Ate Rei, we have so many similarities (pero di pa rin ako sobrang ganda today! hehe) I spent my entire childhood being insecure of how I looked. I had dark skin, my hair wasn't pretty, I wasn't as outspoken as I am now. During high school, I was bullied by everyone and as in all I wanted to do was graduate and leave everything behind. It reached the point where I wanted to do something dumb to myself -- alam mo na yon -- because I only had two friends and everyone was against me. I tried to be better at school para di ko naiisip na I was ugly. I started joining clubs and competing (and winning) in writing contests, both inside and outside the school, to find my own strength. I guess they didn't like that I wasn't as miserable as they wanted. Not only did they ruin my self-esteem but they invalidated my hardwork and collectively tried to kick me out of the list of the outstanding students by stealing my books, damaging my projects and influencing everyone into making my life miserable, etc. (and likewise, when I go home to my province, they send me messages as if they didn't bully me and destroy my self-esteem during high school). I am SOOOO glad I moved because the things that I was super insecure about became my most distinct and unique features. I'm happy I met people who saw me in a different light.
You are such an inspiration to me and I aspire to be like you! (I'm also studying Communication -- and now I regret not trying to enter Miriam College). Thank you for being such a security blanket. Now that I learned that you were bullied before and now you're happy about who you are, I get a hint of hope na someday I can be like you and get over my insecurities rather than wallow over them. I have a long way to go with accepting who I am but I know I'll get there. I'm sorry for being emotional on such a happy video! This Q&A hit home so hard. Thank you so much! I love you!
