating bullets watching him lose a shooting contest to an 8-year old. Amazing content.
Watching this video after Josh Hart hit a random clutch end of shot clock mid air Mid-range jumper.
Great video as always guys. Just one point of constructive criticism, if you're going for a handheld look try looking at getting cameras with a camera cage and top handle. It's the best way to get handheld footage with minimal micro jitters. I just noticed your videographer on a monopod and while it was ok, I believe that a camera in a camera cage w a top handle would provide the best look. Keep on truckin!
Just love the wholecome insider content to how NBA players are like in real life, keep it up JJ
Love to see this kind of stuff, imagine being 8 years old and going through this kind of experience
What’s crazy is that Josh Hart hits those threes when it playoff time
JJ Son putting more pressure than play offs
Josh you are the best. You play with heart and you are both smart and comfortable enough to enjoy this moment with Knox.
Josh is the man, dude helped transform the knicks!
Fr. Blazers were stupid to trade him.
Jj reddick training his son with pressure. All kinds of entertaining
You just know Knox is gonna be hittin stepback 30 footers in ten years 😅
so cool!
kid must've had the best time of his life!
Great job JJ. (and Josh).
So many amazing players with “NBA kids” I can’t wait to see em’ all ball out when they hit the league 🏀🏀🏀
The Redick bloodline can make some 3s
Future NBA player in Knox !!!! Congratulations and keep it up. Love his enthusiasm for the game
Knox is fluent in sarcasm already, JJ has to be proud 😂
Josh such a sport for playing with Knox. I think this kid is seriously going to be a great shooter if he keeps on playing basketball. He can barely make the range, but already such precision. Well done mini Redick!
As a blazer fan I miss Josh Hart so much! He was a baller! Best of luck to Josh Hart for the future of his career!
Probably the first time I have ever seen an nba player take it easy on a civilian. Most of these nba players be treating the kids like their arch enemy when competing even in random contests. 😂
so true 😂 they be violating kids like god damn let a youngin win to build his confidence nigga u already in the league
I'm Glad you noticed he could have went 10 for 10 TBH
i really enjoyed that, tx
Your son beating an nba player in any contest is like a top 3 dad moment!
Cut to Josh Hart saving game one with four threes!
And JJ’s reaction on the podcast today: “You're not banking on Josh Hart making four threes. I'm sorry, Josh. I love you to death. l'm just not expecting you to make four threes a game.”
The confidence boost that kid got from that just be insane 😂
Josh you are awesome! I was so sad when the Lakers traded you...glad you're doing well with Blazers and now Knicks!
Haha I like how Know is a lil smart-allick just like his dad... Fun content how can you not love these young Knickenbockers!
Lil dude got action at becoming a phenom 1 day. good work lil brah 👏🏿
3:05 brunson lookin at this dude like Yeah sure buddy you just got clowned
No shot this Josh Hart is the same Josh Hart in this Sixers series who is shooting 50% from three 😂 😂 😂
That boy gon be cold in a decade man I can just tell 😂
lol. i remember the days when i had to use all my body strength just to get the ball to the rim. makes me miss all that time i spent in the gym.
this is fr a good look for josh hart... good clean fun
That’s just awesome all around
knox is already a 40% shooter he’s trending in the right direction😭🔥
nice to include his son . Cheers Knox
Love this...definitely something I would have done at that age given the opportunity
Wholesome content right here
Great sport Josh. Glad you saved your best shooting for the playoffs.
Good job to all involved.
He will never forget that!
Class act Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson. Go New York go New York go. Knicks in 5
love that lil boy !!!! what a life !!!!
Lmao Jalen was like OK BRO, WHATEVER MAN
Always like JJ!! Stand up dude💯
Jalen was like bro thats your last year😂
Old man and the sea was the first book ever read to me. Work JJ
Now thats a proud Dad moment
wholesome content
I love that dude Josh ! He’s a good sport too much excuses though 😂😂!❤
"The door's open"...
"The door is closed"
😂
This is awesome lol. Josh Hart seems like a solid good dude
This is so funny and so fun to watch 👍
Knox talking trash by continuing just to shoot at the end is gold
I know I'm dreaming, but I can still see you coming out of retirement and playing for The NY Knicks! 👍
loved this
LOL love it. GO Knox!! Josh is a really cool guy!!
Congrats to josh and the knicks on a big win today to go up 3-1 on the Cavs.. i said the knicks were the only lower seed in the east to possibly win there series..
jalen is like shut up lmao😂
Josh Hart just hits clutch 3s in every big NBA playoff game!
lol bruh bustin out the excuses has me crackin up. good sport about it tho love it
1st, JJ's son is adorable. 2nd, if it was me, no mercy on the baby's, mamba mentality 😂
JJ naming his son after a Knicks legend, man knows ball
8 years old with range like that? Yeah he’s going to be something else. I still had VHS tapes of JJ Redick burning the nets at Duke. Those were the days… I gotta get me another VCR to watch them. JJ you were exciting to watch at Duke man. The range was crazy!
In 5 years, people would know JJ more as that guy from CZcams doing banger podcasts rather than one of the best shooters in NBA history
Thank you JJ. Heat legend
Josh Hart is one of my favorite players. His life might become a movie in 20 years
This was great 😂😂
Very cool. Knox has a nicer stroke. If it were a bigger sample size like 100 shots, Knox may still have won. Keep in mind, his sharp shooting dad has probably coached and fixed errors in his son’s shots for awhile. However, we ARE talking about NBS 3s so now that’s pretty darn impressive. Good attitude, Josh.
Jjs the reason I feel in love with duke at a young age. He was ahead of his time..
Knox should play Ben Simmons on a 3pt contest
