I didn't even know the berries were edible. We grow the trees for the leaves, chuck them into curries, soups, stir fry, stuff like that. They taste like Asia.
This is the curry leaf.. It is indispensable in South Indian cooking, used mainly to garnish hundreds of dishes. You can get curry leaf powder, too. It adds great flavor.
Love the leave's on the Curry Berry Tree. Interesting video especially since that beautiful tree would not make it in MN winters. Nice to have fragrant tree's ... looks like a peaceful place to walk.
i didn't know you can eat them...it's grown twice from my potted curry leave plant which for the life of me I have no idea where they came from..berries are at its second coming now within about a year...just amazing to watch..
My friends from India grow something called a curry tree... it's got smaller leaves and it's essential for Gujarati recipes. They put the leaves in it.
It's the same tree dude, the name is curry tree and he is saying it as curry berry tree. You have seen it small because in india, the leaves are normally harvested when the tree is still juvenile. They are ready to harvest at a very early stage. The trees are deliberately cultivated and pruned to be small but that does not mean, that's their original size. When allowed to grow freely, a curry tree can easily reach upto 5-6feet tall and some wild specimens have been recorded to be about 8-9 metres tall
I love all these interesting things you show us, I especially love vanilla beans as there isn't anything that can take the place of the real thing. Have a wonderful 2020
i actually went to get the curry leaves from the tree, and i noticed those seeds on top, then i wondered what on earth are these..and that brought me here..i bet theres a health benefit for those
Same for me... I've this plant in my home garden.. since 5-6 years.. and first time I noticed these berries.. usually we in India use it's leaves in most of the curry recipes.. thanks Gabe
Happy New Year! Thank you for all the great info and videos! I'm thinking there must be a confection combining chocolate, vanilla, and curry or perhaps curry berries--three of the world's greatest flavors IMHO, 😊!
I applaud you for liking the leaves and berries of that tree... as for me, I grew up in Cambodia with that tree at home and it’s quite a common ingredient for Cambodian food... yet I cannot stand the smell of its leaves or the berries... just a whiff of it makes me wanna barf. Just thinking about it now makes me cringe lol.
Terry Tomaszewski. Mahalo 😊🤙🏽 I’ve never seen berries on my friends plant I’ll have to ask her to show them to me next time she gets them and trowels too they must get flowers if they get berries.
Hubby works in a propagation nursery. To treat moss on the plants, they use bicarbonate soda or baking soda. It doesn’t harm the young plants at all or their roots. Worth checking out if the moss bothers you. I find moss fascinating to film up close. It looks like a miniature jungle. HNY mate 🤙🏽
Gabe Humphries chef Jeff Dunnell will probably tell us we can eat it. Apparently I have loads of weeds in my garden he’s telling me I can eat & make into salads & I’m like salads?... ya don’t make friends with salad. You make friends with chocolate, bacon & Tim Tams. Have a good one mate. 🤙🏽
beautiful vanilla pod. congratulation!!!

Happy New year ! 🥳 I think my friend has a curry tree didn’t know you could eat the berries , just uses the leaves .
They're from the same plant. I wasn't sure so I looked it up. Lot of nutrition but the seeds are toxic. It's a member of the citrus family.
