Top 10 WORST airports in the United States.

- Anyone who has ever taken a flight out of any US airport knows that it can be a nightmare. Airlines don't make it easier.
You must pay for a ticket, get insurance, go through security, pay $15 for a cup of Airport Starbucks coffee, and make small talk with a car accident attorney from Long Beach.
If you fly on a regular basis, you know some airports are worse than others. Everyone has their opinion. Some say LAX is the worst airport, while others see it as one of the better US airports. This list breaks down which airports you should avoid if possible. This video is just about airports in the United States; we have an international version also.
Air travel Nightmares
Some of these are dangerous airports.
Joe Biden even hates one of these airports.

LGA is far worse than JFK.
Not many people realize that "Laguardia" is an old Native American word for "Delayed Flight".
They are rebuilding lga though. Things are looking up.
Ikr, LGA should be no 1.
@@sogreatray is that where your wife tells you when you take Viagra every night
@@ezaxis It was named after a Fierro Laguardia, a former mayor of NYC. And his name is Italian, not Native American
I'm an airline pilot. I've been to all of these airports.
You nailed it.
Thank you for your flight hours!
This video was posted in 2018, and now in 2022, as a New Yorker who flies a bit, I can tell you that LGA has improved so much and is now actually a great airport. They built new terminals, etc. It’s changed drastically!
I always liked LGA and last time I was there was 2019 and they were doing a lot of upgrades. Hopefully we will head back to NYC - LGA was pretty easy to get in/out of or maybe we were just there at good times.
@@christinebiada1292 If you do come back, id like to say welcome back to our great city 😬 You will be VERY impressed at the changes now that they’re pretty much completed.
Same. I flew home and went through LGA just a few months ago and the new airport is a MAJOR 180 degree turnaround.
Delta has done a great job worth terms C and D.
I flew in and out of LaGuardia in 2019. I was surprised that a NYC airport was small, but was glad that I checked in quick flying home and had enough time to mingle with other travelers that evening. That was a great experience
Your description of Newark Liberty was the best! LMFAO!
What JFK is a lot better than LGA.
And I think it's also a lot better than LAX. At least things seems to be organized. LAX is very poor on organization and management.
JFK is the best airport in the USA
I wouldn't say JFK is the best, Tampa International is excellent. But it certainly is better than LaGuardia or Newark. Maybe some terminals are worse than others, but I've never had anywhere near the complaints I can muster on just a single trip to LaGuardia.
@@mzxeternal Well I feel it's definitely also better than LAX. Especially for international arrivals.
And Jetblue's Terminal is one of the best I've been in. Delta's is fine as well. If this guy ever went to LaGuardia I doubt JFK would be put lower than it. No one in NY would that's for sure.
That "DUN-DUN-DUUUUNNNNNN!" sound clip got old after about 3 airports...
Was tired after the first one
And far too loud!
Would have been best saved for number 1...
I agree
I have to admit I really liked it lol.
Great video. Fast talking without a lot of superfluous chit-chat.
Great job! Agree.
I’ve been to LAX, and the last time I went I was having a good experience until when we got to security, when the TSA agent called my 3ds a Gameboy. I’ve never been more offended in my life.
shocking.
How dare he.......
Hey, you got a problem with GameBoy?
In London airport the TSA agent thought my 3ds xl was a bomb and the old lady had my dad detained and we were 40 minutes late to our flight. They almost made us leave without my dad because they could not figure out wtf it was. They never gave it back but we did end up at our destination.
Enemy Spotted I’m sorry about that
"picking someone up from LAX is an all-day affair" truuuue
Chcago O'Hare to LAX...lost my luggage each time. Then told me that I'd have to go home and come back to see if it showed up. I told them they had to bring it to me...they finally got my one bag to me 24 hours later. Where was it? Left at O'Hare.
scose. If you pick someone up at LAX, you need to drive to a special area for Lyft & Uber drivers. In 2020, LAX changed the rules to prevent people from being picked up at any terminal. You need to walk to an area before Terminal 1. In 2021, traffic is no longer terrible.
As a former airlines employee, I had to travel to these many times. You nailed it with this list!! I would add LAS, when it was McCarren in Vegas to that list as well and make it the top 11.
This list includes the 2 airports where we avoided crashes due to great pilots. First FLL where we were already across the runway threshold when the pilot added power and pulled up for a go-around. For those not knowing, the threshold is the end of the runway with the stripes on it the pilots of bigger aircraft use to target the landing. When we were going around I saw an aircraft stopped on the runway having overshot an exit to a taxiway.
Second was LGA. We were again across the threshold which I should not have known except the plane was pitched so hard to the right due to crosswinds, I could see out the window across the aisle from me to see those same runway markings. Now someone said it must have been the parallel runway, but the wingtip was clearly visible just above the runway. The pilot executed a snap roll and basically threw the plane onto the runway. I have never experienced a harder landing. I had to find a flight to DC which was not easy as the entire east coast was shutting down due to the weather (my boss and I barely made it out of Montreal to get to LGA). We did make it home that night. My boss later confessed that he had been to Canada a few times before and every time had trouble with transportation to get home.
LaGuardia? More like La Garbagia
LaGuardia is very dumpy and it is out of date! The food choices are lame there!
LaGuardia airports nickname IS LaGarbage, because it is built on landfill from the garbage of NYC
@@robfreedman6496 they better renovate the whole airport

I'm from a third-world country and I confirm that our "worst airport" is still a little better than La Guardia.
what country
@@clash3583 Philippines. MNL (or NAIA to us) was one of the world's worst airports according to an online survey from a little while ago.
When I was there in 2012 to go to America, queuing was a pain in the ass, the immigration lot are snot-faced abominations and Terminal 1 looked pretty archaic that it better served as a caveman's watering hole. And I'm being polite because this channel is ad-friendly. In fact, the one of the only few that are tolerable.
Luckily when I traveled out-of-country again, it looked pretty decent and clean. The only problem I encountered was still the long queues but other SEA airports have this problem too like KLIA or BKK. Sometimes it was hot because of all the people plus the sun's heat passing through the glass panes but overall it was much better than years ago. I wish they add those moving walkways like in Phoenix next. Sadly, those loud Chinese tourists are already here and the conditions here might deteriorate again.
@@ToddKeck98 I'm filipino! Can confirm, but T3 isn't too bad
@@nikkustikku281 Yeah. Terminal 3 was actually nice. Masyado lang talang maraming tao tsaka no train connection.
The Kenya airport is actually really nice
Nicely done and thank you. I did most of my business traveling from about 1980 until 2010. Some years I was on the road 150+ days/ year. I’ve been through about every airport in the U.S. I lived outside of New York City in 1986 and 87. Then, Newark was the farthest airport from my home, but I drove there because JFK and LaGuardia were such hell-holes. At least Newark was fairly new and had easy parking. Looks like now New Yorkers have no good options. Things have flipped in Florida. Miami Intl. was such a disaster in the 1980’s everyone I knew (including me) would fly into Ft. Lauderdale or even West Palm so we could avoid Miami. I now live in SoCal. I had to use LAX twice in the last few weeks. Total nightmare, made much worse by what seems like never ending construction. My favorite of all here is Ontario. Never too busy, easy access, people are pleasant, and I never feel rushed. The airfares to the same destinations (compared to LAX) are usually higher, but I gladly pay the difference! I avoid SantaAna/ John Wayne primarily because of their night time landing curfew. I have been stuck several times in connecting airports, because of delays we could not land before the curfew time went into effect. That sucks!
I go in and out of Newark occasionally, and while it's kind of worn and dated it's not THAT bad. Like you said, it does have easy parking unlike my home airport in Atlanta which has hellacious parking.
I agree, Ontario Airport is a dream. I wish it was closer to LA, but once I'm there it's great.
You are spot on, been there got the T shirt, I didn't want it to begin with....
Love how you argue with yourself! Love your commentary! “Stop typing!”
I do not love MIA but FLL is smaller and easier to deal with! You want a real Halloween come from an international flight and land in MIA, it will be a lasting memory I can assure you!
YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.
I was thinking the same thing when FLL came up. I have been to MIA 2 times FLL 4 times and I agree about food options the place is EASY to navigate and has way less people than MIA.
MIA is horrible FLL is waaaaayyyyy nicer
@@randymann7251 you must've been in the North Terminal visit the South Terminal especially Concourse J it's very nice and newer than anything else
Miami airport is a Hell Hole.
I've been to MCI many times and found it easy to get in and out of. You are right about the food services, they are all pre-security. I've been to all of these with exception of EWR and LAX.
This is incorrect. There are at least 2 places to get both booze and food inside security at MCI at gates that I have been at.
I agree with you! I had friends and relatives talks about the airports. However, I have experienced LAX twice and it was layover for a overseas flight. First time, I didn't have a problem but second time was simply a nightmare, thus everything went absolutely wrong.
I guess the biggest issue with Kansas City is that it was never designed for airport security. When it was built in the 60s, the terminals were designed in a way so that you could literally go right from the road to your gate once you got your ticket. TWA insisted on "Drive to Your Gate" with flight gates 75 feet (23 m) from the roadway (signs along the roadway showed the flights leaving each gate). Of course, tightened security came about in the 70s and 80s, causing the layout of KCIA to become very problematic.
KCI airport security could be placed at the curbside doors as you enter the terminals. Then all of the stuff would be available to those flying.
100% agree.
It was wonderful before the crackdown on security. Park near your gate. But it was shaped all wrong for today’s security. I also think that the Kansas City Aviation Department made it deliberately worse when they closed Terminal A. They were pushing for a new terminal and made the two remaining terminals overly crowded so people would get behind the new construction.
Note to Susan - there is no space for airport security at the outside doors. The distance between car side and airside was made deliberately short to provide the easy walk from your parked car to the airplane.
Berlin Tegel was designed in the exact same way
KC airport is great if your (younger) kids are flying. You can walk them to their security checkpoint which is right by their gate.
Doing a top 10 best airports would really cool too!
I said this on the first uploaded video
Phoenix sky harbors gotta be on that. Really nice tsa and very clean
Yes I said that in the original version comments section
Phoenix shy harbor is a nice one, way better than LAX.
Tampa International Airport is great.
Thank you for sharing.
I dont like travel by air, i bought an rv and loved it.
Great list and funny video. My shoes are still trying from all the pee on the floor in the Philadelphia airport bathroom. Seriously, how is there so much pee on the floor man 🤣🤣🤣
The custodial staff is lazy and worthless.
0:30 3,000,000 each year? It is about 3,000,000 each day.
I realised that too, since LAX has 57 million a year.
The US Bureau of Transportation says 1.73 Million people a day fly in the US. But lol it does seem a lot more than that
As someone who has had to spend two nights sleeping on the floor at JFK, I can say it is really bad... until you land in GIG (Rio de Janeiro) and realize that there are much worse airports in the world...
I'm a native of the KC metro area. You are spot on with the "old" KCI. It's always felt like just a depressing, barren place to have a layover in, and half the time the concessions (at least near the end of its life) had shuttered gates in front of them. It's not a fun place to be.
Now that the New Airport in Kansas City is built and it is a $h!t Show all of Kansas City is pissed. I don't know what you are smoking but KC has always had the best airport in the country. You don't go to an Airport to eat. you go there to leave. the best thing about KCI is you get out of your car you walk in and get on a plane. or you get off the plane walk outside and get in a car. there was very little walking. even after 911 I would show up an hour or under and get on a plane. nowhere in the country could you do that. the new Airport has nothing but terrible reviews and everyone misses the old separated 3 terminals. which divided you from all the crowded people. it was simple. you knew right where to go. yes it's new and there is good eateries now. but both YOU and the creator of this video are on drugs. lol
Interesting 🧐 Points.
Actually have had zero problems at both BOS and JFK. Ride the bus to BOS and get dropped at the terminal door. Use the LIRR to get to the AirTrain at JFK... simple. The airport I think is notably missing from this list is MIA. Takes 15-20 minutes just to get from the Rental Car Centre to the terminals... it's almost like it's located on another planet.
Also, the bit about no elevators in the garages is not true. All garages have elevators. I don't know what he was talking about.
I love Logan. Never had one problem. Flew in and out numerous times. Parking sucks pond water. Traveling light? Take the T.
Ever been to Phoenix? It's a half hour bus ride to the off-site car rental building.
New Orleans is an armpit of an airport. Old, antiquated, smells and well...that means you're in NOLA so it gets worse once you leave.
Yes, visited New Orleans last year and I did not enjoy the city.
The new airport opened about three weeks ago.
There is a new terminal, but the city itself's not what it used to be!
The first flight I ever took was from Philly to NOLA and i remember being super underwhelmed by the airport the first time I landed. I ended up moving to Mississippi shortly after and flew regularly to visit my family back up north, and that opinion hasn't changed. I worked in Jefferson for a while and came to really like New Orleans as a city, maybe because it was the only place in the south that had a similar feel to Philly and i felt comfortable there. However my opinion of the airport hasn't changed, although I will say it's one of the easier airports to navigate. Tbh Philly and ATL are probably the nicest airports I've been to, regardless of what this video says.
Love the video. Fly a lot and I agree!
Thanks for your video's and yes, I have been to five of those Air Ports, never did like anything
in the New York area and the worst for me has always been O'Hara, what a mess that is!
Am I the only one who actually loves going to airports? Mainly because of vacation and such, but I enjoy going and walking around, talking to employees and guards and it’s a fun experience for me. I also enjoy watching the planes. And if you’re curious what airport I go to the most, that would be Dallas Love.

Airports a great escpically Mccarrran International at Las Vegas. I love that one.
that's why-Love and Dall/Ft Worth arent close to being on this list, as aren't McCarran in Las Vegas.
I love airports, but hate flying.
Ikr
I will say for it being the first airport I ever solo traveled to and from, BOS was great and have been 8 or 9 times since. Having direct access to the subway from the airport into downtown Boston is a huge plus as well as the free shuttle you can take into the city (as long as you're arriving in-between rush hour times in which you can anticipate sitting in gridlocked traffic). BOS has made some huge improvements from what I have been told and have had smooth travels, but I may just be one of the lucky few it sounds! Love Boston too!
I concur with this list.
They built a new MSY and it is great (although I never really thought the old one was that bad). The big problem now is the rental car terminal is still connected to the old airport terminal so now you have to take a 30 minute bus ride to get to it.
Kansas City's airport was awesome prior to 9/11. To be able to walk straight from a cab pretty much right to the gate was perfect.
I’m from KCMO & I hate our airport. So damn outdated, but they’re upgrading in 2022-23
@@tinicoleofficial So basically... you don't want a convenient airport. You want an entertianment venue where planes just happen to take off and land.
@@brockreynolds870 I think what Ti wants is an airport that works with modern day security. I lived in KCMO 55 years and I am so ready for a new airport.
Love the vid! But I have to say that FLL has changed a lot, and is cheaper and far better than flying from or to MIA
I have to agree. MIA seems stuck in 1982
If you live north of Miami it makes sense I guess but not gonna fly in to FLL if I live in the 305. Personally I don't see what's so much better at FLL. In fact the feedback that I've heard is it sucks and you routinely see news about fights breaking out all the time cause of all the cheap/budget airlines flying out of there and hence attracting that "crowd" lol
@@AlexM-uo9gk If FLL is significantly cheaper ($100+) with the cost of the Bright Line, it makes sense. Unless you're rich and don't give a $#!& About money
I live in NY. Have done my fair share of flying. Dealt with all 3 major airports. You are so right on all accounts. I have the good fortune to actually be done with flying as of this past February.
Keep up the great work. I thoroughly enjoy you videos
I remember with fondness my flight from Dulles to Sky Harbor in 1973, including the leisurely time at each airport-- including strolling the outdoor deck at Dulles, watching planes arrive and depart before flight time . (Only a couple times in an airplane since.) I get the impression air travel has changed considerably.
I can't comment on the parking at Boston, but the inside is actually really nice.
L Haviland I just flew out there a week ago the JetBlue terminal is amazing!!!!!
Agreed. The couple of times I've flown in and out of Logan I took a taxi to and from the airport. There are a good variety of restaurants past security and plenty of seats around the gates.
From Boston, parking isn't the worst, but trying to drive into or especially out of is like navigating a maze
@@ethanwebber7056 Driving in Boston in general is like a maze to be fair.
Any of you been in the southwest terminal I've been in Delta, JetBlue, United, American and Emirates but not southwest yet. Going to it on Tuesday
I work in the airline industry and have ground support operations at MCI and MSY. Fully agree with both assessments. I see a lot of comments about not adding DFW, IAH, or ATL. Actually, those 3 aren't too bad, (have ground support operations at DFW and ATL). Just a lot of people. All three of those have a very functional and efficient tram system as well. PHL is actually nice. Just busy. Not annoyingly busy. PHL actually has a huge food court. I go to PHL often, and was just recently there to audit my GSE.
However, you really needed to add DEN to this list. While the airport is well equipped (bathrooms, restaurants, good signage), it's just 3 huge barely connected long corridors! They have moving walkways, but most times people dont know how to use them, (stand on right walk on left). Coming in on B14 from IAH via a A320, but your connection to EUG is at B83 on a CRJ200, and you have 40 minutes from wheels down to pushback?! GOOD LUCK! Realistically, that 40 minute layover is about 15 minutes because of taxi time, deplaning, then boarding your next flight. Mile High city? Should nickname DEN the mile long airport! 15 minutes to haul your ass from one end to the other, fighting slow moving, cant walk straight, fumbling with phones, dont know how to use walkways, inconsiderate casual travellers. Not cool.
Dont even get me started on CLT!
If I’m going home I always use DFW to transfer. I’ve had some delay problems, but it’s not a bad airport to get some great BBQ.
Denver has a subway that runs between the terminal buildings
I still remember being at LAX in 1972 with my mother and siblings as we were in the process of moving to Japan. The crowds were overwhelming and it only took a moment’s in attention to become separated from my family. I looked and looked for them but never even caught a glimpse. Somehow I wound up back outside and was sitting on the curb sobbing thinking they’d gone to Japan without me and I had no idea what to do or where to go…I was seven. Not one traveler asked if I needed help! Finally a security guard came and took me to an office to wait while they found my mother.
Over the last five decades I’ve travelled through LAX numerous times. Must confess, it’s still so hard to manage that sitting on the curb to cry seems like a reasonable response 😂 I try to avoid it unless I’m on a flight that does not require changing planes.
Agree it is one of the worst I've ever traveled through! And I too remember it as a kid having lived in Los Angeles! In fact I think I will take New York, either airport, over LAX anytime!
Awe...Bless ur heart sweetie... My worst experience at LAX was in 1978. I arrived at the airport three hours before my flight time and almost didn't make it on the plane. Why? Lines! Lines that wouldn't move for 20 minutes at a time. Too many people, too little facilities.
So you were home alone 2? You should sue. LOL
I've been to all the airports you have in your top 10 and you're not wrong on any account. I'm surprised Atlanta didn't make the list. Overly crowded and jam packed with horribly rude, lazy and incompetent employees.

I don’t travel much so checking into an airport, going through TSA and getting to my terminal is always an adventure for me. The only thing I don’t like is baggage claim. But the best airport I’ve gone through so far is MCO in Orlando, FL. It’s spacious, easy to navigate, very clean, and the staff are just really kind.
dude you are crazy for saying that. MCO is a nightmare.
@@LNTFCgroup idk but each time I flew out from MCO it’s always been calm, easy, and safe. I don’t know what experience you had though
I like your list and have to agree. I have been through 7 of the ten and all were bad. They were confusing and hard to get through for connecting flights.
Keep up the hilarity, Briggs.
Former 747 captain here. IAD (Washington Dulles) was always my least favorite. Yeah it’s kind of cool looking (designed by Frank Lloyd Wright) but that’s where the coolness ends. The major complaint is the stupid buses that run between the terminals. Expensive dumb design and slow. I was based at both JFK and agree with your assessment and also LAX. LAX isn’t too bad. Much less offensive to me than JFK and IAD.
We travelled from the UK to Dulles. Shocked by the infrastructure of the country’s capital airport. Never experienced anything like the prehistoric buses traveling to other terminals anywhere in the world.
How can you NOT love the "people movers"??? They look like they came off the set of an early Star Wars movies. They are somehow both beautiful and ugly at the same time. Have you ever had the pleasure of actually having one pull up right next to your plane to load or unload the passengers? I have and it was kinda cool.
Stop complaining....at least they are finally eventually getting Metro Rail service to Dulles at the cost of something like 40 Gazillion dollars ;)

A few weeks back I drove my wife to Logan in Boston, and parking is a freaking nightmare. When I went to pick her up again the following week I parked in the garage, and I didn't pay attention to which floor we were parked on. We eventually found the car, but only after going on two wrong floors!
Pro tip: before you go to Logan check your route on Google Maps. Start where the Ted Williams Tunnel ends, then check your route using street view. Make sure you know which terminal you have to go to in order to catch your flight.
My dad works at Logan and even he won’t drive there. He parks in Framingham and takes a bus to the airport to take out two hours of traffic each day, even he knows parking there is awful.
Made me laugh to see a recruitment ad for the TSA after your "not so stellar" comments about them. LOL
LGA being re-built brand new is fantastic. I was there a few weeks ago and the set up there is very similar to that of London Heathrow (LHR). Miami (MIA) is the worst when it comes to baggage claim. If You have to fly into MIA, do not check a bag unless no other options exist. Trust Me, I was born and raised there and I know the airport there like I know the back of My hand.
I knew they were working on re-building LGA. I haven’t been there in probably five or six years and back then it was awful. It was under destruction, the car rental shuttles would just let you off randomly in the middle of the road and you had to try and negotiate your way across a busy airport road to get to the terminal. And don’t even get me started on the roads that went through LaGuardia it was like somebody took a handful of string and just threw it down and said well there’s our road plan. I used to fly United and the terminal looked like a derelict building fit it out with some random crap that they found at a flea market. It was disgraceful.
I am from Chicago and when I was a teenager I worked at O'Hare. The train system is the same all over Chicago because is run by the CTA I think the transportation is actually good compare to other airports
I also think the transportation is pretty good. It was easy to get from the airport to where i needed to go with almost no problem.
yeh but it is a marathon race to make flight connections from one terminal to another on time. if you're not athletic, you might as well plan on missing your flight, because you have one hell of a hike ahead.
@@theItalianshamrock I agree, loved the train system when I was there, very convenient compared to many other airports.
It’s pretty easy, the blue line goes straight to the city without transferring any trains.
I'm from chicago too, i do agree with you, the train system is pretty decent. You gotta admit that midway airport is better though
Newark is the closest airport for me. It has been upgraded since this video, but it's still a pain to go through security due to the sheer number of people that use this airport. Other than the crowds, I don't recall any major mishaps over the years. I avoid the two NY airports. La Guardia was a dump, but it has been renovated. Kennedy is just too far for me and it does take a long time to go from one terminal to another. Miami is a pain too, I remember one trip where I was there and they had a rat infestation. We had to raise our feet because a rat ran through the waiting area. People were jumping on seats and lifting bags from the floor. I've been through the Ft. Lauderdale airport without any problems, I was there in October.
Way back in the late 80's - early 90's when I would often fly to and/or from Salt Lake City to Los Angeles, IF I was permitted a choice in my options, I would insist on using Burbank Airport. It was much smaller than LAX and was just much easier to get into our out from. (I did this several times a year for 6 years.)
Now, in SLC, if you have a flight in terminal B, you have a mile walk ahead of you! We need a train system!
By the way, I still think you should do a “Top Ten Reasons To Stop Typing” video. :)
What's next? Bob Butts?
I would enjoy seeing that.
Yes, it would ! The problem though is finding *ten* airports that could be described as being among "the best" in the USA .

Let’s face it, NY is a giant un-flushed toilet.
If I was a New Yorker I would be embarrassed of their shitty airport
and California is a toilet full of weed.
@@kevinfilbin7688 idk about this dude but JFK isn't actually that bad, its ALOT better the LaGuardia airport. and I would say is better than LAX airport.Although i agree with you every other airport sucks in new york
Amen
Nah that's california
I'm really surprised that there was one airport that didn't make your list: IAH, Houston, TX. I worked there for 11 years, and if you list an issue, it has it! from TSA management to everything else! it has almost been 10 years now since I no longer work there, and I can't imagine it getting any better, only worse. the subway transit system alone is more than 50 years old!
Thank you! I’ve been there several times to pick people up and it was a total nightmare getting there, then the airport itself sucks! I tell people if they can’t go to Hobby, stay home or rent a car and come to my house on your own! I’ve been there for the last time. No more!!
I've been to airports more than 100 times in my 30 years, and I'll never forget the nightmare Houston was. At least I found an outlet to sit on the floor with my laptop. I think had to spend 12 hours there.
I've gone through there 4-5 times per month for the last 20 years and have a hard time understanding your issue with IAH.
@@judsonkr you didn't work there, only went through there as a passenger. there is a vast difference when you know what the problems are.
If you lose anything in IAH you will never see it again. That’s a lesson I learned the hard way. I lost a Nintendo switch with a case and games in it. You’ll never get anyone off their asses to help you and you’ll never reach anyone on the Lost and found hotline.
It is interesting that you recommend Long Beach over LAX. I was going to suggest it too!
Most Kansas City locals love the layout of MCI. They keep changing it to make it bad to justify the renovation, and the costs. You can park your car, and see it from the plane. If you’re picking up someone, you can be back at the car in no time.
Exactly. Who has time for food. You show up and go straight to plane. Or get off and cross street to car. Also they do have snack service in the security sections.
Majority of KC hates the new Airport. the old Terminals where the best in the country.
If you think LAX is bad now just wait until they open the new football stadium and surrounding "nfl city" right on l-405 only a couple of exits north. You'd better plan on leaving for your flight a week early!
to be fair, it may actually prompt them to improve the public transit coming in and out of the airport for that same reason. ive heard a new monorail is a possibility going into the airport
@@Chingston if you have ever lived or spent years driving that area where you sit in total gridlock where cars barely move, you would know that's fantasy. In the name of greed they are going to dump an avalanche on top of that.
I have no idea what the original o p is talking about. The stadium and whatever is being built with it is 3.5 MI east of the airport off of the 105 and even that freeway it's still a distance from. They are building a Crenshaw Boulevard Subway or light rail system to go downtown shop for the stadium so that the airport is not affected. A couple of exits away? No way. People will be driving to the new stadium with the 105 freeway or they 110 Harbor Freeway and that's it. What's more the Opie is not mentioning that a light rail system to take people from to terminal from a nearby substation joining the rest of the light rail system is in the process of being built right now. So LAX is about to have the same public transportation convenience that San Francisco or JFK have.
@@martinishot the news stories of the time reported it was all being built on the remains of the old Forum which is on 405 just North of LAX
@@martinishot I have many times been in bumper to bumper traffic on 405 in journies from Torrance to Westwood or back that have taken 2-3 hours. Now they are going to dump all of this new insanity on top of that. It's not going to matter where it's located.
As someone who has flown in and out of PHL and ORD a good number of times of the airports on this list. I have never had a bad experience with TSA at either one. Now they are both big terminals and you will walk a lot, unless you get a ride. I also have not had any issues with getting to and from the airports. I have had issues with DFW and PHX which I did not hear, It is a pain when you have to catch a connecting flight and it is always at the other end of the airport from the gate we came into. I think it must depend on your attitude when you go into an airport, I always say hi and ask how they are doing. Everyone has been extremely nice when I have flown.
I have been to the Reagan Airport. It's pretty bad too! It's small and dark inside and not many departure terminals/gates. I have been to many of the Airports on this list and this list is very accurate!
I went through EWR just a week ago and it had charging ports and the security line was short. I also went through LAX recently and it was also not that bad, probably just because I enjoyed my trip to Universal Studios.
Jfk is not bad I live on Long Island and everyone sais LaGuardia is horrible I never heard anyone say jfk was horrible I’ve been there and traveled at least 12 times ask anyone they would take jfk over LaGuardia any day
I agree. JFK isn't bad, definitely not "the worst in the country". LGA is the worst airport in the country, bar none. No train/subway connections to the place (unlike JFK and EWR), old, crumbling, poor signage, rude staff, and the list goes on and on. Throw the whole airport away and start afresh!
I would agree. JFK is actually pretty easy to get around. The AirTrain will take you everywhere in about 15 minutes. It's WAY easier than trying to find anything at LaGuardia.
coking01 I live in Staten Island and I’ve went to EWR, LGA, and JFK. All of these airports aren’t great, but I think that JFK was the best one out of all of these airports. EWR would be 2nd and LGA would be 3rd. LGA is just a simply a f***ing garbage site.
JFK and laguardia are the pits and getting to them are even worse. i can pretty confidently say ive driven to and from them a couple hundred times and getting there is suicide. i once spent 4 hours - with a shortcut- to get to JFK during rush hour from jersey. i could do that drive in about an hour 30 on a normal run, but the van wyck and belt parkway are 2 of the trashiest and worst roads in america. i wanted to drive off the nearest bridge anytime i had to drive out there.
i live in LA and deal with LAX on the regular and we still joke that at least LAX isnt JFK or laguardia. they are that bad
Casey Hingston I went to LAX in July and August of 2015 to connect to Sydney and get back to New York. I actually spent four days in Los Angeles before flying back to New York.😀 I haven’t went to LAX in three and a half years, but I can tell you that LAX isn’t an awful airport, but it’s definitely not as beautiful as airports like SIN and DXB. Also, LAX was prone to delays and my flight from Los Angeles to Sydney was delayed for about 10 minutes. It was raining a little bit in the LA area.
I had been THROUGH ATL many times but only recently originated a flight from there. Our Atlanta resident airline employee daughter who is freaky on timeliness got us to the terminal 1 1/2 hours early for a domestic flight. We found the security switchback only about 60% full so expected good things. When we finally got to the 9 TSA check stations, only one was manned! Yes, we missed our flight. TSA sucks in a lot of places.
Our daughter-in-law is an airline pilot and was based at LGA when she first hired on. She hated it and bid out of there as soon as she could.
Thankfully LAX is getting an extensive remodel ahead of the Olympics.
Yup, good for LAX, But until 2023 the airport will very congested. Leave early.
@@m33lover Unfortunately good things take time. I agree it's very congested.
@@m33lover"Leave early" is always a good motto in Los Angeles.
Back in the early 90s, I flew overseas via Newark and thought it was a good airport. Then in 92, I returned from Europe and the baggage handlers were on strike. We overseas travelers had to exit the security zone in order to fetch and carry our luggage to the domestic terminal for connecting flights. The bus to the domestic section was always full so most of us walked over grass and divider walls to get there, dragging our luggage along. Never been back to EWR since.
Speaking of delays in Newark, my friends brother was going to Phoenix the other day. They got to the airport for a like 5:30 flight that then didn’t leave till after 8, so my friend sat in the airport waiting for 2.5 hours to leave. He didn’t get home till almost 1am
Just flew into EWR and it's awesome now. Outlets on all the seats and iPads at all the tables. Even at restaurants and the bars. I was shocked.
Philadelphia and O'hare are completely fine
Do you own a white jacket that ties in the back?
I recently flew into FLL from Cancun. Actually, I was impressed with the kiosks that scanned my passport and my face to verify, and the luggage acceptance mini-counter right past that area, where I was able to check and drop my bags for my outgoing flight. I was forced to use FLL rather than a direct flight back to ATL due to scheduling conflicts, and found it to be surprisingly stress-free for my incoming International flight (I have yet to experience ATL coming in from International.) I agree with you about the lack of good food options, however.
Oh, and BOS does have those nice rocking chairs. I took advantage of those quite a bit my two times through there. I did take an Uber to it, and if there were no elevators, I sure am glad of that! Whatever would I do, as a retired lady who always overpacks?! No elevators, seriously? What century is this, again?! And how is that even Disability-compliant according to ADA guidelines?
I live in FLL . They have busses that go between terminals, public transportation, and was laid out in the 50's. I first visited in '81,'84,and '90. You think IT'S bad, try going thru on a weekend when you're going on a cruise.
They do have elevators. I live near there.
Love those rocking chairs at BOS. Why don't more airports have them? A lovely way to decompress after an international flight while you wait for your connection.
I am happy to hear that since I am flying to Cancun from FLL soon. I live in FL and absolutely ABHOR FLL.
I'd take FLL over MIA any day of the week.
I fly into Florida once a year to visit family and prefer FLL over MIA.
Never really had any problems at FLL.
MIA seems to have longer/slower TSA lines.
Kansas City: Had to go back thru TSA to *transfer* from layover, like I walked off street. Luckily connecting plane waited for us.
I’ve only flown in and out of JFK once. It was clean, but I’ve never been to an airport that the workers moved so slow. One line with three agents for Jet Blue was open and it took a good 45 minutes to check in. There was about 15 passengers in line. So I have to agree with this being the worst. Portland, Oregon is my favorite, easy in, easy out.
Nah, JFK is a dream compared to LGA. Think worst mass transit bus terminal filled with morose, angry people. Employees and passengers.
Sadly, I am a native New Yorker.
Travel is great because every place else is wonderful.
I hated my experience in Philadelphia: 99% of the people I had interactions with were plain rude. Hostile. For no reason.
Def depends on the part of the city you are in. Near Center City and Germantown, people are very friendly and polite. The closer you get to West Phila. the more complete assholery you are gonna see. Some toothless drunk dude and his woman made fun of my husband when we were ordering cheesesteaks from a little joint near Ogontz Ave. He's very 'Western' and just didn't understand the sandwich maker guy's lingo. The sandwich guy was cool and was trying to cut the tension, but toothless bum guy was determined to give us bad memories to last. He did a good job. I'd still recommend Pagano's to anyone wanting a good cheesesteak or hoagie, but beware of the regulars. They are usually asshole people.
Next time don’t wear your cowboys t-shirt 😂
That's called "Brotherly Love"..
You explained it in the first part of your comment. It's Philadelphia.
If you are not an Eagles fan or a Flyers fan than Philadelphia can be a pretty hostile place. Especially the airport and the city’s blue collar neighborhoods.
I've flown in and out of MCI, BOS, ERW, LAX (grew up in LA too) and JKF (once back in 1978, so barely remember) and transferred at ORD once. I must say my top two for personal experience is ERW and BOS for crappiest airports. ORD made the short layover worth while with an AWESOME deli restaurant in Terminal C that had the best Reuben ever.
Kennedy Airport opened in 1948 and was called Idlewild Airport. When we came ther the runway was very rough and very few seats for passengers in 1956 .
"No power outlets, no free wifi, no seats"
You haven't been to the airport, have you?
MCI Kansas City International is building a new 1 terminal airport. World class! 👍✈
Yeah it’s going to be a lot worse once that happens
@@garrettsmith8591 What planet do you live on? You're an idiot
I grew up in Kansas City so I've been to the existing airport. Someone summed it up well when he said KCI stood for "Kansas City Inconvenient". The new one would be hard pressed to be worse.
@@brandonhunt8431 I've lived in KCMO fokr 55 years. Cant' wait for a new one terminal Intl airport.
all i know is they better have a delta sky club / Priority Pass Lounge
4:28 I never knew you could take a train for Dortmund from O'Hare. And from a railway station that looks very similar to Frankfurt Airport's.
Five years ago my husband and I fly from LAX to Boston on morning flight. Despite being pre TSA approved I got tagged by security and to be screened probably because of my replacement parts from surgery. Luckily the screening didn’t delay our departure and we enough time to enjoy a nice breakfast in the terminal. Our flight to Boston was on a nonstop Delta and we used a taxi to get to our hotel. Some day we hope to visit Boston again even we have to use LAX .
I'm glad that everything at LGA is being mowed down and rebuilt
Maybe you had a bad experience at L.A.X but I had a good one.
Good for you.
I fly from Bangkok and return several times it does take a long time in the terminals....
airport experience wasn’t bad but terminal 5 is hideous compared to boston or really any airport outside of the us, especially for such a large area
@@colbymaxheidke7607 yeah, they’ve been working on terminal 5 since they opened the airport it feels like.
The sad thing is it is 2022, and this list is still accurate!
So jfk, laguardia, Newark and Philadelphia are all on this list. So how do I get to nyc?
I live in Fort Lauderdale and always fly out of FLL. Over the years, they’ve expanded the airport and added a 2nd runway. They’ve also expanded some of the terminals, added food options, and are building a new international terminal which will open in about a year. Respectfully, I disagree with you that MIA is better. Last year, due to a delay in my flight coming into FLL, Delta routed us to MIA for our trip to Spain. MIA IS TOO BIG, disorganized, and the traffic and getting around the airport is just terrible. I have flown out of MIA a couple of times over the past few years only out of desperation. I much prefer the smaller FLL. I will grant you one thing ... the food options are not like what you’ll find in MIA or ATL, and if you’re flying late, that’s more of a challenge. Hopefully, as FLL expands beyond the 20 million passengers they serve today , the airport authority will respond.
My wife and I really liked Fort Lauderdale we didn't want the hassle of booking through Miami at a huge airport. Worked out well for us went on a cruise in 2011. Everyone friendly.
Actually I went to Newark and Ft lauderdale in one day and there were seats at Newark but not a lot but Ft Laurderdale was actually good!
FLL and LGA are the 2 airports where I had near-miss experiences while landing. At FLL the pilot had crossed the threshold then added thrust and we did a go around because the plane in front of us had come to a stop in the middle of the runway because a smaller plane blocking its way to get off the runway.
LGA was a landing in a snow storm where I was seated on the left hand aisle seat and could see the runway numbers out the right side window before the pilot did a snap roll and virtually threw the aircraft down on the runway (can you say rough landing?).
I flew into LAX back around 1980. I was in the area to pick up a vehicle, and drive it back to Reno. I had a couple hours to kill, so I figured that I would take public transit, and save the outrageous taxi fare. However, I quickly found that LAX had NO public transit service. I had to walk nearly a mile out to Sepulveda Blvd, before I found a bus stop. Luckily, my only luggage was a small overnight bag. It was nearly an hour before the bus arrived, and it was just a neighborhood line. I couldn't believe how terrible the transit service was, for such a major airport. Was LA getting kickbacks from the cab companies? Of course, that was over 40 years ago.
I’ve flown in and out of Miami at least a dozen times, and had some issue I think every time. Twice the customs was shut down so I couldn’t enter my own country. One time I couldn’t bring my one carryon on the plane, so they checked it, and my bag was basically smashed (zipper ripped off, etc). Had delays, several times.
And I think every single time I interacted with rude employees. The MIA customs is easily my choice for the rudest customs I have dealt with in this country (or any other)
One of the reasons I refuse to fly any international flights. Customs is horrible
@@tamarajohnson5771 unless you’re driving or taking a boat, that really limits your travel options.
I agree. IDK how Miami didn't make this list. I've transited there a few times, and this is the rudest, laziest and most unorganized US airport I've ever been to.
I loved Miami airport when I flew in and out from Latin America frequently in the 1970s and 1980s, with carry-on luggage only. They also had the greatest bookstores where you could get the latest paperback of your favorite detective-thriller author. And you could drink that fabulous Cuban coffee ! But I learned to stay overnight in Miami and fly out the next day if I were going on to another international destination, or if I had check-in luggage, because sooooo many disasters had happened when trying to change planes (bags left behind or broken into or planes delayed and connections missed). In LatinAmerica there was a rumor that there was a "Mafia" in Miami that X-rayed the luggage and broke in if they saw anything interesting.... who knows? I still always stay overnight in Miami and travel only Carry-On, even if just to go eat Cuban food, but the thrill is gone.
When my father was retired and living in Ft. Lauderdale, I went to see him at least once a year. FLL was easy to get in, get my bags, get my rental car, and get out. When I had to fly in or out of MIA, I cursed myself each time for waiting so long to make my air reservations. Everything was a major effort, nothing went smoothly, and everything took forever.
How does LGA fair better than JFK? As a native New Yorker who lives in Brooklyn and lives equal distance from both JFK and LaGuardia, I would much rather fly into and out of JFK and would pay the extra cost to do so. Flights into and out of LGA are always delayed, I've NEVER departed LGA on time, NEVER. Being in LGA makes me feel like I need to shower about two times just to get that grime off of me. And let's not even talk about the all day traffic on the roads that surrounds that airport.
They're both hell holes... You're arguing between Jeffery Dahmer and John Wayne Gacie
Only flew out of MCI once. Had to switch terminals to make the connecting flight. My bag did not make it across in time. So I had to wait at my destination for the next flight to bring it. Fortunately I was at STL so it wasn't a long wait.
For Boston area, use the Manchester, NH airport. BOS is surrounded by the city and difficult to get out.
